playing through the Penumbra series, this is pretty good although it's not particularly scary. Almost done with Black Plague, then going to run through Requiem. Then on to Amnesia: Dark Descent, is it a lot better than the Penumbra games?

Also has anyone played this side scrolling PC indie action-rpg called Aztaka? It looked really interesting so I bought it but I kinda makes me want to actually beat Aquaria while I'm on my pc gaming kick

also been playing a bit of Untold Legends 1 for psp. Great game, but holy fuck this is way too long. It's like... a 50 hour game haha

finally picked up god of war collection + 3, almost through the first one now, pretty cool shit

definitely much better done than ninja gaiden imo, or anything else I've played of that style on ps3

Finishing up FFIV: DS. My word I don't remember the final dungeon being this hard even on the ps1 version of IV. I am not a huge fan of grinding but I think I'm going to have to if I want to push to beat the final boss (currently level 67-69 for my party).

God I'm horrible with regards to my backlog, especially after just getting Dante's Inferno a few days ago.

Went to pick up my Killzone 3 pre-order code from EB yesterday, and ended up coming out with a copy of Enslaved for $19 also. Only a couple hours in, but I'm loving it so far. Combat is a bit on the simple side, but the locations, visuals, and character banter more than make up for it for me.

So I've been playing Valkyria Chronicles for the first time as I said a page or so ago. Still playing it, like non-stop. I'm on chapter 11 already. Had I know it was going to be this good, I'd have just bought it back then instead of waiting so long and getting it from Gamefly and ripping it on my PS3. It's probably one of my favorite RPG's of the next gen consoles. Not that there are many. I love the whole cast of characters, the design, story, battle system, everything.

I just can't play the DLC because I have the jailbroken PS3 and can't go on the PSN store to buy it, otherwise I would in a heartbeat. When I eventually update my firmware, I'll probably buy the game new and get the DLC.

Also; Is Valk Chronicles 2 for PSP any good? It's kind of a letdown it's handheld, but if it's as good, I have no qualms.

It's good. It is quite a bit easier though, sadly. Still though, very worth playing if you have the opportunity to do so.

Best tip I can give you is when you get access to FSC, put the chance to heal one on Luke's coil and use coil often. Eventually using coil will always heal you while upping crit rate at the same time. That will be great for many things including tackling the arena. Every character has a tech that can heal utilizing FSC cept maybe Guy, I think, but he already has a skill that heals him normally so he doesn't need that.
Aside from that, I'd say it's best just to do things how you feel.

EDIT: Oh, and one more thing... also about FSC, all of the melee guys can create their own FOFs later on but it requires chambers you can't get til way later in the game so I wouldn't worry too much about that just yet. Either way, doing so is best utilized with Guy in my opinion. Spamming Dragon Tempest every .2 seconds is a way to make quick work of most everything.

I don't know if it's just me but the entire game seems to be a lot harder than the PS1/GBA versions.

As for me I've been getting back into TF2, new PC really helped me not suck with Sniper. I haven't tried Magicka again since my HDD format but that's on my to do list for later this week.

finished Amnesia: The Dark Descent, fantastic game. It's amazing how much better the game looks than Penumbra, you can see the influences it had on Amnesia though. Really can't wait to see what else Frictional puts out next.

Now playing through Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth since I never got a chance to on xbox/pc. This is pretty good too, although playing Amnesia makes me miss having shit to throw around and interact with.

not really sure what I'll play next. I really need to finish Aquaria at some point, but I doubt I'll have time before all the good stuff comes out next week (BG&E HD, DS2 DLC, and then Dragon Age 2 the following week).

I seem to remember a few other Xbox games that had pc releases, anyone ever play Still Life or Curse: The Eye of Isis?

I restarted Dark Corners of the Earth like 2 or 3 times, but always lost interest around the same spot :< I really need to change that someday...

I'd recommend Still Life. A solid adventure game if you like point'n'click games.

Isn't Still Life the sequel to a game called Postmortem? Ever play either that or Still Life 2? I remember seeing the Curse: Eye of Isis box at gamestop SOOOOO many times when I was working there, although I seem to remember reading it's not that great lol

What did you think of Penumbra Black Plague/Requiem?

Played both Still Life and Still Life 2 but not Post Mortem. I enjoyed the first a little more but both are good games (I remember having some small quirks about the second one, but can't really remember what they were anymore).

i thought Penumbra Overture was great but ended too abruptly, and I thought Black Plague was good but not really as satisfying as I'd hoped, but overall the two games work pretty well together. Overture got really easy once your realized you could just hop on a crate and kill all the dogs that were bothering you, so some of the stealth sections required by Black Plague's removal of combat were pretty intense, so I guess you could say I felt like the gameplay was improved/edited/refined quite a bit for Black Plague (and even further for Amnesia).

I haven't gotten all the way through Requiem, it seems to have no story whatsoever, it seems like it's just a collection of rooms with very little story linking them together.

edit: if your question was whether or not to buy Penumbra Black Plague/Requiem since like most people you already own Overture (and only Overture) from the Humble Indie Bundle, I would say Black Plague is worth playing through but I have a tough time recommending Requiem, but maybe if someone's actually beaten it they could say otherwise.

Nah, I already own them all, just very slowly plodding through them one by one as I hardly use my PC for gaming nowadays.
    (especially when I keep finding decent PS3 games for $19 >.> )

I didn't even bother with the dogs in Overture, you could easily out run them, which is all I did. Combat was horrible in Overture, so if Black Plague has more of those moments like blocking spider tunnels from the first, I'll enjoy that more.

yea Black Plague has no weapons to speak of, so it's a lot of stealth (like in Amnesia) or running while you try to block your path. Overall it feels like the motions are better in Black Plague than Overture, there's no tools/weapons you have to swing like the abysmal hammer and turning things like cranks/switches is significantly easier. Still, Amnesia is a big step up over both games, it really is great.

Anyone here have any experience with gamefly? There are a lot of games that I'm interested in giving a whirl but I can't justify constantly plunking down money on new games (saving up for wedding e.e ). Rate seems reasonable enough, especially if I unregistered from FFXI and put that monthly fee towards gamefly.
