A while back someone posted some really gorgeous screenshots of Tales of the Abyss. I think on the Graces thread, but I don't wanna bump it just to post this.

Any idea what the settings were?

I can get my game to look pretty damn good, but nothing compared to those screenshots.

In response to this thread, I just farmed nearly 1000 grade yesterday just playing the game in the background, about to start a new game. Dunno how much grade I have exactly, I know I had around 2500 before I started this, so around 3500ish probably. No clue what to get. 10x exp would be too expensive and would take up most of the grade, and would probably make the game too easy. dunno. Game keeps freezing on me though while trying to go through the final dungeon, pissing me off.

Are you running an emulator or a modded PS2? Emulator on a nice PC with settings all properly set up can look damn nice. I wish that half the Wii games on Dolphin looked as good on the actual Wii =(

This is what it looks like running on my comp... didn't do anything special cept increase the D3D internal resolution to 2048x2048, looks nearly as good at lower settings too tbh




EDIT: Just updated my pcsx2 (was running a version from Sept 2009 with old plugins, lol) runs better and looks better too (those lines you see at the top and on the side actually did appear on my screen while I was playing but with the updated svn and plugins they do not)

EDIT2: Also, if you do increase the resolution settings you'll need to change the pixel offset in "GSdx.ini" to -8

Picked up Blue Dragon and Enchanted Arms again. I probably won't bother with Enchanted Arms till I get used to Blue Dragon again. I also have no clue how to play Enchanted Arms or where to go next after I left out, but maybe I can still view the battle tutorial wherever the hell I am. I know it's not that far in, though, I think I'm at Ragau Coast.

I loaded my old save on BD at Prim Cube and had no fucking clue what half of the shit did again, lol. I forgot about all the different classes and 4 different types of Magic, all with nice set of spells. Then there's the skills you equip, wow, definitely gonna take a bit to get used to this again too.

Finished up the campaign on War For Cybertron. I'm satisfied enough with my 55% to not worry about getting into online play.

Not sure what to jump into next.

Awwww yeah. For some reason, it still doesn't feel as smooth as that one screenshot, but eh. Now if only it would stop freezing/crashing >.>

edit: andddd it just froze again. this is getting ridiculous

Hmm, I'm not getting any crashing/freezing issues except when I try to use an old version of GSdx (which is why I updated mine after getting the new version of the emulator).
Not sure how to help there other than to say maybe try a different version

what version of gsdx do you have/could you upload it? The latest one that I can find... doesn't seem to be the latest.

Oh man, kinda wish I had spent a few more hours farming grade. Got 3770, no clue what to spend it on.

2x exp (1000), 2x gald (600), increased OL (450) and grade bonus (100) are kinda given, 2150, leaves 1620.

Then I have to choose between titles, arte, arte usage, capacity cores, fs chambers, gald, etc... I suppose I could not take the grade bonus since, what's the chances I actually do a 3rd playthrough? idk, i'm gonna try to do a full-everything playthrough, so I guess not much point on titles unless I want to look pretty early in the game, meh

any suggestions :<

maybe i'll just go back and farm some more... never gonna start this playthrough

Definitively take capacity cores, artes is actually fairly low on my list of things to transfer which I am sure a lot of people would disagree with but the game gives you them early enough.
Also, if you're going to play on unknown I'd farm up enough grade for 10x exp.
Throw on some dice/blue dice and head to the Cheagle Woods and just one shot shit for some very fast grade.

Need to beat Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age, Assasin's Creed II, Splinter Cell Conviction, Dead Space, Starcraft II campaign, and Transformers WFC before FF14 comes out. And I gotta get Mafia 2 for sure on the 24th

If you leave the level without completing it then yes. The monsters will always respawn even if you leave at the END of the level. There are a few exceptions like some of the dark tendency mobs but yeah, you can't clear just 'sections' of a level. All or nothing!
