Siliconera Playtest/Review of the Knights in the Nightmare PSP version for anyone interested since I brought it up earlier today in this thread.

re: Knights in the Nightmare: maybe I'm an idiot, I don't know, but as far as the DS version was concerned, I didn't know what the fuck was going on. It seemed really cool at face value and I liked the idea of a complicated, in-depth DS game, but it lost me really quickly.
Also thanks for the GBA recommendations, a surprising wealth of awesome shit, including Astro Boy, made for a fun weekend.
Ok, dusted off Blur. Took all of 5 hours. Think I'm gonna finally move on to FF13, though Red Dead looks good too. Eh, guess I'll take a small break from games then make my pick.
Getting the urge to play Terranigma again, was a great game although the sidequests to help expand the cities was pointless since there wasn't a reward for it. And the story got confusing during the last bit once you get all 5 starstones.
Super Scribblenauts looking to steal some of my time away. A lot better than the first one thanks to tweaked touch controls along with being able to use the d-pad/facebuttons for moving instead, as well as more varied levels. Have yet to see the usual levels from the first where you'd just jetpack ftw.
Tempted to pick Alundra off PSN, seems like my kinda game.
Downloaded Gradius Collection on my PSP and forgot how much I loved, yet hated Gradius. Dying before a boss sucks.
For Gradius Collection, I pretty much just make a save point (got to love games that allow save states) whenever I hit 3 options + lasers and reload that whenever I died. >.>
That game was one of the better compilations I've bought in the past few years.
Spoiler: show
Didn't know that. I assumed saves were for your high score. For me I got pretty far in Gradius Gaiden, but the plant world boss sucks without powerups. Organic Fortress wasn't fun either due to those flower things staying around a few seconds even after they're dead.
I can't be arsed to fight a boss vanilla, you just move too fucking slow without at least two upgrades in speed. I don't think I got that far in Gaiden. I mostly focused on 2/3 because the music kicked some ass.
I'm more used to one speed upgrade, if I get 2 I crash on the walls too easily.
Never got a chance to play infamous before. But since I ended up hating XIV I decided to go ahead and pick it up. Just finished the first island, but great game is great. Just wish I didn't wait so long before picking it up
been playing dead rising 2 and i kinda fucked up but i said fuck it and restarted the story but im off to a good start since i got a few trophys i missed and now i know what to do in the game i can have some fun making more weapons. also trying to finish LBP since 2 is coming out in jan. i cant believe GT5 got delayed too, too many games coming out lol
Fucckkkk, I have soo many games on my plate since I cancelled my XI account, I have about 30+ games unfinished, a few I never I even touched like silent hill homecoming and fallout 3, still doing dead rising 2 chrono trigger/advance wars ds. On a note about CC and CT, never played CT, but I plan on playing it on my laptop soon
Installing Front Mission Evolved... been wanting some action like the old-school Armored Core games and this one looks like it'll deliver. I sure as hell hope it does.
EDIT: the game is damn fun but it just randomly crashed on me... ARGH
anyone else play the Might and Magic games at all? I'm not talking Heroes, I'm talking straight-up old-school M&M. I'm playing through World of Xeen right now and loving it; I was addicted to Isles of Terra as a teenager and this is the very definition of "more of the same." which is a good thing in this case.
got the six-pack from gog.com but I doubt I'll ever try out I or II. I played a bit of VI but can't figure out what I'm doing, being that it's on a different engine from III through V. didn't really try hard though, I'll get into that once I'm done with the Xeen games... if the notion of a replay through III doesn't pull me in first.
Started up FFIV last night. Nostalgia bomb.
Picked up New Vegas yesterday. That pretty much covers it.
I think MAG has become my new addiction. Owned the game under a week, and already clocked 16 hours in. >.>
Game took a few hours to grow on me, but not I can't stop playing it for the most part, and I'm usually not even into competitive online FPS. Game is just so fucking hectic on the 128-player modes though that its basically in its own category of online gaming to me, especially when you got squad leaders who are communicating with one another and simultaneously taking out enemy targets.
When I'm not playing MAG, I'm usually running amuck in Alundra in 1 hour sittings. Game is enjoyable, some decent puzzles. Two of my pet peeves with it so far though is that the game should have been isometric, or some other view so I actually have a bloody sense of what's above/below me when it comes to the platforming sections, as well as mobs in general requiring far too many hits to die. Slimes at the start of the game require 6 smacks, and now in this desert-dungeon, I got these orc mobs that require 10. Gets annoying when I'm backtracking through a dungeon just to double-check a puzzle. Otherwise it's enjoyable, lots of exploring to do which was my main reason for getting it.
once you get the fire wand the game really opens up... so much exploring to do, for sure. it makes Zelda's typical heart-piece-hunting look like a kiddie easter egg hunt in comparison. and the fighting gets better, charge attacks help a lot and the ultimate sword is unbelievably easy to get if you know how (though it's practically cheating).
as for me, I have a question for you all: does anyone else go buy expensive games and then spend all your time playing some cheap old crap you've had for ages? just bought Fallout: New Vegas and while I love it, I still spent the whole weekend playing Might and Magic: World of Xeen.
New Vegas: PS3 graphics, fully fleshed-out story with loads of NPCs, incredible environments, well-written dialogue, atmospheric as all hell, $60.
M&M: crappy old PC graphics, barely any story, generic NPCs with at most two lines of dialogue, mundane fetch quests, stilted gameplay, $10.
and I choose the latter. wtf is wrong with me?
