Trying to play uncharted, but it's starting to give me a headache/piss me off.
I really enjoyed the first few chapters when it was just story, adventure, and some shooting, but now it's nonstop shooting. I don't like shooting games, I'm bad at them, and I just don't like them, or find them enjoyable, or anything. Might be giving up on this game soon cause I just can't take itI'm in the fortress thingy place, and it's giving me a horrible headache.
(Does it get better, or like, at least lighten up a bit on the constant fighting? Like I said, some fighting here and there is fine, but when it's just nonstop constant, fuck that)
Nope, it doesn't ever get better. I hear the second game is a lot better at least(well, combat is better anyway, probably just as much of it), but I still haven't got around to playing it since 1 left me with a poor taste in my mouth. The story and character interactions were good enough to keep me playing til the end though, it's a fairly short game so might be worth sticking out if you're already far into it.
Speaking of something that seems to fall into the same category, I'm playing Knights Contract right now and enjoying the shit out of it. Reviews seemed to shit all over the game but I'm not seeing any of the complaints justified to the degree I've read if not completely disagreed. Combat gets really fun once the spells come into play and you get the hang of finishers and chaining finishers, plus the boss finishers turn into really awesome Bayonetta-esque over-the-top spells.
This is my favorite boss design in the game that I've found so far and if you wanna skip the battle, the finisher starts around @4:35
Oh yeah, I remember the previews for that game... the one where the whole game is an escort mission. Normally I hate escort missions but I assume since the ENTIRE FUCKING GAME revolves around that shit they'd make it less frustrating than normal. Other than thta I thought it looked cool.
Yeah I remember one review making a huge stink about that, and yeah, I mean the entire story is "you're an immortal dude, escort me places", but the witch isn't helpless nor is her dying really anymore commonplace than when your own character would normally be dying in a single character setting, yet you can pick her up and she'll regain life pretty quickly and then you're both back to battle. He really is immortal, but not to the extent of being broken, in that his body can suffer damage to the extent that he needs a little PRESS X TO LIVE which puts the witch at risk while you're recovering. That has usually been the time she'd die for me if I get caught in a bad spot with her already low on life.
The neat thing I've been reading is even when reviewers have hated the game, they finished it for the story which is also what kept me playing initially. Some great art I'm trying to track down that they use for story-telling in between chapters, too.
I think I'm like.. 25~33% through the game? idk. The constant fighting pisses me off, the first few chapters were so much fun
I'll probably try to stick it out, but it makes me sad that I probably wont be able to beat this game on the hardest difficulty for achievement whoring reasons, lol.
Been playing the Mother series, oh my gawd the music. D:
Currently playing Shadows of the Damned. I love Garcia & Johnson, the storybooks about the bosses are hilarious and I love the Evil Dead reference in the cabin. The gameplay is lacklustre overall though. Maybe I'm more disappointed because I went into it expecting Bayonetta / DMC style gameplay. :/
I recommend it though if you've enjoyed Suda 51 and Shinji Mikami's previous stuff. [7/10]
Beat Alice: MR recently too. Absolutely atrocious platforming and combat sections, they feel so clunky. The story is mildly entertaining but it's really not worth your time, there's nothing fun to this game at all.AVOID! [3/10]
Finished up Rule of Rose, god that game was fucked up. The combat took some getting used to but I'm really glad I played it, as it had one of the best story and soundtrack of any ps2 horror game I've played. Definitely recommend it for survival horror fans, if you can find it.
Also finished Cold Fear. Not too bad of a game, but it definitely feels like a much lesser cousin of RE4. My biggest gripe was that there was no map so finding your way around is a pain in the ass, but overall it's a solid action game.
Now I'm playing Haunting Ground. This game is actually pretty great, reminds me of Clock Tower 3 but with a much deeper combat/item system. I really don't care for the alchemy system, you basically need insane reflexes and perfect timing to stop these roulette-style spheres that are spinning way too fast. Supposedly you can craft all this gear that makes the game easier but I am not sure how anyone is supposed get that good at alchemy.
My first Resident Evil game was RE4 and I'm planning on playing the HD version when it releases this fall, but I'd like to finally get through RE0-3 beforehand, so my next game will probably be the Wii version of the REMake. Anyone have any tips for getting into the earlier RE games?
something fucked up my Oblivion and I'm not sure I have the heart to try and figure out what it was. so I might just leave it be and reinstall a ways down the road.
not sure what else to play. Mass Effect is the only new RPG I really have on my plate. I'm slogging through Alice: Madness Returns, but that's more of a slow and steady thing - I can only take so much of the repetitive gameplay in one sitting, though I do love the atmosphere.
can't think of any SNES games I'd want to play... except maybe Tactics Ogre. haven't played that in a while.
also considering a replay of FFIX, or maybe a low-level max-stat run of something or other... probably FFVIII, since it's one of the easiest games to do that sort of thing in
so yeah, tl;dr = I'm in a gaming rut. bored bored bored. I'm half tempted to buy a PSP + FFT, Tactics Ogre, and Dracula X... but I don't know that I want to drop $200 right now.
Playing hokey-pokey with my games again, not being able to sit down for one for a long period of time.
- Vanquish: Progressing through it at a steady pace, game has yet to fail to stop being crazy, really digging it. Definitely going to try and aim for the platinum.
- The Longest Journey: Started it the other day, put a couple hours in. Game either takes very long to set the story up, or it's failing to hold my interest. Going to give it a few more in the following week before deciding if I want to keep at it.
- Solatorobo: Game is cute, gameplay is alright although button-mashy. Setting kinda reminds me of MML2 with the focus on air transportation between locations and robotics. Higher production values than I was expecting also.
I've been waffling over doing that for awhile now. Going to be pathetic if I'm off just cracking open the world of PSP games after Vita is already out.
Beat Bowser's Inside Story the other night, good fucking god. Did I have to make up entirely new words to express some of the bullshit that game threw at me? I did. Am I still unsure if I ever enjoyed that game now? I am.
So I've been playing KH2FM+ on the side and just got to Olympus and found one of the organization shield/mirrors for one of the new bosses but when I hit "Yes examine it" or whatever nothing happens. Is there something wrong with the game or do I need to do something first before being able to fight them?
Edit: After I'm done with this I was thinking of playing BBS again, is there a translation patch for BBSFM+ yet?
I looked into it a while ago and it seemed complicated as far as what PSPs you could do it on and which ones you couldn't. mostly the older ones that were hard to find were the only ones that worked. do you know if things have gotten easier?
I won't lie, even something as simple as a SNES emulator on my PSP with Shin Megami Tensei I & II (translated by the wonderful Gideon Zhi) would be awesome.
I think all PSP models are hackable now on all but the very newest firmware, but I'm really not the person to go to about it. I'm still using years old CFW, lol. If you're really considering it I'm sure someone will be able to answer if you make a thread for it though, seems we have a thread about it every month lol.
