The two highest Charm checks require 9 and 10 points respectively and are both pretty far into the main story. You also get 2 free points in it so you don't have to build much. I mostly ignored Intimidate on my first playthrough. If you're the only Engineer on your main squad, then you want to work on Decryption as well, since it will allow you to open locked containers. It's mostly only useful early on though since you'll have enough omni-gel to power through most anything at the end of the game. Engineer/Ashley/Liara is a pretty well balanced squad for a first run through of the game. In fact, you get achievements for having the same party members for most of the game. Ashley is pretty easy to unlock the achievement for since you get her so early. Liara can be tough if you do too much before you recruit her.

thanks, I'll probably stick with Engineer then - though I'm gonna start over and stick with just Charm. I was only an hour in anyway.

Got my roommate Portal 2 for her birthday, had fun watching her play so decided to play Portal. Game was over quickly, but was different and a lot of fun. Also still playing Skies of Arcadia Legends. Finally got the rep to fight Vize. Pretty tough fight but got them down after 3 tries. Playing Resident Evil 4 right now so I can finally beat it and clear it from my backlog.

I just beat the Sly cooper collection, and tonight gonna attempt to get through dead space 2.

Then either new vegas, or bioshock 2

Decided to play Assassin's Creed, since the new one coming out looks pretty good. Hopefully second one is better because the first one is pretty repetitive. Up to my sixth assassination and it's pretty much been the same thing over and over again.

Got BIT.TRIP Runner on the Steam sale. Is a pretty fun game, but pixel graphics + moving at a high speed = blurry on my monitor.

Still need to play though BioShock II/Borderlands. Had those forever and haven't played them that much. I got a ton of games I never finished I should.

Tried the Magic the Gathering game thats free with PS+ after a friend taught me to play. Really liked it, so bought Magic 2012 (also bought a starter deck to play the actual game). Wish the promo card that comes free with the PSN version of 2012 was the black card, since I'm trying to build a black deck. If anyone out there isn't going to use their XBL promo code (which is the one that gives the black card), I'd appreciate letting me get it :D

Playing Arc Rise Fantasia right now and loving it. The voice acting is... hit or miss. I can't say it's lack of emotion or effort so much as... they just feel off, awkwardly paced, and like they don't fit the characters in some cases.

And after watching some clips online, I'm saddened the skits aren't voiced.

It's a real shame; if it weren't for a shoddy localization, I'd put this game up in my favorites list with Tales of the Abyss and Persona 4. Might look into an undub of it.

Beat Megaman Legends, and beat it again on hard mode for the hell of it. Still trying to find a Misadventures of Tron Bonne torrent that's still alive. Never got a chance to play it, but keep hearing how great it is.

Finally put some time in for Dungeon Fighter after the update. Looks like the Auction House is FUBAR since thousands of players bought stuff, but never got the item after the money was spent. Supposedly they're working on that tonight, but I doubt it. Anyway, the new dungeon is great, the setting kind of reminds me of Wild Arms. Haven't seen any high level Thieves quite yet outside of obvious GMs in the arena. Got my ass kicked a few times using the same old tricks against the new improved priests and decided to read a list of everything updated. Mechanics are pretty much unchanged, Slayers are butthurt about bleed damage being nerfed, Priests got a lot of priority on their attacks and less likely to get stun locked and seems like everyone else just got recast times and MP costs tweaked. I'll probably be spending most of my time in the arena since I need the points for my next class advancement. Not looking forward to it since Mechanics usually get booted because people still think they're OP. I'll post some matches after I get some practice in.

Got off my ass and finally started playing through DQ6 and so far the game has been a lot of fun. I really wish they would port these damn things to console too though.

You definitely want to start all 3 of those with the first game. I'd recommend starting with Mass Effect if you're at all a sci-fi fan, as the game world is probably the most interesting of the 3. It kinda reminds me of star trek in the way that they fully flesh out the game universe, complete with a narrated encyclopedia. If you're into nerdy stuff you're really in for a treat with ME.

As for what I'm currently playing:
1) Deadly Premonition - almost done with this, got all infinite weapons except the RPG and collected all the cars, just have 2 or 3 quests left.

2) Lego Harry Potter - done with the game, just sweeping through the last 3 episodes to collect all the gold bricks and characters. I need to find Lego Pirates of the Caribbean for cheap at some point...

3) Tiny Tower - if you have an iphone/ipad and you don't have this (it's free), shame on you. Soooo addictive...

4) Obscure (ps2) - Decent survival horror, although I seem to take a lot of damage and even on easy I don't have a lot of health potions.

Next up will be more survival horror, either Rule of Rose or Obscure 2. I also have Cold Fear which I hear is a lot like Resident Evil 4, so maybe I'll try that. I should really try to get through Dead Rising 2 at some point too...

I remember playing ME for like... 5 minutes, and not liking it, but I'm willing to give it another chance. Should I play it on xbax or pc? I see that 2 (and 3 when its out) are available on ps3, is there any reason to not play the ps3 version? (I usually prefer just using my ps3 when possible >_> although obviously not a choice for ME1)

Uncharted series, the second game is better done overall, but the first one is still solid. That said, if you really don't want to play the first one for some reason, the second doesn't exactly have a lot tying it to the first. Maybe a couple in-jokes. The stories are pretty much stand-alone, and the common characters aren't that complicated. Neither game spends much time on exposition anyway (ignoring that, technically, the first half of 2 is a flashback).

Assassin's Creed does have a plotline between all the games, but there's a big improvement between 1 & 2. Might want to read a plot summary for the first one if you don't play it - which in that case might be more understandable given that the first game is very repetitive.

Mass Effect you really should play from the start, unless you can't (PS3 onry for example). Some of the decisions made in the first game carry into the second and/or third. Play mechanics change a bit between 1 & 2, and presumably for 3 as well, so undoubtedly there will be aspects you prefer from one over the other, but both are good. Ideally, play the soon (but not soon enough) to be trilogy on the same platform. If you can't, the PS3 version does have a digital comic to catch you up on the first plot, and you can pick choices for the major plot decisions.

Regarding platform - the PC is preferable IMO. While the second and third games will be simultaneous releases, the first game was delayed for PC, and wound up with some refinements as a result (though some were also just for KB/mouse interface too).

All three of those franchises should be played from the first game all of the have improved with each entry. Uncharted is really good, Uncharted 2 is great. AC is like said before repetitive but you should play it to expierence Altiar's story, AC2 and Brotherhood are way better however. ME's universe is very involved and decision based and even though you didnt care for 1, 2 is a lot easier to get into and without carrying over a save with your decisions from one the default choices they provide for you suck.

I played MtG for 6 years, it'll never be as good as it used to be. I remember when the Urza set lasted for almost 4 years, tournaments actually turned profits, Phyrexian Negators were ~$7 and WotC cared about their customers more than making a few extra bucks. Not they crank out a new set every year forcing you to keep rebuying the same cards and half of them are just reprints or nerfed versions of what they used to be. And last I checked, the artwork took a pretty big hit too.
