DQIX - Starry Skiiiiies. So far so good, though I spent far more time in the character creation screen that I feel comfortable with on the DS. ITSA DS!

Sounds like it has the same AP as the Japanese version. So SOUNDS like I will be ok as is on Cyclo (on No$ atm) later. Otherwise, patch needed? Also reading that the Japanese save will work with it though i don't know if using a save to bypass the opening AP (after char. creation) will solve other carts or if there is more later.

Works fine on my Cyclo. Apparently there was a second release by ZENON(sp?) today as well that was patched. Either way, I will likely play a bit more but not much. I pick up my actual copy in 3 days.

I just started playing Muramasa but might drop it for DQ9 >.>

Also, dumb Muramasa question: Are those soul things or w/e in the map that I collect, are they adding up for anything? The impression I got is that they "repair" my blade or something but I honestly have no clue lol, I'm just kinda button mashing so far >.>

    edit: nvm, found the forge!

edit2: One thing im not enjoying, I go all the way to and end of a map, fight a boss, then i gotta rewalk all the way back and no enemies to smash

you can buy bronze mirrors which let you warp to the last shrine you visited. There's also an infinite use mirror you can get from a hidden boss later. And when you beat the game (the first time) you can fast travel between areas.

Souls recharge/repair your blade and are needed to forge new ones. You get Spirit from either eating food at a restaurant, or buying/making food that gives spirit.

Are fat PS3's a bitch to open? I've been considering applying a fresh dab of thermal paste to the CPU (as well as a general clean-up) given it still seems to rev up to 'warning level' on the fan even though the temperature in my area is nowhere remotely near where it was last week.

Would rather not wait on a possibly YLOD and end up having to spend $150+ to get it repaired by Sony.

Decided to play DA:O and playing as a warrior. So far it's fun but I hate how I can't pick chests.

Been getting backin the loop of playing my older PSP games since my new PSP-3001 hasn't been getting much use lately (mainly waiting for a new homebrew exploit, I want my NES emulation damnit!), so I put a couple hours into MGS: Portable Ops.

Does anyone have tips on capturing new units as fast as possible? I forgot how fucking tedious it was recruiting more soldiers just for maxing out research and covering every zone with spies. The old "knock them unconscious, drag near spot I can hide, hide up, then swap member to run nearby and knock-up the codec to retrieve" gets tedious. I just want to get this game beat so I can shelf it, I don't have the time to rack up 50 some soldiers the slow way like I did on my old save data which I can't find for the fucking life of me.

On a side note, starting to appreciate the 'wide' colour option on the 3000 series in select games. Jeanne D'Arc looks fricken spectacular and more vivid with it on, with the only downside being that the colours overall appear darker than they would normal, so third-brightness level is a necessity. Forgot how good the PSP could look under the hands of the right developer. Makes me curious how Ghost of Sparta will push it further than Chains of Olympus if it's even possible.
(most I can think of is Sony making it demand 2000 series or higher to make use of the additional RAM it has over 1000 series, that or a mandatory data install to keep load times up with higher-detail textures)

I am interested in this, mine does the same thing. it started a while ago and has never failed to rev up since, usually within 10-20 minutes.

anyway, replaying FFT right now. downloaded it to test out the upscaling function of the ps3 and I really like how it looks, but now I'm addicted. I have tons of other games I could be playing, yet here I am replaying a game I've played three times already. doing a generic-team run, gave them all Suikoden names and tried to match them to their original characters: Sialeeds took the white mage path, Ted the black mage path, Jowy the archer/thief path, and Chris the knight/monk path.

FFT is like crack, I'm telling you. too bad I'm at the Algus battle now, ugh. stupid auto-potion.

I honestly can't get into FFT. It's just so fucking slow-paced after having blown over a good 150 hours in Disgaea 1/2.

That series probably ruined SRPG in general for me, been playing Jeanne D'Arc lately on my PSP and even it chugs along at times.
(especially when the game likes to say 'fuck you' by killing the NPC you're supposed to protect before you could possibly reach them and save in time. Hate that shit, fuck you crit attacks! )

FFT's job system with Disgaea's gameplay would rule, for sure. I would kill for that game.

Been a bad habit for me where I'm used to being able to attack a mob, and *then* move my dude in Disgaea. Wasted so many turns in Jeanne D'Arc today since it's not the case there. -.-

I need to get back to Disgaea 3, but I could not for the life of me figure out how to get XP for my healers so they can upgrade their spells. Seems the only way to get XP is killing monsters or consuming XP drinks, but the drinks cost HL, and uh, yeah, good luck trying to get a healer to kill mobs regularly without grinding a map a few times in a row hoping the mobs won't just hit your stronger dudes on their turn and get one-shotted by a counter.

I could have sworn you could do that in Jeanne D'Arc

Might be an ability I can slot in for it, but as far as I'm aware the only way to move after attacking is if you got Godspeed up, and killed said target in the process.

I could just be remembering incorrectly since I don't remember needing anything for it, it's been a while since I played it and I didn't even end up finishing it!

I remember making a Flik character a long time ago; Knight with only Bolt magic. Surprisingly it was real accurate to the real Flik lol, minus the badass bandana.

Just finished up R&C Crack in time after picking it up during the doorcrashers deal, was kinda disappointed in how many guns were repeats or slightly different versions of weapon from the last game, but still had a good time with it. Now I'm playing just cause 2, and some of the stunts you can pull off in the game are amazing, its a ton of fun. Might replay FFT as well now, since that's easily the game I've replayed the most and I haven't done a play through yet this year.
