You really are being a "fanboi" here.
You really are being a "fanboi" here.
Well, like I said, I can understand it on the original systems as the 360 was revised to include HDMI and so on. MS did include the adapter in their own packaging - I assumed it was just included with the system at first as my Elite came with one.
Each system has pros and cons. None of them are consistently impressive anyway, compared to PC games, but the hardware is 5-6 years old at this point. Most anything that actually looks particularly good does so due to smart/artistic design rather than technical muscle. Even with that said, the 360 often gets the better port, even if only marginally.
Either way, I don't really see the point of fussing over it. It's a simple problem with a cheap fix. It's not like it's rare, and worth more than the console, like Gamecube component cables or something.
Man seeing Clock Tower games mentioned brings back good memories! 3 was kind of wack but I still played few and enjoyed it overall. When it comes to japanese horror games though, gotta play the fatal frame series, those games are really fucking awesome.
A classic game to me that alot of people probably never played even though it had 2 sequels was the Deception series. I am about to revist this series myself.

Awesome series where you had to use traps to kill enemies. Anyone that has never played them and looking for something different should check it out.
I remember playing this on the old Official Playstation Magazine demo discs! It was actually really fun, yet another game I'll want to revisit and hoping it won't be all nostalgia. Hadn't heard of Trapt either, looking into that too.
As for games, playing ridge racer 7 and valkyria chronicles atm. P. much vidya nirvana.
sooo... the consensus is that I need to play clock tower on the snes/psx? Isn't the clock tower on the SNES JP only?
Also I've seen the box for trapt so many times, guess I'll have to check it out
nope, there are no guides that I am aware of. not for big overhauls anyway. luckily there are some mods out there that are big overhauls in and of themselves, so I guess it works out. the main things to know are:
- Oblivion Mod Manager is a program that helps make sure your mods all work together. Wrye Bash is another program that comes in handy if you are using multiple mods that alter leveled lists (things you find in chests, mostly). I have used OMM and it's easy to figure out (and some mods come specifically in OMM file format). I have never used Wrye Bash but I hear it's helpful.
- You will want OBSE (oblivion script extender) and OBGE (oblivion graphics extender). I have no idea what OBSE does but it's necessary for a lot of mods, including OBGE. OBGE is fucking awesome and is what makes my game look like a cel-shaded paradise.
- There are a couple of mods that make massive changes all at once and don't really work together, so it's probably best to pick one of those and then add on whatever you want afterward. For more info, check out: http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php...oblivion-mods/, specifically the "The best big overhaul?" thread. Some remain more faithful to the original Oblivion while making the game more challenging, and some just say "fuck it" and change everything under the sun while adding loads of new resources.
- DO NOT INSTALL OBLIVION TO THE DEFAULT DIRECTORY. Having to give out administrator permission constantly can create problems that range from slightly annoying to completely game-breaking. My game is in the default directory, and it works, but it's a pain. Something like C:/Oblivion would make things simpler.
For the record, I am using:
- OOO (Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul). I like it. Makes the game more challenging but also more fun. From what I understand though, it's the most basic of the major overhaul mods.
- Unique Landscapes Compilation. Looooove it. 100% recommended. Completely changes landscapes around Cyrodiil and gives each geographic area its own flavor.
- Xeosp. Changes characters and makes them more JRPG-like. Obviously a matter of taste, but if you like the style, the models are very good. I would have believed they were professionally done if someone told me.
- Supreme Magicka. Makes magic more useful. Really fun. Adds shit like levitation, teleporting, and a ton of other new spell effects.
- Oblivion XP. MUST GET. You level up with XP instead of by using skills, and you choose which stats and skills to upgrade each time you level up.
and probably some other stuff I can't think of but it's time for lunch! feel free to PM me with any questions![]()
Yuri-G you make me want to play it now :D
Got Hunted: The Demon's Forge, loving it but I can see why no one bought it lol
Thanks, I'll give it a try![]()
Finished Megaman 1-8 so far. 7 was kind of a bitch because it kept freezing up my Ps2 in the middle of boss fights. One thing that really pissed me off is they took out the epic walk in the ending credits:
I think it had something to do with Nintendo not wanting to release their Mode7 encoding. Anyway, working on 9 right now and it seems easier since I recently went through 1-3. Kind of on the ropes if I'm going to work on the X or legends series, I have an iso for both, and the bios, but can't find that damn psx emulator that had all these badass filters.
Talking about the custom shaders? http://www.racketboy.com/retro/sony/...-settings.html
That's the one! Just couldn't remember if it was for espsxe or not. Time to go play Megaman legends and pretend it's on Dreamcast...
Whoa those custom shaders work a lot better than I thought they would. Can I use the disc versions of PS1 games with an emulator or do I have to download the games in ROM form?
Thinking of picking up Persona 1 on the PSN, is it worth getting? I've played Devil Survivor and Strange Journey on the DS (loved them) but I haven't played many other Atlus games.
Finished up my Platinum in Dragon Age 2
Rented Duke Nukem... even my wife made a comment about how horrible the game looked.
Got Tiger Woods 12 from Gamefly. Loving the career mode on it. Tried Game Face and it turned out ok except it made me a black guy. lol
still playing Deadly Premonition, this game really gets a lot better once you do the quest to get a Radio (lets you warp around the map) and start upgrading your car and finding infinite weapons. The game is really bizarre, and just gets weirder as you play on. Still, I'm really enjoying it now.
Oh and Terraria. Always Terraria.
I reiterate, you are a crack addict. just saying.
of course I'm no better. can't tell you how many hours I've spent modding Oblivion. it's not even about the game anymore. it's about putting all these pieces together and making them work. once I finally get the game running perfectly I'll probably ditch it, lol
not that I want to scare anyone away from modding Oblivion. I'm attempting shit that is far more complicated than "add some cool new graphics and quests and spells." the basic stuff, and even the intermediate stuff, is really easy.
Im afraid to get sucked into Terraria again. Did all I wanted before the update and saw the number of hours I put into it... so staying away for a bit :D
With the free time, got my 2nd platinum on PS3 from Bioshock. Wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be, hardest part is the first area. Not really sure what my next project will be. Got inFamous 2 off a gameshare, so probably that. Also got Beyond Good and Evil HD since it was released on PSN from my main gameshare group, tempted to give it a try first though... hate choices!
as much as I love Terraria, you really should sit and play Beyond Good & Evil now that you've bought it, especially if you've never played. Story, score, variety of content, graphics, style, the game is really top notch... probably one of the most criminally underrated games of all time.
You can probably get through the whole thing in a good 6-8 hours collecting everything, so it's not that long.
Beat Mega Man 9 and 10. If I see another yoku block, I'll probably rage the fuck out. Going to play Legends and Legends 2 before starting the X series.
Big Dungeon Fighter update hits tomorrow, so I'm going to be all over that too. I think they found a way to stop controller emulation, but hoping they just decided to add their own controller option. If not, that's a bitch move after all this time. Not like people were getting an unfair advantage or anything. (at least I hope not)
