@Kaisha, you can explore a little and actually run into npcs and items that give you quests too. So if you get bored of Claptrap quests, give the level a quick run-through and make sure theres no npcs you need to talk to. Then, you'll get more and more "dungeon quests" so the main area will become more and more of just a hub for you.

playing Oblivion. got access to Arcane University, realized I want to get rid of Mysticism as a major skill (constantly casting Detect Life is making me level up way too fast) and am toying with the idea of restarting. completing all those quests is a pain in the ass though, even if it isn't very difficult.

then again, maybe I'll just start up a character in Morrowind instead.

Started up Uncharted 1, liking it so far. Was thinking of going for the Plat, but not sure. Is crushing difficulty all that hard? I've only died a couple of times on Normal, nothing too difficult. Up to Chapter 4 atm.

If you plan to aim for platinum I'd just restart on Hard difficulty while you're still early on in the game, since you need to beat it on that difficulty to unlock Crushing.

Crushing isn't *that* much harder, aside from a couple cheap locations that may make you rage.

Yeah, you just have to be patient a lot for most of the game. There are more than a few spots where you will die over and over and over again until you know exactly when/where/how enemies will spawn and run in on you.
I thought it was fun on Crushing. Especially after successfully beating it. Uncharted 2 is a lot easier.
Most annoying part for me was probably

When you get to the place where your airplane crashed in the tree. The water pillar area gave me the biggest trouble in the entire game on any difficulty on Hard mode. I used the glitch to get past that section on Crushing.

I got Uncharted on black friday for 10 bucks. I personally died a lot less on Hard than Normal. Crushing so far hasn't been too difficult. You're forced to be patient and sometimes shooting blind instead of aiming. Enemies tend to approach you more often in Crushing as well, use that to your advantage.

Back to playing Borderlands today...

Starting to really hate the alpha skags and pretty much any mob that has a strong shell with hard-to-hit weak points. Aside from that, trying to work my way towards the quest that unlocks fast travel as I'm really getting tired of backtracking all over the place. Really wish the vending machines had a "Buy all ammo" option. Didn't start buying ammo until I realized it's dirt cheap compared to all the crap weapons you pickup&sell, so I just started maxing out ammo whenever possible.

Is there a decent means of dealing with mobs that have strong-points? Normally I wouldn't be having a problem aiming for the weak parts of a mob, but unfortunately I'm working with an analog-stick to aim vs. mouse/keyboard. Rocket launchers don't see to do much in terms of brute-forcing, and weapons that ignore shields seem to do nothing for innate armor.

Respec'ing is also cheap apparently? I don't know what I think of my build currently with Mordecai, but it's too early to tell. Tempted to respec and max out his +Crit% skill first though as that seems to work well with his +XP-on-crit-kill skill which I could use until a higher level and respec it out. Speaking of which, what's the deal with the level cap on the first playthrough? I recall hearing that you got +10 levels to play with on the second playthrough, but that was pre-DLC times. Do I still have to play through twice to hit the max cap (69 w/ all add-ons iirc), or was that removed?


I'm mainly trying to get a feel for the game's difficulty, but even on some of my current 'normal' quests, mobs take forever to kill. As for tough? I can't even survive if there's more than the one mob since I end up wasting the majority of my ammo on a single target. I'm taking it mobs won't respawn while you're in the same area at least (aside from the little skag hideouts where 5 or so come out as you kill them), so it's possible to just slowly grind through the mobs one by one.

Difficulty is all over the place just because of how random the weapons you can get are. I ended up stumbling across an SMG that fired like 4 bullets at a time instead of 1 and had a massive clip. The rest of the game ended up being ridiculously easy if I used that. And yes, respeccing is cheap, chances are by the end of the game (unless you buy weapons constantly) you'll have maxed out cash. Well, the counter stops counting once you hit all 9s but you still technically keep any cash above that.

By any chance do you know if +Skill items will put a skill above its cap? I ended up wasting all my cash when I discovered I could purchase max-ammo upgrades, and then I came across a class mod at the vending machine that adds +2 to three skills I use a lot.....but didn't have the cash for it to see for myself. >.>

Just finished up leveling all the weapons and getting all gold bolts in Ratchet & Clank: Crack in Time. I think I have about 3 trophies left to get but meh.

Also about 75% of the way through Fatal Frame 3. The story for this is kinda bad to be honest, I don't like this anywhere near as much as Fatal Frame 2 (the scariest imo) or Fatal Frame 4 (which had a great story). Still need to pick up a copy of the first Fatal Frame at some point.

Then played through Soulcaster II on XBL Indie Games, which was fantastic. If anyone has 240 MS pts to burn I'd definitely get it (or try the free trial).

Now I'm finally getting back to Folklore, hopefully I can actually make it through this time. This game isn't as boring as I remember, but I haven't started grinding for items for karma release yet.

Dunno what to play next, I'm thinking Penumbra on PC.

Friend got me killing floor, but I'm god awful without a crosshair. Those jumping humpers are annoying to fight. That and the fact my backup PC doesn't like the game that much for some reason due to slowdowns/random crashes.

Been bouncing between playing Borderlands:GOTY on PS3 still (much more fun after having gotten fast travel), and Sam & Max Season 3.

Borderlands I'm getting kinda OCD with, mainly with regards to finishing all the quests in a given area before moving on, even though I don't believe I even need 100% completion of those for trophy purposes. At least my inventory problem isn't an issue anymore after having gotten four upgrades, which is more than enough space to carry weapon drops and sell them later. For a Borderlands 2 though I hope they allow us to 'mark' inventory items. Main reason for that is so I could mark items that I want to keep, which would make it easier to for me to determine what I want to sell at the vendor.
(I'm bad with remembering names, so I have to keep going through the weapon list and checking the stats before I sell anything)


S&M Season 3 has been somewhat enjoyable. A lot of my beefs with the game are due to the port job, it's kinda unpolished on PS3. We're talking long loads between area transitions, extremely flaky framerate even in simple areas (my PC could run Season 1/2 at 60fps @ 1920x1200 no prob, why can't PS3 do it at 720p? ;/), and some inconsistent controls. It's a bitch trying to select a person's cell phone number to call with the teleport toy with the way they have it mapped out currently. They could have just given the player the option to use a virtual cursor like the Monkey Island 2:SE port did.

At least the humor is still there, lots of tongue-in-cheek moments I like, and apparently so does my sister, as she's been backseat driver'ing me the last two episodes. ;/

I ordered Nier 3 weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived, fuck this shitty weather and our postal system. I'm just playing the shit outta Monster Hunter Portable 3rd right now, with some Tales of Symphonia on the side. Was playing through Parasite Eve too but I haven't played in a couple of weeks, really need to get round to finishing that too.
