Finished Resistance 3 which was pretty meh. I really enjoyed the first two installments but the third felt more like a chore to grind through for me. Moved on to Dark Souls. Already taking a break from Dark Souls. That game is so frustrating yet addicting at the same time. I am thinking about picking up either Batman Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition or Dragon Age Origins: Ultimate edition next. Going to use either game as a breather from Dark Souls sessions. Suggestions?

Oh man, this game. I can't even tell you how many hours I sunk into this shit with my younger brothers back when. It wasn't a particularly great game, and a handful of features and events and shit got completely butchered and cut in localization, but holy fuck. One of my favorite games from the PSX era, though admittedly I think it has more to do with personal memories than it being a particularly exceptional roguelike.

playing Demon's Souls and fucking shit I am having a good time, thanks to hey for suggesting temple knight and the tips along with it, finally dying less to the point of not hating the game and getting to progress. Wish there would've been a little instruction on getting started and how to get spells, but I'm not even mad, it's been a blast. Played through the first section of tower of latria last night, augh, paused multiple times just to say "fuck this stage is cool", but fuck the way the guards panic-scuttle, freaked me out every time.

Can't say I'm big on roguelikes but I loved Azure Dreams back in the day myself.

I bought TOD2 ages ago, but I'm sitting at about halfway through the game (where you first get Nanaly) because I was hoping a translation guide (or at least story synopsis) would materialize for the rest of the game.

Oh well, I'll get around to that after I finish my PS2 non-import backlog. I just finished Valkyria Chronicles (great fucking game), now I'm debating between picking back up Eternal Sonata (likely) Ar Tonelico 3 (ugh, disliking this game, but might as well finish it) or Devil Summoner 2. I'm at the halfway point in most except AT3, which I think I'm nearing the end of (just got the third Reyvateil) but fuck all, combat in that game is a snooze.

I just got Nanaly lastnight... I want to say that's nowhere near halfway through the game but this game is all one glorious blur to me. Managed to beat Sabnack and Ose on Hard mode lastnight without any items which is something I never managed to do on my first playthrough, so I am pleased so far. Fuck I love this game.

Remembered Souj documenting his Dark Souls adventure pretty well so I went back and read through, feeling the same about only really progressing past the bosses because I'm doing extremely cheap shit. Probably not enough to make me get honest and get down there with a sword and shield, but still feels bad.

Not sure if I'll NG+ yet or start with a new character entirely once I'm at the end, tried a thief and enjoyed the mobility but the heavy armor is too satisfying.

It's not halfway through? That's good then. I want to enjoy it, but eh. When I first played the game (this was back when it first came out) I was keeping up more with my Japanese studies so I could actually decipher a bit more, but.. yeah, time in grad school grinded that to a halt.

Are there any good story synopsis guides out there, at least for major plot points?

I've honestly never looked, I know the basic gist of the story and what's going on but I've never looked too much in to it... admittedly in it for the gameplay, not the story. All I use is the slot and enchant list on this. Don't really need to mess with slots too much if you're just playing on Normal/Second, but if you jump to the harder difficulties modes you really have to make good use of those and the refining system or you're gonna struggle a lot. Title lists are also handy with the way stats work in this, depending on what title you have equipped your stat growth changes a little on level up. It's super helpful to bolster Kyle's crappy hit rate, mages cast speed, etc.

Looking for advice on "what to play". There is no dedicated thread for this kind of question, and no random question or type of thread in this forum, so this feels like the best venue for now.

When home from class, not raiding on wow, I have a huge list of games to play that I don't touch and some I want to buy still that I haven't. So here are my choices, you pick what I play, and what I purchase. This is for PC only btw.

Metro 2033
Deadspace 1, 2.
Assassins Creed 2, or Brotherhood - Together will cost me 28$
Arkham Asylum - $11 (I'm interested in the new batman, so yeah)
The Witcher

Any thoughts?

edit: going to throw in zelda: tp for wii as well. Got like halfway through that and stopped, but this would require me going and getting my wii, hooking it up, a lot of dust, etc.

I'd say go for Arkham first.

If you're a Steam user, Dead Space/Ass Creed series will all be on sale for 50% or more during Steam Xmas, possibly Thanksgiving also.

I got arkham on the way, a hardcopy (cant beat 10$) and got AC2/Brotherhood digital for 10 and 15, downloading now.

Should keep me occupied.

Finished Tomb Raider Legend after playing it on/off casually for a couple months. Short game, especially compared to the earlier Tomb Raider games, but I thoroughly enjoyed it after having played the trainwreck that was 'Angel of Darkness' as my last title in the series prior to playing Legend. Will move onto Anniversary next after some trophy clean-up, hope it's as good, particularly in the voice acting and story-telling.

Also finished Doom 3 the other night for the first time since its released. I bought it day 1 7-years ago, but 75% through the game on what I'd describe as a slide-show on my PC at the time, then the hard drive in the poor machine died, taking my saves with it. Picked up the Doom pack on a Steam sale awhile back two months ago, which I marathon'd the majority of the game in a single sitting. Was only until yesterday did I decide to finish what I started. Will probably be another two months before I decide to delve into the expansion, which is supposedly shorter so I could just beat it in one go.

I have to say, the majority of games these days still do not hold a candle to Doom's (running idTech4) lighting. Visually, the game still holds up aside from some low-poly environments being masked by the incredible detail of their normal maps.

A bit of a shame that only the final two hours of the game felt like a proper Doom game where it started throwing waves of enemies at you rather than the 2-3 you only ever encountered at once until then.

Metro 2033 is a fantastic game.

I've been playing Stella Deus for the PS2 lately. And forgetting how unfuckingforgiving it is. I've had a couple fuck you moments with that game. Now I remember why I stopped playing it in the first place. On the plus side I picked up an old Dreamcast with all the hookups, a vmu, and 2 controllers for 20 bucks. Now I'm just waiting for my copy of Record of Lodoss War: Advent of Cardice to arrive.

Booted up Devil Summoner again. Was grinding loyalty in the nameless shrine. Ran into one of the fiends, Red Rider. Killed him after an epic battle. Did more grinding, ran into White Rider. Got him to half life and then got killed.

Fuck this game, argh.

Ys Origin ENG patch released, playing it on Nightmare as Yunica.

.... Full English patch? Cause I'm getting it if that's the case.
