About 7 hours into FF13 and I can't say I'm totally into it yet. Maybe it's my love for 11 and 12, but shit man a results screen EVERY time you beat a mob? And I have no idea what the fuck is going on with the story at this point. I hope this gets better.

Beat the COD MW2 campaign, lvl 20 in online mode and still getting my ass handed to me. I just suck I guess.

How does Valkyria Chronicles compare to FF13?

On a Silent Hill binge currently, playing Homecoming on the PS3, and 0rigins on the PSP.

Not sure why I've seen so much hate for both, they feel like legit Silent Hill experiences to me, complete with crappy combat.

May grab Shattered Memories after these two for the sake of completing my Silent Hill collection, just not sure if I should grab it for Wii (better controls) or the PSP (portable gaming)


Been a long while since I played a PSP (only got my new 3000 this week), but man, 0rigins looks fucking great for a handheld game, complete with shadow casting which I wasn't expecting, and it runs flawlessly without a dip in the framerate so far.

I liked Origins a LOT more than Homecoming, other than the weapon durability (one of the worst aspects of 4 onward, other than limited inventory space) it felt just like a regular Silent Hill game. The PS2 port of Origins is actually pretty good as well. I still need to beat Homecoming, but I got stuck on one of the bosses (the doll boss I think) with no ammo and no health so I'd have to restart.

Silent Hill Shattered Memories is pretty good, some people might gasp at it having no weapons/combat and replacing the gore with ice, but the exploration is pretty fun. The story is easily one of the best of the series though, and one of the most psychologically disturbing.

Whether or not you should play on Wii is tough call-- the wiimote works very well for exploration, pointing your flashlight and whatnot, but it seems to have some trouble registering the motions to shake enemies off once they've grabbed you which can lead to some serious rage moments. It's not a particularly long game though, I'd probably just play it on wii though, it's definitely a play in the dark on your couch kinda game.

I don't mind little changes. Shattered Memory may prove to be a little refreshing with the ice bit since I've kinda 'seen' all they can offer me gore wise. May download the Wii verison (yay for modded consoles) and see how it works in a month or two, and if I enjoy it, will buy. Lack of combat doesn't bother me, it's been kinda throwaway in the series as-is, I just play for the psychological horror aspects.

Granted, I always find it funny that the protagonists are not the least bit disturbed when they enter gore-land, but perhaps all these characters are 'special', which being the reason they get stuck up in the town to begin with.

Spent the last 3 weeks or so playing every Need for Speed on the PC from Underground to Shift.

I hate myself a little bit more.
Kind of nice to experience the series move away from rubber-band AI over a short period of time.

Tempted to go back to WoW since my dad's golf crew could use a 5th for their Dungeon Raids and such but I don't think I can stand the Gear Score shouts in trade and the general player base's illiteracy again.

one of the cooler aspects of the game is how it stops after every chapter to have you talk to the in-game psychiatrist and have you answer questions, the answers to which supposedly "profile you" and change aspects of the game. Whether or not this actually happens is another matter (I think it just puts boobs on monsters if you say you like sex, etc), but it does break up the story rather nicely.

I finished Saboteur and got 1000/1000 achievements, was a lot better than I had been led to believe but I definitely want to play a better sandbox game like Just Cause 2/Red Dead pretty soon.

Now playing Divinity 2 for Xbox 360, which I picked up for $17.99 used a while back. After about an hour you get over the somewhat lackluster graphics/camera and it gets pretty engrossing. The writing has some pretty hilarious moments and it's a passable oblivion clone, which is all I really need to sink lots of hours into it.

Also replaying Dead Space on ps3 (to make the switch to PS3 for DS2), although I'll probably move on to something else before I finish all the trophies... after like 7 playthroughs on 360 I'm pretty tired of it. I was thinking either Beautiful Katamari or finally getting around to my insanity ME2 playthrough, but we'll see.

are the two addon packs worth it? I heard the first one was meh but i never heard anything about the second.

I would definitely skip Battle of Forli if you're only going to buy 1. Bonfire of the Vanities opens a whole new area of Florence, and the mission structure (assassination targets spread out all over the city) make it feel a lot longer.

On the other hand Battle of Forli does let you use the flying machine whenever you want, in case you missed that achievement.

Playing the SNES Secret of Mana again on the Wii and started playing Phantom Brave and Makai Kingdom again last week.

I too have been feeling the tug again of AC2, I have all of the add-ons and thoroughly enjoyed them, wish there were longer though.

Returned NBA Live and picked up Borderlands.

I jumped back into FFXIII last night but it had been a couple months and I can't really remember what I was doing. I've got most everyone with a tier 4 role in Chapter 11 so far and have worked through 15 or so quests. I'll probably go back to farming CP a bit then get off my ass and move the story along.

Also, is there any JRPG that doesn't have some kind of mini-game in it? I almost thought RoF didn't have one till I got to Chapter 13
