I love how that bridge is full of so many enemies you're just thinking "ugh, there's no way" and out of nowhere this giant dragon's like "let me take care of that for you!" plus, if I remember right, you get all the souls from the demons he kills... thank you, mr. dragon!

Still have a pretty big backlog myself. But, trying to focus on Tales of Symphonia atm. Got a few friends begging me to try this out. Loving the story and characters so far. Combat is fun, glad there's no random encounters. Though I feel there might as well be since enemies on the map respawn pretty quick, or are within inches of each other sometimes. I'm one of those people that "has" to kill it if I see it on screen, so it's mostly my fault too...

Symphonia is definitely tight, especially if you get some multiplayer going... god damn 'Tales of' games are hot when you get multiplayer going.

It is battle only, but if you're playing with people who don't really care about the story and characters you probably shouldn't try playing the game with them.
Just doesn't work like that.

I've never actually gotten someone to play one and had them dislike it.
Try having your buddies actually play one of yours if you own any of the games.

I've gotten several people into the series just by having them play one, starting a new game file with them with me as 2nd player and then just leaving them to their thing (leaving the game with them).

As a matter of fact, I left my PS2 and Tales of the Abyss with my sister at her apartment maybe 2 weeks ago (which is why I'd been emulating it lately instead of playing on ps2). She AND her husband are enjoying it.

What Tales game would you/do you generally recommend someone play, if the person has never played a Tales game before? All this talk about it has me curious, and I've been looking for a fun RPG.

Tales of Symphonia (gamecube), Tales of the Abyss(ps2) and Tales of Vesperia(360) are the fan-favorites so I'd say pick up any of those for whichever of those systems you own.
Personally, Tales of Eternia (ps1/psp) is my favorite and I'd also recommend giving it a shot if you can't get your hands on the others for whatever reason. Tales of Eternia is also known as Tales of Destiny II for the US version but... there's actually a Tales of Destiny 2 released in Japan for ps2 so don't get that confused with the PS1 game.

one more question though, do i have to be in body form to open the world tendency door at the beginning 1-1?

You can do anything in soul form that you can do in body form, only difference is that you can't be invaded, and that your blue/black eye stones are usable.

That, and you don't lose world tendency dying in soul form also.

Nerding out and recording/YouTubing my current Tales playthrough atm. Also playing Castlevania: Harmony of Despair a ton, although there's not a whole lot left to do but farm the best equipment and souls at this point. Playing other random older stuff on the side too, like Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce. Despite all the Super Saiyan nonsense, it's surprisingly fun thanks to online co-op. Thinking of finally picking up Demon's Souls when I'm done with Tales, but the price has shot up since it came out in EU. It's half the cost to buy the foreign version(s) on Amazon.co.uk than it is the actual UK release...

Went back to playing Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit on my PC which I kinda .....ignored for half a year after only putting 3 hours into it.

I knew what to expect later on in the game, but I have to reiterate....in spoiler tag form.

WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK

Oh well, at least I saw it through to the end, am glad the devs behind the game improved their core concept greatly for Heavy Rain, as there were so many fucking bad design decisions, both in the gameplay, and the story telling.

Granted, Heavy Rain's story is full of plot holes, but it was still gripping for me, where-as the second Lucas turned Super Saiyan in Indigo I just completely lost it.

[EDIT] Oh jeez, watching some of the unlockables, I'm surprised they mocapped almost everything. I guess they were on a budget, or perhaps technical limitations at the time because I thought a lot of it was done by hand because it was so stilted or robotic at times during the game.

Ah well, can't wait for Heavy Rain's PS Move patch, as I'll be playing it again when that's out as I want to get my platinum, but I also wanted a break from when I beat it months ago so everything isn't as fresh in my mind.

Thanks, guess I'll check out Abyss first since currently the only of those three systems that I own (in working condition -- looking at you, 360) is the PS2. I have a feeling I'm gonna have a hard time getting used to the combat system lol, I don't know how accurate this comparison is yet, but the only game I've played that seems like it had a similar system was FFXII.

Anyway, currently I've been playing Madden 11, thinking about finishing up the trophies for Heavy Rain sometime this week. Considering giving up on Red Dead Redemption and trading it in to Amazon along with a few of my 360 games since that just currently died. I really wanted to finish the trophies in RDR but the online modes are horrible, mostly due to the piss-poor controls. Loved the single player, but I feel like I'd rather have someone waterboard me than force myself to tolerate the multiplayer.

I really shouldn't be asking what Tales game to play first, I have a backlog that's probably longer than anyone elses on these forums and inevitably, Tales will end up on it as well unless it just completely captivates me. I have a very hard time finishing any RPG.
