I think Cooke is a couple of years older. I didn't find them annoying apart from that one part with the train.

Cooke is older than Mack, by a few years I think.
Last Remnant is a long game but if you can play it on the PC instead then by all means do so. If you install it to the HD it helps some of the game's problems but it can get pretty frustrating, although it's pretty decent I guess.
Oh and I liked Infinite Undiscovery a lot, although Lost Odyssey/Blue Dragon are probably my favorites (by the way, the DLC for LO and BD are now discounted to 80 points each, well worth it for at least the add-on dungeons in both games).
If you have 3 bucks to burn check out Aphelion on xbox indies (there's a free trial too), it's a nice 5-10 hour turn-based RPG, I had a lot of fun with it. And as far as wrpgs go I actually really enjoyed Divinity 2, if you can get past the graphics it's got a lot of stuff to do.
I couldn't get into Last Remnant. I'll go back and try it again eventually.
I tried Lost Odyssey but I figured out I missed a couple things early on and lost momentum. I can't remember what made me stop but I think I was having an issue with an early boss or something.
The first couple of bosses seem to be the hardest for most people. I didn't lose to them, but they did give me a lot of problems, especially the second boss being a two parter (most don't account for that and don't have the energy to continue fighting). If you get past those bosses, there isn't a whole lot that is incredibly difficult.
the game really picks up when you get 5 party members.
I think that's fast becoming one of my favorite mistwalker trademarks, since it's so damn convenient lol
The first few bosses were a bit tough indeed. There was one I can't remember that took me a few tries, but think was 2nd or 3rd, it's been awhile. Cooke, Mack, Rucha and Rico are main 4 I like that's not annoying that I can think of.
Should be fun playing Infinity Mode just for a 1 point Achievement, although I might just do the rest of my achievements on Infinity.
I've been wanting to replay BD, I enjoyed playing that one alot. King Poo and Gold Mecha were a bit of a pain IIRC.
Once I get back I'll look into LR and Aphelion. I forgot I was trying out Enchanted Arms but stopped playing for some reason.
So anyone playing Lost Planet 2? Ive read that it's getting tons of bad reviews online (lulz reviewers) but that every gamer is giving it rave reviews and they are saying it's a great fun game.
Enchanted Arms is a lot better than people say
So also, apparently all the Bullet Witch DLC is discounted to 20 points each, so I could get all of them for like 340 points total... I love that game lol
Well, I got some hw tonight, but think I'll check out Fragile Dreams tomorrow. Or maybe I'll finally continue along with DQ9.
Eagerly awaiting Arc Rise Fantasia :D
edit: I looked at the gamefaqs board (lol) and apparently a ton of people are getting called to pick the game up tomorrow? >.>
it'll probably be a week![]()
Whenever I get some time I'll pick EA up again, that's if I remember. Was fixing to say I thought Arc Rise Fantasia didn't release till next week. Too bad I won't get to play it till a few weeks later. But at least I can hear about some of it from you guys in Arc Rise thread. I just hope it's not incredibly short and has some decent replay value.
Lost in Shadow is coming out in Japan this week, I'm gonna try and play the jp iso (hopefully it gets dumped this week) to tide me over til Arc Rise lol
I posted a few other rpgs in the indies game thread I made a while back, none are really as good as Aphelion except maybe Breath of Death VII. I think I might actually spend another 3 bucks and get the full version of Soulcaster, since it's pretty cool even though it's not technically an RPG.
I rented it not long ago, and immediately felt like I was playing a strange new version of Monster Hunter with Guns!
That aside, I did have quite a bit of fun, and have been meaning to rent it again to finish it. The levels are broken apart in to a few chapters and the final chapter always is some MASSIVE beast that takes a good chunk of time to bring down. This is all playing co-op of course as that is the most fun by far.
I had a few gripes like spending 30 - 40 mins on a level only to have every one die and have to start all over again. That got tedious on a few of the harder levels. The game apparently gets much more customizeable once you finish it the first time. You start unlocking unique armor and that is where it starts to look like this:

As is the case with most games that I play... they would be a lot more fun if more people i knew played them =( As it is though, with just pickup groups full of strangers it was still a damn good time. Looks beautiful and SOUNDS fucking fantastic through my MixAmp/Headphones... the audio cues in this game are unlike most i have played.
Anyway... yeah, there you go.
waiting for Red Dead Redemption from gamefly, anything i need to know before going for trophys?
Once you get a horse, keep it. If it dies, reload. There's a trophy for keeping the same horse for 20 missions, and it's the only one that is missable or a pain in the ass to go back and get.
Technically, you are given 2 horses by the first mission provider but one replaces the other and they both count for the total. Makes sense to keep it anyway, the 2nd one you get from them is the best horse by far at that stage of the game.
the only problem with that is that the game forces you to use a different horse for a few missions-- when you first get into mexico for exampe, you exit the cutscene on a random horse.
edit: oh nvm apparently those don't count, fucking sweet lol
I'm currently playing Red Dead atm as well, the only things I don't like about this game are the save system, and maybe the fact that half the game's story is told to you while riding your horse all over the fucking place lol
I also just bought 3d dot heroes since it was $30 again on Amazon, been dying to find something to buy to use the 2 day free shipping >.>
So, this game has a good tower defense, huh!? Can't wait to try it out. Tower defense games are so addicting. D:
If you start from the beginning, you should get the trophy before Mexico though.
There are about 23 missions before that point that count towards it. There are some wagon missions in there but as long as you never hitch another horse, the one you get will stay with you even through those missions.
woo! I was shocked when the earlier poster said it got bad reviews. I meant to mention it because I played the demo last week and really liked it. Just one level of chasing a giant fucking wormapede around and jumping between all the different grenades, guns and mobile suit things was exhilarating, despite me being horribly slow at killing it. I've always wanted to play Monster Hunter and so that comparison has me really wanting to play this now as well.
