Playing Last Remnant (PC) & Persona 3 FES (Fei undub remix via PCSX2). Because playing one RPG at a time is for pussies. And at least I can switch when either one gets boring.

    LR is surprisingly fun.

The secret of LR is to avoid nearly all non-boss battles and only grind intermittently on super hard enemies. There's a great leveling guide on Gamefaqs about it. I did 2 playthroughs on that, one where I just went through it without any guides, and the 2nd time was with the leveling guide. First playthrough was fairly challenging, especially at the end of the first disc, and the "bases". The 2nd was a breeze.

I played the demo and hated every goddamn second of it, I'm shocked to see you're enjoying it. Almost to the point of trying it out again as it's actually p. similar to Valkyria Chronicles, I thought, but good god the camera just made it feel absolutely unplayable.
Like I said, the camera is absolutely awful and it makes the game about 10x as hard just because you can't really tell what's going on where. But I'm a huge WWII buff so the fact that it's set in that time period and actually follows the historical time line is very cool to me. Basically think of it as a really really shitty version of Valkyria Chronicles. I will say that it's not going to be for everyone. If you aren't that interested in WWII you should probably pass this one up. The difficulty also increases drastically as you get further into the story. So that makes it even more irritating at times. If you're going to play it be prepared for some fuck you moments and you may or may not feel the urge to throw your controller.

Or maybe I'm just a masochist and enjoy playing shitacular games.

I think I've probably mentioned this game eight or nine times by now in various threads, but I have a feeling you'd really like Ring of Red for the PS2, too, if you haven't played. It's an tactical RPG in an alternate-timeline post-WW2 setting (plus mecha) that was the entire reason I was excited about VC after seeing the similarities. Hands down one of my all-time favorites. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring_of_Red

Playing Assassins Creed 2 and Torchlight. AC 2 is such an improvement over AC 1 really having fun with it. Torchlight was more of a spontaneous purchase which I am glad I made. Really liking how fast it threw me into everything. Was not hard to get into and has so much to do.

Already have it Cai. One of the few I believe. Most people have never heard of it. The one complaint I have about the story line in RoR is that they paint the Japanese as being blameless almost innocent bystanders pulled into the war.

Glad to hear and you're right, it seems like the fanbase is abysmally small. re: the story: I think I'll have to play it again (the horror) because I remember fuck all about a lot of the details.

played a bit more of Madness Returns today. reached the area where Eyepots first show up. enjoying it so far, though it certainly isn't perfect. the platforming isn't so bad - any time you fall into a pit you end up right where you jumped off from - but the combat gets frustrating. fighting two or three of those shield guys at once was a fucking bitch, and two eyepots + a shadow guy wasn't much better. still, story and presentation are top notch (though I hear there are graphical glitches later on). absolutely love the memories, I don't even care that they don't seem to do anything (do they?) because they're just that cool.

Picked up the recent Medal of Honor for PS3 for $10 the other day. So far I have yet to touch the game. Instead, I have been playing the MoH: Frontlines port that was included as a freebie. >.>

I rented Frontline way the fuck back in the day for my PS2. All I did was play the single-player for an hour. The rest of the rental period? Splitscreen deathmatch, and man was it glorious. It's a shame this port has the multiplayer stripped (probably was based off the PC version), but at least I'm able to finish the story. It's kind of comical how the game has aged. What I remembered as being a super-serious game back then (2002), comes off as clunky and simple with the way the AI move and animate. Gives me a little bit of Goldeneye vibe though with the way it looks/feels, particularly with the way you cycle through your weapons one at a time.

I'll have gotten my $10 worth just off of this port alone. If I end up enjoying the actual game on this disc, the more power to me.

Been playing MAG lately as I found it in the Target discount bin for 8$ the other week. Overall, it's a pretty decent game but lacks any kind of meaningful reward system. The medals/ribbon award collection is okay, but if they added tiny perks that came with earning medals/ribbons, it would be a more fun "grind." For instance if I got the Golden Cross medal for resuscitating 1,000 allies, a nice little reward would be resuscitation range +2m or something like that. Or, the AAA Demolition Medal for destroying 100 AAA batteries in my career would get me +5% armor buff around enemy AAA batteries.

The Platoon Leader role has almost zero function that I believe they need to fix somehow (All it does is call in Artillery Strikes), and a few more game types wouldn't hurt as well. Some other game type with 256 players would be a great addition. Some of the specs in the trees are absolutely worthless. The entire Vehicle tree needs to be completely redone.

For the price I got it, it is pretty worth the money. Put about 25 hours into it so far.

Vehicle spec really is useless unless all you do is play Interdiction 24/7......which actually may be viable now that Zipper made that DLC free for all.

Platoon leader is supposed to be the coordinator of attacks for your group, such as dictating order of bunkers in offensive maps, as well as giving heads up on artillery usage so people don't get blindly killed and are able to take advantage of the situation. Granted when I played MAG most platoon/OICs had mics since the game prioritized people with them, but I've not touched it in a few months so I don't know how it is currently.

Section 8: Prejudice on pc. Played the beta last year and enjoyed it more than the previous game. Picked it up(finally) during the summer sales on steam and it's still fun. I'm just glad there are bots online to fill in empty slots when there aren't many people on. SP is a generic story of a bald space marine doing bald space marine stuff.

It uses GFWL so eh but, it does have dedicated servers. Anyone play it on pc too?

Ok. Usually I only look up a guide if I'm stuck or so. I don't wanna be too OP. I'm not sure where I'm at right now on Disc 1, but a few of the battles seem to get harder now. Also, I still seem to fail those harder sidequests (like the dragon or that last stage in arena battle), even with my 3 units.

I also just figured out I needed to buy Relaxing Herbs otherwise none of my units could heal/revive with the herb skills. Apparently they use 2 herbs for every skill, one I got plenty of, and the other was the Relaxing Herb (ran out on those). I'm so noob.

But yea, game is not too bad. The way they did mining/harvesting is simple but fun. Gotta look up where to find Iron Ore though, because I can find Steel and lots of rare stuff, but not sure where to find simple Iron.

Some of the mobs remind me of FFXI orcs, got that Sandy starter area feel at some point.

I just started playing uncharted. I suck at shooting, but it's fun/entertaining so far.

edit: well, fuck, apparently I needed to update the game to unlock trophies, and my ps3 is pretty much never connected to the internet >_> and I will also have to restart, but I wasn't very far into the game anyway.

One question, these stupid random treasures, uh, should I just use a guide to find them? I mean, if they were actual graphics in game that I could notice and grab myself, I'd do that, but I missed like every single treasure up to the point I played because I didn't know they were "invisible go stand somewhere random and you'll get the triangle prompt" <_<

Got my 5th plat the other day with Dante's Inferno, now playing Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Just started chapter 4. Fun game so far, too bad the frame rate seems to settle around 30 fps most of the time

I got Red Faction Armageddon like a week ago and still haven't played it lol
and Venetica will be here in a day or two. Guess I should start playing my rented games more before DW Gundam 3 and Minecraft before I just start wasting a bunch of money
It's just so hard to play games I know are gonna be somewhat crappy. Put them on my GameQ when I had nothing else to play.

I've been playing Devil Summoner 2, but I can't get into it like I did the first. If I have to see the words "Theory" or "Conjecture" again I'm going to kill someone.

    In Theory.

Pondering stopping that and playing KH2. I'd hoped to finish my PS2 backlog by the end of the year..but eh.
