decided to restart demon's souls from the beginning since I didn't level up at the start (due to not being told how), and ended up losing all my souls. I made it through 1-1 only dying once and that was due to stupidity.(attempting to fight 2 spear guys in a very narrow hallway)

Are there stats I should really push in this game? I started off as Wanderer and did 2hp, 3str and 4 or so in dex so far.
and do "Unknown Soldier's/Hero's Soul" do anything else, or are they just for gaining more souls?


Why do they bother to give you full life at all? Unless you've played a level through several times, there's no way you're not going to die relatively quickly.

Just got my AT3 Plat, definitely took longer than expected, but glad to get it out of the way. Damn game has shitload of trophies too... Should be getting DW7 today, so will be starting that up later on or tomorrow.

it's amazing how many of us have missed so many games due to our ffxi obsession. i still haven't caught up with all the games i've wanted to play and i quit about a year ago.
currently playing hyperdimension neptunia - it's actually a lot of fun, although it seems to be fairly unpopular. amazon's not even stocking it anymore, and it only came out about a month ago!

tobi, how is ATQ3? i'm playing that one next, i think.

Story is decent, Music is pretty good as well, though could be better. Gameplay wise, it's definitely not that great, but I wouldn't call it completely terrible either. For some reason, I never got tired of bored of the battles, even though it becomes very repetitive quick, I guess. Run around, only attack on Red Beats, make your lolis half naked, kill group of mobs, and repeat for every battle for the rest of the game. I guess the different music in battles is what kept it a bit more interesting for me /shrugs

Game has a lot of fan service/sexual innuendo, and couple of suggestive scenes as well(Pulling crystals out of female's Vaginas). Just don't expect the gameplay to be great!

I was hesitant to pick up Pokemon Black because I ditched Platinum (didn't play D/P) because it just felt like more of the same. However....

Only have 1 badge so far but I am really enjoying my 99.9% blind playthrough of Pokemon Black. Usually when I play a Pokemon game nowadays I build a team and check what pokemon the gym leaders, rival, and elite four have before I even turn the game on. This time the only thing I looked up is where to get the running shoes and the bike to make sure I didn't miss them. I feel like I'm back in the old days of G/S (I looked up stuff for R/B) because I don't know which pokemon evolve or what moves they know until I see it ingame.

By the way, thanks Gamefreak. You decided that no old pokemon could be used until the end of the game (I think?) but you still managed to sneak in a surprise Zubat in the first cave in the form of a Woobat. Zoobat, Woobat, very subtle. I swear when I first saw that thing I saw it as a troll face with wings. Buuuuuut it seems decent enough and I put it on my team so.... you're forgiven.

What was your starting job? Honestly, Demon's Souls isn't that hard lol I personally went temple knight on my first playthrough and breezed through most of it with a halberd. Hell, if you're in the level 20-40 range I can help you with my second character.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but you only wanna take most stats to around 40. After that, their bonuses aren't really worth it, unless you have nothing else to put your souls towards. As for what to level first. It depends. If you die a lot, do HP. If you feel you need more damage, then Strength/Dex/Magic(depends on the weapon really, but most use those stats.) Yeah, those Hero souls and shit are just for gaining souls. DO NOT use boss souls, though. They're used for Spells and upgrading certain weapons.

For that boss, trying standing behind one of those pillar-type things/bumps in the wall(it's been awhile since I've played, so I don't remember what they are) in the tunnel and shoot him with arrows or magic. Make sure you have like 100-200 arrows for that. If done right, the boss will barely hit you 'cause all of it's fireballs will hit the pillars instead.

Edit:I'd say Knight(or whichever one that starts with a good balance in str/dex) and Thief are pretty good. Those are the two I used when I started and did fine.

I rolled Wanderer as well. It's a bloody horrible class to start with if you have zero experience with the game due to lack of decent starting equipment.

Yeah. Demon's Souls does that to you. Even with all the death, it was addicting.

I bought 3D Dot Games Heroes recently. Haven't started it yet, but I will as soon as I finish Yiazmat on FFXII(first time fighting him.) Hopefully it's a good game.

Also, I finally ordered an AR MAX EVO for the PS2 Free McBoot exploit. Anybody know of a good place to download JP games? Mainly care about Tales of Destiny DC/2/Symphonia at the moment.

Haha Souj has the Demon's Souls itch. It gets under your skin man... it does. I agree with the others that have said Wanderer is a harder class to start with. I picked one at first just because I liked the way their starting armor looked compared to the other classes. Thing is, they are quite weak and have quite low defense compared to the other choices.

I am not saying you cannot be one, or start with one, just that their low def and attack mean you are going to need to learn to love dodging and parrying a lot to survive early on. They also have no ranged ability to start with. I would say either stick it out and get them built up a bit (check the wiki here for builds, info, etc.) or choose a more new player friendly starting class.

Ehhhhh back when I started the frustration wasn't TOO high until you die to a boss. I dont range, I just get a "wtf were developers thinking" feeling until I realize what to do and kill it.
My gf used to watch me play it, and she too didn't get far from the tutorial. Probably because you still play the game a very specific way despite having "classes" to choose from in the beginning. Hopefully Dark Souls solves this problem.

I don't think I have ever been 'yelling at the tv' frustrated by the game. There are a few things that upset me enough that I recall them. One was my first time through the CREEPY AS SHIT 3-1 Tower of OMGwhatisthatsouuuund. I was creeping through the level so slow, more than 3/4s of the way through when I see a Gecko and all normal brain functions take a nap. It hears me and starts running away so I run after it... never realizing there was a gap in the floor between it and myself and went plummeting to my death. Yay, do over =(

Second time was when I went down to Ed the Blacksmith to upgrade a weapon or two and found out that he has apparently taken a permanent vacation (known glitch) and I wouldn't be seeing him until NG+ with at least 2 whole worlds to go and then some.

Overall though, the game is just too fun to get super pissed at, if you give it a chance. You just cannot hack and slash your way through it. It is a very inch by inch paced game. I really cannot wait to see what the fck they throw at us with Dark Souls.

The geckos were probably the best part about Demons Souls, as not a single person ever goes through the game without having a story to tell about them.

Best laugh I got from geckos was when I was being a blue phantom for someone (farming BPs for character tendency), and I shoot a gecko along the way (I split up from the main guy for a bit), run over to see if I can pick up its loot as a blue phantom........and accidentally kicked its ragdoll body off the cliff. Sorry to whoever's game that was!

I've already died because of one of those things and I've only done 2 levels... In 2-1, I see it and run after it, turn the corner and theres 6+ enemies just waiting for me, with 2 of them throwing huge-ass rocks at me.
Time slowed down as I yelled Ohhhhhh Fuck. and then die.


And yeah, I'm probably going to start all over again with a new class. I haven't gotten too far. I just picked Wanderer because of how it looked lol.

Your best bet is probably to start as a Royal, they have the best starting gear/abilities.

If I leave a level to go to the nexus before beating it, will all my progress stay when I go back? Like when I get half way through a level and hit a lever that starts up an elevator and makes me a shortcut.
When I come back will the elevator still be going, or will I have to go and press it again?

Everything stays the way you left it. All the large levels have a shortcut that you open about 1/3 and 2/3 of the way in so that you can leave and come back to finish it.
