That's the only thing you remember, really?
Anyway, BoF4 is a pretty good game... the characters aren't nearly as memorable as those of 2 and 3 but it is still a solid game.

doodling Rei from the BoF3 manual was what got me into art as a kid, rent that shit
Oh, while on the subject of BoF3 did you guys know Chun-Li and Sakura from SF were in the crowd at the Contest of Champions? I am just finding this shit out, I cannot believe I never noticed that.
Currently playing: Final Fantasy IV - The Complete Collection (PSP). Once that's done I'm going to run through Final Fantasy 1 on PSP, and 2 from dawn of souls GBA on my android running emulation. After that, I'm going to play through FF IV Advance (does anyone know if this is different than the IV I'm playing on PSP? If not, I'm going to skip it). 2-6 really confuse the fuck out of me with the way they were released in japan in america. After that, V and VI advance are up (also emulation), then I'm going to give that new(er) Kingdom Hearts game for PSP a play through.
IV advance is terrible and FFIV Complete has all the same content only better. skipping it is a wise decision.
FFIV DS, on other hand, is its own beast and entirely worth playing through.
Question. Is IV Complete Collection the same as FF2 (either dawn of souls version or psp version?). The way they fucked with 2 and 4 really just mind fucks me. The way I understand it NA II is JP IV. So the IV thats out now is that a new IV of sorts (and then how close is this to the DS IV?). Is the II in dawn of souls the same as the original II on the snes?
FF2 Dawn of Souls is an upgraded port of the original FF2 release in Japan on the NES originally.
IV Complete/IV Advance are based on what was originally released as FF2 on the SNES Stateside with Cecil/Kain/etc. DS FF4 falls in this category also.
Basically, to make it easier to remember, the only iteration of FF4 that WAS called FF2 was only the one on the SNES Stateside, that's it. Every further port/re-release was properly named FF4.
My favourite of the bunch if FF4 Complete primarily because I can hit auto-battle and watch the game play itself through scrub fights, or time it as a tool to speed up the match since it runs 2x speed when engaged, making the ATB waits a moot point. FF4:AfterYears in the package was an ok bonus, more-so since they tamed down the insane encounter rates from its Wii inception, but it does feel derivative at points. I couldn't get into FF4 DS for some reason, it just felt sluggish to me.
All I remember in BoF3 music-wise was that bitchin' casio keyboard in half the tracks. Good listening stuff. Been so fucking long since I played BoF3 though, wouldn't mind it on PSN so I can start from scratch on my PS3.
Also good overworld music.
Not the music, the scene that music comes from... you really don't remember finallySpoiler: show
You must really not have been into the game at all, sheesh. That's gotta have been one of the most surprising moments in any video game I'd played up til that point.
hoo boy
FF2j (FF2 in Japan) was released on the Famicom, again on the PSX, again on the PSP, and is also the same FF2 that is in Dawn of Souls. I haven't played all of these so I can't speak as to which versions imitate each other and which ones are the best.
FFIV... where do I even start?
FFIV easy-type: released only in Japan for the Super Famicom
FFIV hard-type: same game but more difficult. also released only in Japan for the Super Famicom
FFII: this is what they called FFIV in America for the Super Nintendo. note that this was based on FFIV easy-type, only it was made EVEN EASIER because Squenix used to think we were a bunch of weak-willed pansies.
FFIV (FF Chronicles version): this was released for the PSX as part of, you guessed it, FF Chronicles. this released was based on FFIV hard-type, thankfully. it was also re-translated with a much better script. no bonus content.
FFIV Wonderswan Color: released only in Japan. don't know much about this one.
FFIV Advance: for the GBA, this was basically an emulated version of the wonderswan color edition, which led to some pretty awful glitches in combat. script was re-translated again. bonus content was added in the form of two extra dungeons and the ability to play as prior characters, Tellah notwithstanding. this version would rock if it weren't for the annoying combat glitches caused by lazy programming; still worth a playthrough if you must but not if you have a PSP because...
FFIV Complete: based on FFIV Advance, it has all the same content and none of the glitches, plus improved graphics, a yet-again-re-translated script (honestly not as good as FFIV DS though), and FFIV Interlude as well as FFIV The After Years as a huge bonus! probably the best version out there, though I have a soft spot in my heart for...
FFIV DS: completely different from the other versions, it had a huge graphical upgrade, retooled combat (much more difficult, yay!), a new augment system (boo!), a very weird new game+ system that only allowed three playthroughs and enabled stat-maxing through manipulation of the augments, more bonus content, basically this version rocks but is by far the furthest from the original. oh and it has the best translation by far... "I am the Drowned King, Cagnazzo!" <3
I may have gone a bit overboard there... lol. but FFIV is one of my favorites of all-time. so to sum things up:
best graphics: FFIV Complete or FFIV DS, depending on your tastes
best translation: FFIV DS easily wins this
most content: FFIV Complete, though FFIV DS gets honorable mention for new game+ and augments
best combat: FFIV DS imo... the challenge level really knocks things up a notch, and augments are awesome as long as you're not going for stat maxing (in which case they are annoying as shit)
best music: FFIV Complete's re-orchestrated soundtrack is excellent. FFIV DS isn't bad either, again taking second place
best overall: I'd say FFIV Complete or FFIV DS. FFIV DS has some major advantages in the translation and the battle system, but FFIV Complete has more bonus content and that whole After Years thing.
Wow ok, so that makes a lot more sense now. Probably going to save that post in a note for future reference lol. Thanks Kaisha and Yuri.
Started playing dfo alot again lately got sucked into the elenore grind which ended in success after a week not as bad as i was hearing been thinking about going back to ff11 or aion cant decide also getting the urge to play legend of legaia again
New DFO update is out, and had to reinstall to get rid of all my mods
There's a lot of content to go through, but at least there's more dungeons added so 58-60 isn't such a goddamned grind.
That new Black Rock Shooter game for the PSP came out, despite never having seen the OVA and hating the song it's based on/Vocaloid in general I decided to give it a shot. Really enjoying it but I wish it was a bit harder. Total joke so far and I haven't even touched items which instantly heal you...
This boss is the only thing that's put up a fight so far, hopefully the difficulty picks up as I get further. NIS America confirmed that they're bringing it over to the US/EU, definitely worth checking out once it does, battle system is fun at the very least.
Damn it, I meant to grab that today. So have you heard if it ramps up at all? What would you compare the game to? I wanted to watch the OVA but effing Icefilms right now. Sheesh.
I have no clue if it'll ramp up. I just curbstomped the second Apostle (that one in the video is the first one) in seconds... maybe it's just gonna get easier and not harder, lol. Although he did manage to kill me the first time, I tried out some new move I got and it left me completely vulnerable whilst he did his super attack... As for comparable games, I really can't think of any off the top of my head. Battle system is pretty damn unique, if there's anything out there like it I haven't played it!
Edit: LOL okay I tried to redo the fight to record it and well... I got murdered legitimately this time...
Double Edit: Ugh Imageepoch are handing out copyright strikes for videos of the game for some retarded reason, had to make videos private.
Playing some Front Mission Evolved. First impressions were that it handles like a bad Armored Core, complete with bad input lag making precision shots useless. Invisible walls everywhere too, hard to tell what I can get on or not.
At least it's able to maintain its framerate, which For Answer wasn't capable of doing at all on the PS3 port. Makes me hungry for Armored Core 5, or a new Heavy Gear. Can't enough of skiing around in a large mech blasting everything to pieces.
Oh wow, didn't expect that they would want to bring Black Rock here, nice.
mostly finished with Final Fantasy IX. 9999 Thievery, 9999 Dragon's Crest. almost feels like a letdown to go kill Ozma now.
on Chapter 2 of Tactics Ogre. I've always chosen Chaos or Neutral, so I went with Law this time. it's weird being called the "Butcher of Golyat" instead of the "Hero of Golyat." I don't like it
uhhh not playing much else for now. was stoned as fuck last night and bought a copy of RPG Maker XP for $30, so I guess I'd better make use of that...
anyone played Persona 3 PSP? thinking of picking that up
actually I just got a 4GB memory stick yesterday (on sale for $15 at Target!) so I might try out CFW tonight, so I don't really have a reason to go buy P3P. but part of me just wants to go in for some retail therapy and pick it up anyway
