Just finished Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance. Good game, I would recommend it.
Trying to play/beat all the Castlevania games over time. Aria of Sorrow is next, but I may try GTA4 first.
Also, about to try Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 demo. First one was pretty good, at least the demo was. I would probably buy it on the cheap.
I never recalled having to grind in FF2 outside of a couple segments where I boosted some HP for a couple members prior to a boss fight.
Granted, what really did kick my ass (and I never finished to this day) was the unlockable story in the GBA release after you beat the game. I couldn't fucking do shit after the first town, all the mobs spam high-level magic and all I got are four story characters with jack shit.
Anyways, picked up Fight Night Round 4 for a tenner yesterday, been enjoying it so far aside from the feeling that game severely lacks content (all it has is a versus and a career mode, along with online, that's it, other game modes are DLC), but considering what I paid it's ok I guess. Used my cam to put myself in the game, and it was a bit uncanny how close it made the fighter look like me, just wish the game had more hairstyle options. Been getting my ass handed to me in the career mode, but a lot of that has to do with the controller refinements over Fight Night 3 which I'm still getting used to. They improved the controls greatly, I just need to adapt still is all. No more crazy joystick maneuvers to pull off haymakers anymore, loving that, you just hold down a modifier button instead prior to the motion.
Had a choice between DQ9 or Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow. I'm not regretting buying awaken shadow because it's actually pretty damn good. I still yet to finish Blue Dragon on 360 and plus on ds a couple years ago.
This game can be hard as fuck, when it wants to, the bosses do not fuck around. Still waiting for Blue Dragon 2 details. Hopefully will be shown at TGS this year.
Never played the GBA version for more than 5 min. since my friend let me screw around with it during our lunch break in high school once, though yeah it's not too bad for HP/MP. It's just magic is a pain since most spells can only be used in battle. Enhancing/Enfeebling magic is the worst since unless you get it to a high enough tier it misses most of the time.
As usual with games like these, I'll just get the single-player trophies.
Fuck the 3 gold trophies online, I'll only bother with those when the game is near dead since I believe the server passes the holder of the belt if they're offline for a period of time, giving me a better chance of getting it.
Got any advice for general play? One thing that fucked my legion run was that it scaled the stats down on my custom boxer by a shitload and took the wrong stats down. Wtf am I going to do with 50 left/right arm punching power? It put 99 towards my body/heart for some reason.
Hope Fight Night Championships finds a way to improve upon FN4, as aside from just more gameplay modes (and not milking the DLC), I honestly can't see much that could be added, aside from perhaps tag-team boxing, which would be awesome for online.
I honestly can't remember. IIRC your size or more specifically your reach seemed to have as much if not more bearing than most stats. It's been a while since I played though. I got into the mid-20s and hit a wall of fighters that just whooped my ass.
It is really a sin that it took me so long to play Lost Odyssey. Shit I'm hating every minute at work now.
I agree on Lost Odyssey. Turn based RPGs are turn based RPGs, so the gameplay is what it is. I thought the story line was awesome, the ability system reminded me of FF9 (which is always a good thing), and the hit-timing-ring-thing added a little bit of fun to it. I think it's worth playing for sure.
Only on the second disk now but still loving Lost Odyssey. My only gripe so far is
Spoiler: show
I put Fallout 3 back in. I never recalled the enclave attacking me until later in the game, after story quest and many levels. But as SOON as I got out of the vault and started walking towards the school, I got jumped by the enclave. I nearly shat myself.
Mass Effect on PC. I can't believe how long I have held off from these games, but glad I did with my new setup because it looks fucking amazing cranked. How many of you disabled the film grain effect? I find myself switching on and off, I can't help but feel that it sometimes seems like some RF input fuck up.
Let's see...
Got 100% completion in Lost in Shadow. Took me around 10-15 hours, really an amazing amazing game. It'll probably fly completely under the radar when it comes out in the US, which is a real shame since it's one of the best games on Wii.
Then went though Dive: The Medes Islands Secret on Wiiware. Took about 3-5 hours to get everything, 10 stages and upgradeable gear and all the treasures/achievements. It definitely had an endless ocean vibe but side scrolling with some metroid-ish elements. So far it's probably my 3rd favorite Wiiware game ever, after Lit and LostWinds.
Then played some Outpost Kaloki X on xbox, got almost through the whole adventure story. Neat game, although definitely not worth the 800 points they're charging for it. I got a used copy of the Arcade Compilation for $7 bucks, which had Outpost Kaloki X and 4 other games including Wik Fable of Souls, which I've always wanted. Ninjabee is pretty good at making engrossing strategy games, really can't wait for World of Keflings.
Then picked up Dark Void for $9.99 at gamestop. I'm kinda torn on it. Neat concept (and phenomenal soundtrack), and I'm definitely a fan of alternate WWII-era history... but some things about it weren't executed quite right. Flying around feels a LOT better in the retail version than the demo for whatever reason and it becomes a lot more satisfying as you get better at playing the game, and I enjoyed the 6 or so hours it took me to beat it, but I would have been REALLY pissed if I paid 60 bucks for this. Still, I will probably go back and play it again for achievements at some point.
Now really sinking my teeth into Arc Rise Fantasia. About 20 hours in, other than the voice acting it's a pretty solid RPG. Battles are turn-based but the AP system keeps them interesting, there are some neat weapon/magic/combat elements but the way MP works kinda pisses me off. Bosses can be very tough if you're underleveled and the lack of some way to heal at save points and AoE healing spells kinda hurts my enjoyment of the more difficult fights, but overall I'm having fun with it.
I don't even know what to play next. Deadly Premonition I guess? Maybe Castlevania for xbox if the single player is good.
edit: oh and I forgot about the Alan Wake DLC, The Signal. Great add-on, the combat sections were really amazing. Alan Wake is seriously one of my favorite games of the year, really can't wait to play more of it.
I think that's it. I go through games way too fast.
Not to bash but, Lit?? I felt like Lit was student project level garbage... along with most other WiiWare titles. Lost Winds, World of Goo, to name a few, are massive leaps and bounds beyond stuff like that...
Anyhoo...
Still playing FFXIII on/off as I'm waiting for my girlfriend to catch up to where I'm at (pretty much the end) so I can continue working for achievements without spoiling anything as it is a tradition for me to 100% Final Fantasies.
Still playing FFXI until FFXIV hits the shelves...
Spent the last few days 100%ing Super Mario Galaxy 2. Mother fuck that final star, I could only do it with my girlfriend on 2nd player to freeze half the shit in each area.
Just now got Street Fighter IV and Blaz Blue: Continuum Shift to mostly fuck around, challenging the GF and vice versa, as we both suck at them pretty bad.
I need some nice 2D independent games to play... I really wish Limbo was on PSN or PC.
Well yeah, the graphics for Lit are kinda meh but I really liked the gameplay and concept. I like survival horror type stuff and I really liked the puzzles, so it was a perfect fit for me. But I can definitely see what you mean. Maybe I just have a soft spot for WayForward-- shantae and boy and his blob, actually I'm really looking forward to the new Batman wii game...
Anyway for the most part the Wiiware games are pretty meh. The 3 S-E games were good (although I like Little King's Story much more than FFCC: My Life as King), LostWinds 1 & 2, Nyxquest, and I definitely rank Dive up there now too.
There's a few other interesting ones, Tomena Sanner, Zombie Panic in Wonderland, Muscle March, Max and the Magic Marker. I hear good things about Swords & Soldiers and Jett Rocket as well, and the Bit Trip series.
I feel like the only person in the world to feel this way. But I couldn't get into Mass Effect at all. I played about 20 hours of it, but that was mostly me forcing myself through the game. Maybe it was because I was in a gaming funk at that time and couldn't get into much of anything. But I was bored as hell with it and never went back to complete. Thinking of using these game cards I got to download and give it another shot. But with the games I got now plus FFXIV coming out I doubt I'll get into the series until they're old.
Nah, I felt the same with ME1.
But I did force myself all the way through and I had a feeling that I would enjoy ME2 a lot more (and I did). Though I did miss some things from the first like the inventory and skill management.
Though really I don't know if I missed anything else, heh.
Shameless promotion here, but a buddy of mine just tossed a game he put together on indiepubgames as part of a contest. He's hoping to sell it on xbawks live next year.

I played the beta to help him test, and I thought it was a fun game. It's a 2D puzzle game that takes place on a 3D cube.
Picked up Mega Man Powered Up, Mega Man Maverick Hunter X, and Castlevania Chronicles for PSP from the good ol' bargain bin.
For some reason I seem drawn more to Powered Up at the moment playing through it's revised version of the original's stages, without all the retarded bullshit that still makes me rage to this day. Unsure if it's the nostalgia, the cutesy graphics, or just the gameplay, but I'm enjoying it. Will probably aim for 100%'ing it unless some of those later challenges end up being rage inducing.
Maverick Hunter X looked to be a labour of love for the developers also, running a slick framerate, looking great, and surprisingly not fucking horrible voice acting for a Mega Man game, other than extremely campy line deliveries from the bosses. Currently trying to figure out where the fuck to get the dash boots as they moved the power-ups about. I can't stand an MMX game without being able to dash through the stages.
Dracula Chronicles feels like the weakest link atm, with its visuals not being as detailed, and a shitty framerate (feels like it's locked at 15fps). Have to say I was overjoyed when I learned I could just jump up the stairs unlike the linear Castlevania games before it, no moonwalking action on said stairs unfortunately. Game seems fucking tough though, got my ass handed to me repeatedly by a skeleton boss in stage 2, 4 hits and I'm dead. Will probably be having more fun with it when I unlock the 2d version of Rondo of Blood as well as SoTN.
