Trying out Star Wars Galaxies.
Been playing Malicious here and there over past few days, shit is fun, but hard at same time... I've gotten alot better now though, but still have repair alot sometimes... Got to last boss and didn't have slightest fucking clue on how to kill it so I'll have to go back to it sometime,
NFS Hot Pursuit and Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 just got here, so gonna be playing those now. Gonna start playing NUNS2 once I get done eating, can't wait
Played through Half-Life 1 on the Source version in two sittings. Enjoyed it, although probably not as much as the original version when I beat that a decade ago. Definitely has aged in some aspects, especially as far as aimbot AI goes, but it's manageable.
Got bored afterwards and decided to boot-up the original HL and took some comparison shots.
(HL Classic on left, Source on right. More in the spoiler)
Game was mostly touched up in terms of applying little detail textures over every texture in the game so they don't appear as blurry, along with the lighting (courtesy of the Source engine). The odd texture was also redone/touched-up (typically graphics with text). Obvious shader effects like water were included, although I'm undecided as to whether or not I prefer them as they kind of look out of place. Some areas got a geometrical boost in the props, as prominently displayed in some of the screencaps.
Granted, was disappointed Valve didn't use the high definition models that BlueShift came with in this pack.

Spoiler: show
finished The Witcher, that was an amazing game. For whatever reason the last 2 chapters cut you off from access to your safe and it makes the whole game feel a lot less like item management than it was in the previous chapters, which I felt like was a big part of its charm. Still, the story was amazing and if the final cutscene is any indication, the sequel is going to rock. I've been waiting like 3 years to play that game, and I'm glad I finally did. I went through one of the DLC episodes and I still have 1 more to go, they're nice little add-ons I guess.
Can anyone estimate how long it takes to beat Torchlight? Is there a lot of extra endgame stuff like diablo? I don't think I want to start Two Worlds 2 until I finish Dead Space 2
Finished up the God of War collection a few days ago.
Closed out the Professor Layton and the Unwound Future... man what a depressing ending. Interesting that every sequel has been a prequel chronologically as well.
Sent Layton back to Gamefly and have NIER on the way.
In the meantime I'm back to Fable 3 and Dead Rising 2: Case West.
Bought Magicka on Steam, pretty interesting although I only got through the tutorial.
Playing some Mega Man 10, getting trophies.
Monday Night Combat on PC.
think I'm giving up on Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes of Light. one thing breaks this game for me, one thing makes me want to quit, one thing frustrates me so much it drives me to distraction: not being able to pick your fucking target.
at first I was like "oh that's kinda cool, as long as the AI is smart, it'll streamline the gameplay." several problems with that theory:
- the AI isn't smart. it splits attacks between different enemies instead of ganging up on one enemy at a time to eliminate threats, which is a BASIC element of RPG strategy. and the curing AI is wonky too, I can't tell if it's based on HP damaged, HP remaining, or some combination of the two.
- sometimes there's a reason to pick the enemy I want to target. fighting a Hellhound and a Lizardman and I want to steal from the Hellhound. if I could choose, I'd kill the Lizardman first so he's not attacking me while I steal from the Hellhound. the AI ruins this plan by attacking the Hellhound first every time, since he's the bigger threat.
I didnt' think this would become a problem but it has, and it's pointless frustration - my least favorite kind of frustration. screw it.
on the bright side, I've found a game to move onto: Yoshi's Island DS. it has a few flaws - the soundtrack SUCKS in comparison to the original, and the dual screens can be annoying - but the level design is still top-notch, which is what made the first game so good.
That is the sole reason I always laughed at people passing it off as a fantastic game. Maybe it holds up well in other areas, but when you completely fuck up the battle system for absolutely no reason at all with that stupid shit... what the hell?
As for me, playing Tales of Vesperia (PS3) and Demon's Souls right now... Radiant Mythology 3 comes out next week which I'll definitely be playing through as soon as it hits, too. Also downloaded Lords of Shadow and got New Vegas for my birthday recently, so I might start those at some point.
yeah, it's a great game otherwise. such a shame that one poor decision brings the whole game down so much. I don't think I can bring myself to finish it.
I was just thinking of getting back into Demon's Souls, maybe I'll do that instead.
I'm playing TES IV: Oblivion with Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, Qarl's texture pack and a few other graphical/ui mods. I bought this on steam last summer and only put about 18 hours into it before I got distracted by other games. I started a new game with the mods yesterday, the game looks a hell of a lot better, and apparently level scaling is pretty much gone with the OOO mod. I might actually play it a lot more this time around.
I suggest giving the Nehrim mod a try at some point. It's pretty awesome, although lacks content in some areas.

Too many fucking games I got on my backlog....
Been in a point-and-click adventure mood lately, so I went and wasted the majority of my morning finishing up the first Broken Sword game (Director's cut version) which I started back during early January. Great game, and holds up well aside today with the enhancements it's received. Just a shame there wasn't an upgrade of the second entry in the series which I'm working on, which feels more in line with what I'm used to from earlier DOS games. Main thing I miss from Broken Sword1 Director's Cut was the game highlighting objects of interest whenever the mouse is near, so I don't have to pixel-hunt like I currently am doing in #2 which is offputting.
Also decided that I'll finally beat the fucking Myst series (1-4)......eventually. Got the DVDs out (fuck the multi-CD copies of Riven/Exile sitting in my closet), started some of Myst 1, and then turned it off when I realized I wasn't in the mood to read books for 15min to get a better bearing of what the island does. Another night perhaps. Damn series can be a bitch to get running on a modern OS. I wish Cyan would release versions of at least Myst 1 & Riven that does away with the Quicktime requirement. QT is horrible for backwards compatibility.
I definitely do from time to time, and I actually kind of hate that i do =P I have a few games that aren't even THAT old that I just have trouble playing through again. Games like Shadow of the Colossus and Okami, both games that I absolutely loved and will always have in my top games of all time. That said, the handful of times I have gone back to play through them again... I just get hung up on the graphics. It sucks.
I feel like I am letting my gaming history down =P I grew up on FF (first REAL gaming timesink was with my NES and FF) and graphics was never what it was about back then (though I remember being blown away by Final Fantasy III (VI) at the time. I am an old jaded gamer...
Depends on the game. Some games are better left not touching again as they have aged horribly in some manner (that was otherwise fine for its time, especially for early 3D games), and some still play/look just as well as they did on release.
Granted, games I 'cant' play are raycasted ones. They make me nauseous after 15min or so of play, have yet to find a solution to it as I wanted to replay the Doom series. -.-
It happens to me a lot actually, usually with PS1/PS2 era stuff and in general it's not even the graphics but the UI and interface/menus. Some are so sluggish and cumbersome that it can ruin the experience entirely. Luckily I can't think of anything I've really, really liked that has either crossed that bridge well or been remedied with frame-skipping in emulators.
Been playing NUNS2 past 2 days, having alot of fun with it. Shit is actually more fun than I thought. Sasori is fucking OP/Broken online... I've yet to win against a good Sasori user... I'm getting used to handling Awakening Rasengan Minato users now, but they still catch me time to time, then there's Itachi Awakening I really hate too. Gonna try to finish story mode today so I can unlock the rest of the characters and get few more useful supports/mains.
I tried to play NFS: Hot Pursuit yesterday, but found out I gotta pay 10 bucks for a Online Pass just to play it online, since I rented it... pretty much lost interest in playing it nowWill probably still do Career Mode for a bit, but not gonna bother finishing it. I was gonna rush through Career Mode, then start playing online with few friends. I can't believe they didn't tell me this shit before I got it though. Might just return it now for GoW3 since it's pretty short, and I assume it's not that long to Plat either.
