it's amazing, but in a "so bad it's amazing" kind of way. It's kinda an open-world RPG survival horror game, with upgrades to your bag/weapons and shit to collect and quests to do. The story is ridiculous and so is the dialogue, in a way that makes you feel like it's all tongue-in-cheek/intentional so it comes off as being funny.

I definitely feel like it's one of the cult hits of this console generation, but I can also see how someone might go into it expecting something else and feel like it's the biggest piece of shit ever, lol

The latter is kind of how I felt about it Atreides... but not because I expected it to be something it wasn't. I just really did NOT see anything about it that warranted even 5 minutes of my time. That said, the only reason I played it at all is because my friend let me borrow it and he absolutely loved it. He accepted it for the majorly flawed Twin Peaks wannabe car wreck that it was and had a blast with it. He finished it and was very happy with the game. Finishing it, in itself, is a feat. Once you get behind the wheel and drive somewhere you will see why.

Either way, love it or hate it, I love that it is out there... the shit stained gem that it is.

How many resources are in the game to get, and is the trophy retroactive? Only trophy I need, but I have to play the whole game over again cause I missed like 4-5 from act1/2

Pretty sure there's only 66 or 67 resources in there. At the end of each chapter, the Black Emporium will have stuff you missed. Problem was, pre-patch if there were 3 elfroots in the BE then it just counted as one, so you could be 66/66 but it wouldn't count because the game would treat it as 64/66. I got fucked because they don't have the one time ingredients there and Isabella wasn't loyal so I missed out on the Ambrosia.

I'm working on a Mage Hunter playthrough as a mage right now and feel like kicking my own ass sometimes. lol

Picked up Red Steel 2 since I got it for $14. Mainly purchased it so I had a second WiiMotion+ adapter for whenever the fuck something worthwhile comes out that's multiplayer that uses it.

Played some Wii Sports Resort with my sister (hadn't touched Red Steel yet), and man, that game is BASIC compared to Sports Champions on the PS3. So much handholding and assistance, hardly feels like anything more than waggle + 1:1. Tried playing frisbee, and even my gentle throws went off at maximum power.

I guess it has to be accessible or something? I find I'm fucking up more than I should because I'm trying to use RL strength to reflect into the game, but it seems to be ignoring that. That or I'm just too used to Sports Champions reflecting my actions much better.


Speaking of Sports Champions, I need to finish re-arranging my room so I can play that again. Go not space to move in here after I got my new desk set up. Gladiator game in it was fun.

Still playing DFO on and off and really pretty pumped about the new expansion coming out on the 28th. Realized my character build was FUBAR so decided to break down and get a stat reset. Ancient Memory+Robotics is so broken, I can spam robots and grenades like a boss for ~4k damage a pop.

Also, been writing a fanfic for Mega Man and got inspired to play MM 1-10 again. People bitch about how hard 9 and 10 are, but holy hell 1 and 2 can cause ulcers. It really puts a perspective on how spoiled we are as gamers. You collected 500 trophies? Try beating the Boobeam trap on one life, or Quick Man with only a mega buster and no sliding or charged shots. (Holy shit!)

Started playing Burnout Paradise since it's free on EU PSN+ and it sure feels good to play Burnout again, been awhile since I've last played. Aside from Burnout Paradise, been playing Alice: Madness Returns as well, these 2 will keep me busy till DWG3 releases.

TESIV Oblivion with ultra-everything graphics, cel-shading, godrays (sunlight effect), and Crysis depth-of-field, plus unique landscapes and xeosp characters, oh my god. add in Oblivion XP (experience points-based leveling) and I am in love all over again.

wish I could take screenshots, should have installed outside of the Program Files directory. gonna have to get fraps just to show this shit off.

oh and the surprisingly detailed nude bodies don't hurt. didn't know they came with xeosp but I like 'em.

How did you like the new direction they took Paradise in? It almost looks like the team from Madden got ahold of Paradise and tried to make it as surrealistic as possible. The whole sand box issue really pissed me off and being forced into analog steering caused me to rage quit. Music was cash tho...

I did. I meant to get that next from Gamefly but effed up my chances by returning Killzone 3 too late. I will still get it, but chances of seeing it in any kind of timely manner died when I didn't have a game waiting to ship already. =( I have been following it for the last few months, watching new footage on it and it still intrigues me. Not sure if I will love it or not but it looks like a must play for me at least.

it's been getting some good reviews, I just hear it's pretty short (like 5-6 hours). You have to beat it 3 times to get all the difficulty achievements, so there's that too

That is my favorite game on my console (PS3) and the expansion island is a lot of fun as well. The bundle is a DL on PSN for $30 but I would highly suggest not dl the car unlock dlc because earning them is half the fun.

I just returned Alice to gamefly without finishing it. Great art/world but a little buggy and repetitive imo.

I was going to cancel my GF sub and noticed they sent me shadows of the damned today, so that will be next.

Also, borrowed a 360 with reach and dead rising. First off, I'm a little mad that the thing won't let me use an hdmi for video and then separate audio to plug directly into a stereo because the ports on the back of the machine only allow one output plug to fit... Second Neither of the games are very good. Dead Rising just isn't for me, but I liked the first two Halo a lot and played 3 as well but Reach has an awful Multiplayer all the time interface and they don't allow dual wield anymore ; ;

They make an adapter, which was included in the official HDMI kit (well the MS version was). Maybe excusable on the older models, since they kinda grafted the HDMI port on - but I think the Slim has the same problem :/

Either way, nothing a few bucks won't fix, though if you're only borrowing the system it may not be worth it.

I'm really not being a fanboi here as I don't do a lot of console gaming to begin with but, the 360 is inferior to begin with graphics and dvd games ( I am amazed at how plain environments are in Reach at times, especially the city), forget about having to pay for online, the main appeal to the thing is that it's cheaper than a ps3. Having to buy add-ons for the simplest stuff, rrod rates and bring back that paying a sub for online, I don't see why anyone but Halo/Gears fans would keep buying 360s. Sure, you start out $100 cheaper with no HDD (4gb) but you give up a BR player, a HD capable of holding dozens of demos and games and free online.
