Oh nice, I hadn't been following TOO closely so I didn't know that a beta had even started. Can you be any more specific about what it is that you are liking about it? I am really not sure how interested I am in it just yet.
Been playing a lot of DJ Hero 2 lately. Enjoyable game, but it's not something I'd recommend as heartily as the Rock Band series, but it's a nice mix-up for when I get bored, feel like music, but not busting out the larger plastic peripherals.
Also been playing through Red Faction 1 on the side (which I'll follow-up with Red Faction 2 when beaten). Game hasn't aged too gracefully, and the shooting gameplay is stupidly simple by todays standards (especially with the simple AI), but I'm having fun, sometimes mocking the way things work since it was acceptable at the time, like terribad vehicle controls in an FPS, or forced stealth sections that plain don't work.
Bandwidth reset as well, so I got TOCA Race Driver 3 downloading in Steam as I've been wanting a racing fix since GT5 isn't happening soonish, and TOCA seemed to have gotten decent ratings overall for its time, with a lot of content to boot. Game isn't exactly new so I'm hoping to max out the visuals unlike say, GRID, which is bottlenecked by my aging CPU and runs a flaky 30fps. Just hope it plays well with my G27.
(got both of the games along with Fuel, Dirt 1 & 2 awhile go during a Codemasters sale on Steam, couldn't pass all that up for $18 when Dirt 2 retailed for $40 alone during that time, just have yet to download them all still)
[EDIT] Jesus fucking shit, TOCA 3 has got to be by far the jack of all trades of racing games. It has pretty much every vehicle that I can think of that I'd actually want to race. Formula 1? Check. GT Racing? Check. Offroading, Go Karts, Monster Trucks, Baja? Check, check, check, check. Seems to be at least 30 different classes of vehicles in the game, going to enjoy checking them all out. The handling on the go karts makes me warm and fuzzy inside, just wish I had item boxes skittered about to attack with Mario Kart style. Shitload of tracks in the game also, so I shouldn't be getting bored quick of it like I did GRID.
The only thing I don't get about the game is how it has clutch support (which *will* lead to you stalling your car if you suck at driving standard), but no support for a butterfly gear shifter. Regardless, game will definitely tide me over until GT5 gets released.
Some of your comments about DMC should be a fucking sin.
Currently playing:
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga. I've owned both for a couple of years now but never got around to 'em. Very interesting games, I love the graphical style a lot.
I will slap you, casual ass mother fucker.
Red Faction Guerrilla. Smash Smash Smash!
Story is garbage, shooting is terrible, but I don't care cause all I wanna do is fucking slam people with my sledge hammer, and destroy the fuck out of buildings!
Though I wish there were more building I could destroy with just the sledge hammer instead of having to relay on smashing into buildings with a truck then running out and then tossing around bombs, then running away so I dont die
yea the game doesn't even need a story, but it's immensely satisfying to smash the shit out of everything. I really hated some of the challenges and races but fuck it is amazing to level an office building with a hammer
Just gave Overlord a try. Feels like Pikmin, but with a demonic twist.
Overlord is pretty great, but as far as Pikmin-type games go you can't beat Little King's Story. IMO it's even better than Pikmin
What console? I found the game kind of fun for it's puzzle elements.
Overlord is fun no doubt, although using the mouse for Sweeping is a bit annoying.
Little King's Story is Wii only. It's definitely one of the top 5 third party wii games for sure
Might give it a shot, although I still think I might try to XS every mission in Trauma Team. Been meaning to get into that again.
Customization is pretty hawt to say the least. You get to choose a "Mentor" ( if you are a hero or villan... mine is Batman ) and your mentor unfluences how your combat tree and items you use. Powers range from Ice , Fire , Mental , Arcane , Gadegets... I am not impressed by Gadgets too much ( think SV hunter in terms of traps). I personally use Ice as a power ( ice blast is fucking sick ). Also, can either choose to fly, acrobatics ( think Yoda saber dueling sidious... that is how you move) and speed. Can even choose weapons as well ( am dual wielding swords atm ). Level cap is 30 as of right now. Heros get access to the hall of justice while villans get the hall of doom.
Just finished FFXIII and working on doing 5 Stars on all the Missions and the rest of my Trophies when I get burned out on that I ordered Arkham Asylum for $20 and should be here in the next day or so so that should occupy my nicely. I just hope it's as good as the reviews make it out to be.
I wanted to play Force Unleashed II but after the horrific reviews I've seen I'm definitely going to wait till I can get it real cheap. No way I'm spending $60 on a game I can blow through in like 4 hours.
After that I'm not sure, I want to play New Vegas but I'm not dealing with glitches every 5 minutes. Seems like the RPG genre is just slowing down a lot. I miss my games like Breath of Fire and Wild Arms.
I just hooked up a controller, made life easier. I wasn't too fond of the 'holding both left/right mouse button' ordeal. Granted, the game is screwy on my PC for some reason, always running a shit 15fps in outdoor locations, while indoor ones run a full 60fps. Never could find a solution to that. Game hates nVidia's 8800-series cards for some reason. I should probably download Overlord 2 and see if that was fixed though.
I really need to get back to work on XIII. I played it for an hour yesterday and stopped when I encountered a boss (one on the highway on cocoon late in the game, gets in a big flying mech thing) that wouldn't stop attacking my healer. I guess I'll try it again later with Fang on Sentinel and hope to steer the attacks away from the other two idiots who keep standing next to each other. I can't play that game in long sittings for some reason. ;/
Will be getting burnt out easily though on having to trek all the fucking way through most of Pulse again though for the missions I ignored the first time through due to their difficulty at the time. Probably going to have to find me a farming guide also for CP/Weapon Upgrades.
As for Batman, game is fucking awesome. I only wish it were longer, but at least there's always the Riddler's puzzles to solve if you want more hours out of it.
Yeah once I did enough gold farming to max out a few of my weapons I'd maxed out the 3 primary roles of my team (Light, Fang, Hope) and got a little way into their next roles I wanted to work on and I ripped through just about everything in Eden in the end.
When I found Fang taking way too much damage and it was more of an HP thing rather than a damage mitigation thing I would dump Snow in there and he would get his face pounded in and not even blink. But when I used Light to tank and using Elude and Nimbletoe Boots she was a crazy evasion tank that rarely needed cures.
I'm just not looking forward to the grind of maxing out my characters to make these boss fights easier. Growth Egg will help a lot but right now I'm fairly happy with my weapons and just need to level up my other weapons to get my Treasure Hunter Trophy. I still have Light with her Stage 2 Axis Blade and will now probably just work on her Lionheart since she apparently loses her ATB bonus when it goes to Stage 3. The grinding I think will get old really fast for me and make me not even want to get Treasure Hunter or 5 star some of the missions.
Looking forward to AA though, of course my wife might not be too please with me picking up a new game without finishing the old one yet again then never picking the old one up for another 18 months.
Anyone play NISA games a lot? ZHP just released last week, haven't got chance to check it out yet, but it looks pretty decent.
