Finished up Fallout 3 GOTY. Was thinking about playing the dragon quest series since I haven't touched it yet. Anyone know which game is a good one to start at?

DQ8 if you don't mind playing on a console, otherwise DQ4 on DS
or you can wait like 9 days and play DQ9
I did, couldn't stop reading it.
Spoiler: show
Back me up in the saya no uta thread I made and tell the ignorant bastards in there that it's actually decent for being a VN!
trying to finish the online trophies for BFBC2 and the demolition kills are killing me... either i kill the guy in the building with my RPG or they jump out before the building falls, or they die from my rocket THEN the building falls, thats always fun. i dont wana boost that shit either but i might have to :/
finished Divinity 2 for 360, turned out to be a pretty decent game overall. Graphics are kinda meh but there's lots of customization/content, and you get to turn into a dragon and fly around halfway through the game. Best part is easily the writing, there were some hilarious tongue in cheek moments, sorta the same tart & buffon humor in fable. Fun little oblvion clone I guess, if Oblivion is a 9 then Divinity 2 is a solid 7 in my book. Definitely worth the $17.99 I paid.
Next up I think I'll finish up Alan Wake collectibles, still have quite a few thermoses and manuscript pages and I just want to replay the game. Does anyone know how hard the game actually is on the hardest difficulty?
After that I'll probably work on Deadly Premonition or Overlord, although DQ9 should be out and that will easily hold me over until Arc Rise Fantasia.
Alan Awake worth getting? Need some opinions before I buy it.
Alan Wake? Yeah, it's a lot of fun. It's not really a survivial horror game, more of a horror action (actually the "psychological action" they have on the cover is pretty accurate).
The controls are surprisingly smooth and fluid, so combat with enemies coming at you from all directions actually feels fun. In fact, some of the game's greatest moments are when you're having to hold off enemies or defend an area from hordes of taken, so much so that I'm almost disappointed that they didn't add a horde mode with simple co-op. The way the game uses light to burn off an enemies shield before shooting them doesn't really add much to the gameplay but it does make for some awesome weapons when it comes to flares and flashbangs. The vehicle sections are neat too, since you can use your headlights to soften enemies up before mowing them the fuck down.
There are some really nice vistas and areas, and even though the game is mostly linear it feels like a huge game world. The voice work is particularly well done, and the mood of the game is almost perfect, the only bad part is that facial models look a little weird. The story is supposed to be the star and for the most part it is, it feels like twin peaks meets john carpenter, the pacing is great and you want to keep playing to find out what happens but sometimes the scattered manuscript pages give a little too much away. At 10 hours it's a pretty meaty adventure, and there's plenty of collectibles to pick up on a second or third run through.
tl;dr- Surprisingly fun gameplay, and a strong story. If horrorish action adventure with a stephen king feel to it sounds interesting to you, it's probably right up your alley.
edit: or just watch the gametrailers review, it's pretty accurate lol

That helps, thank you very much atreides.
Coincidentally I came here to talk about Alan Wake. Got a good bit into it. Been pretty decent but I've been kinda disappointed. I feel like I'm close to the end. I paused it and went to the bathroom. Came back and Ber moved the Xbox cause I had it pulled out a bit. Fucking cut up. I rented the game. So now I'm gonna have to pay for a game I don't care for and was already beat anyway.
I actually liked the ending a lot in retrospect, it was one of those ones that doesn't really clear things up but is still oddly satisfying considering the way the story is told.
Still, Alan Wake kinda reminds me of the first Uncharted in a way-- great story, great game overall with a fair number of flaws that if fixed, have the potential for a truly amazing sequel.
I'm nearly done with Picross 3D, however these puzzles are annoying to get a perfect on. I have 4 puzzles left in level 10, then after that a bonus level and then done assuming there isn't a hidden difficulty.
almost done with Strange Journey. fused some badass amazing demons. need to decide if I'm gonna fuse some more awesome demons to use up my sources (best to use all the Victory Cry and element-repelling sources now) or just beat the damn game already. gonna have to go through it again to get complete compendium anyway, stupid chaos route exclusive boss.
having fun raging out hardcore at Mario Kart Wii.
slowly making progress in Dragon Age. turning into a bit of a bad boy so Morrigan will like me. that's ok, Alistair is straight anyway so screw his approval.
You're supposed to bang Morrigan the second you get to the world map then neglect her for the rest of the game.
I liked how you can bang Zevran with minimal effort (like 2 conversations max) and he will also bang you as many times as you want lol
Those damn gays are always so slutty
morrigan won't bang me yet. I'm working on her. give me time, I'm new at this whole "trying to get into a woman's pants" thing. clearly, being nice is not going to work here.
Finished up Afrika over the weekend. It was a beautiful but kind of dull game. There's no voice acting in it at all either which was a bit odd. It was an easy platinum though so I can't complain.
Popped back over to FFXIII, I'm finally getting to the end of the main story. I'll probably farm a bit before the last boss though.
As far as console gaming goes (since I've been all over the place on my PC due to that Steam sale last week), I've been plugging away at LittleBigPlanet trophies still.
Going to be tedious also, as all I got left are the ones involving people playing/hearting your maps, and you playing 150 community maps yourself. Everything else is done already thank god....
Supposedly will be more trophies added to the list when the Marvel map pack comes out, so there goes another $6 on wanting to attain 100% trophy completion. I wonder if they'll add a gimmick this time around also. MGS pack had the Paintenator where-as Pirates had the Water, both being great additions to the current toolset.
wait wat
Waaay late to the party but picked up Fallout 3 GOTY and I love it. I think I fucked up a ton though. I got Simms killed and now Deputy Steel is trying to kill me. I enjoy raider hunting very much though!
