Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, guy i work with and myself just killed Tigrex for the first time on 5 stars. he can seriously eat a bowl of dicks. small gunner + bow = impossible to gauge, yeah i said it.

Using any ranged weapon not Heavy Bowgun = autofail, sorry brah.

Once again, I have to say it... as far as monster hunter is concerned... if the weapon doesn't have "gun" in the name I probably didn't like it much. (Lance aside, but I liked Gunlance more even though it took more work to get the same damage output of lance which had inferior damage output to some of the other weapons... /shrug)

I was playing Arc Rise Fantasia on my twin's friend Wii, but he decided to try and modd it, but ended up bricking whole system I guess? So I can't finish it unfortunately till I get back in september. I only brought my Xbox with me, didn't expect to be gone this long, so didn't bring my other shit with me. I really wanted to play ARF

ah that sucks. I had a blast with ARF, it stops counting at 100 hours but I think I put in 120-130 to do everything. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it.

Well if you want to play something turn-based RPGish, download the trial for Aphelion on xbox indies. It's a lot of fun, and a huge amount of content for 3 bucks.

Whats the story on ARF? Ive seen it in the stores for pretty cheap, and ive been looking for a good rpg to play through. Im replaying valkryie profile 2, and like 6 other games at once lol.

horrible voice acting, and your typical full-of-holes jrpg story, but otherwise a really good game. The game seems to borrow a lot of aspects from other RPGs, but everything works really well together so the game is really fun even if it's not that original. The weapon system is really great though, and there's an arena as well as guild quests and a shitload of optional bosses and weapons.

For me it's one of the better RPGs of the current generation, but not everyone can look past the admittedly horrendous voice work. I really liked the soundtrack as well.

Ive never givin a shit about voice acting or noticed when it was bad, Unless the sync was totally off with the lips or something. But it sounds like i could give it a try. Its for the wii? I was gonna get Spectral forces genesis for the DS this weekend But i might pick that up instead.
For the game systems it borrows from, can you name a few? I love disgaea.

Similarties are like...
Combat is a lot like Skies of Arcadia, every action costs a certain amount of AP out of a pool. Magic works a lot like FF3, with 4 different levels of spells with their own MP pools. The Magic system uses orbs placed on a ring to grant the user spells, which can be placed to give combination element or higher level spells. There are 12 summons (called Rogress), 3 of which are only obtained through hard optional battles. There are the equivalent to Moogles/Kelolons called Kopin. You also get costumes/skits between party members while traveling like a Tales game.

I forgot to mention that boss fights in this game are really challenging, I definitely had to redo them or grind up to beat the boss a few times.

Sweet. Magic tiers sounds nice, Cant say i ever played skies of arcadia, However i did love the tales games and their awesome outfit switcharoonies.

I was having alot of fun with ARF till that happened. 100 hours? Sounds like ARF will keep me busy longer than I thought. I been trying not to spoil myself so much, I keep looking at some of the endgame/late story stuff :/ I still have Trinity Universe to play, but I'll just put that on hold for awhile. From what I've seen, Leslie is pretty fucking awesome throught the whole game.

That's one thing I really hated about ARF, the costumes only show on Menu, not in battle or world map.

I loved how they showed everywhere in the tales games, nothing like spending the cutscene before the final boss in your swimwear

I'm usually not one to care that much about Costumes and stuff, but it just would have been nice to see them outside of the menu on ARF. And man, Skies of Arcadia one game I've yet to play, but heard quite few good things about it.

Skies of Arcadia is great, but in another few years it'll probably feel too dated to play. If you want to play it you should definitely pick up the gamecube version sooner rather than later

I'm gonna be playing it in a couple of weeks. I been wanting to break out the Gamecube again and replay Tales of Symphonia for like the 5th time. I'm still on the fence about trying out Baten Kaitos(sp). Skies is a must play, though.

the first Baten Kaitos was really good, although it too had really bad voice acting lol

come to think of it, I'm pretty sure that was the first non-final fantasy RPG I ever finished

The first Baten Kaitos? There's more than one? Lol, didn't know that. I'll see if I can get into Baten Kaitos once I'm back. And I forgot that quick Wii plays gamecube games also, been so long since I last played, so I forgot. As for Voice Acting, I'm so used to it now that it doesn't bother me so much.

Yea the first Baten Kaitos is just called Baten Kaitos. The sequel is actually a prequel, called Baten Kaitos Origins, but it isn't anywhere near as good.
