Oi, I hope you made a backup, or plan to get that PS3 repaired so you don't lose your data. Sony really needs to drop that retarded encryption system for their hard drives so a new PS3 could use your old hard drive to get saves off of.
Never finished off my Borderlands trophies because I can't be arsed to re-grind for 10 some hours to the lvl cap so I can kill Crawmerax for a quest.
Anyways, for me, got my PS 3D monitor today along with Motorstorm/Resistance3/Uncharted3. Put a couple hours into Uncharted 3, and god damn that's some hot shit with the 3D turned on. Only thing I've come to learn is that it can be a little harder to tell what exactly the camera is trying to guide me towards since I have to look in/out of the depth levels of the screen.
Currenly updating Resistance 3 (wtf 1gb of patches), hoping to enjoy that. Was surprised to see it had a reversible cover that sported clean artwork free of logos, as I was never a fan of the R3 cover art being plastered with icons. No fucking clue what Sony was thinking with that, I mean, really? Look at this shit...

They need to come up with a new system for showing what a game supports. A series of basic recognizable icons up in the "Only on Playstation" bar would work fine since the back of the case can provide meaning to that, as they have been doing so for ages.
I'd have bet money it would have sold better using the reversed cover with just the addition of the ERSB & "PS3" header.
I disagree completely. Most people are in and out of the store quickly. They don't want to fuck around looking around at the back of the game to see what exactly it supports. Having it right up front is a smart business move, like showing that it's Move compatible etc. I don't know about you but I've never not purchased a game because the cover was cluttered.I'd have bet money it would have sold better using the reversed cover with just the addition of the ERSB & "PS3" header.
Recently finished Raidou 2 and wrote about it here: http://backloggers.blogspot.com/2011...n-process.html
Now onto KH2. ..Eh.
@Kaisha we opened R3 and didn't do any patches and well...didn't end very well. Game would freeze when you tried to look at collectibles and people in Coop would get stuck in places when you tried to proceed into the level![]()
I'm taking it they had to replace whole sections of a level or something for the size of those patches...
Anyways, not touched much of the game. Tried playing it 3-D, but uh...., the FOV is way too low for my sitting distance and made me feel nauseous, and the controller sensitivity is fucked. I can't tell if I'm in the minority or not that hates it when an FPS won't let you match the X & Y sensitivity. Looking up/down takes forever compared to left/right.
Guess I'll have to clear some space in this room so I can sit back further. I had to do the same shit with Fallout 3 since it was also low FOV. The game felt like I was playing with the camera duct-taped to the front of the character's head rather than from their eyes.
playing Skyrim right now, obviously.
also replaying SotN for the eight billionth time. this game may hold the record for most completions in my book. and even after all of these playthroughs I still find new random shit (equipping two Heaven's Swords gives you a special attack, wut). doing it with luck mode on this time, and I forgot that luck mode decreases all your other starting stats to 1, so that's been fun. 99 luck is awesome though; all sorts of random shit dropping now.
mostly playing just those two. everything else - both Kirby Wii games, Xenoblade, Shin Megami Tensei, ToD2 - it's all on hold due to Skyrim. I'll get back to my regular gaming life, in a couple months...
finished off Kirby rtdl will get back to it for the extra modes, got Excitebots for free when I bought kirby so playing that now, more or less surprised how fun it is to play, a good step up from Excite Truck. What let me down with Excite Truck was the 2 player, comeon now who takes all the AI out of 2player on a racing game.
I am jealous. I know I want to play skyrim as much as you do, to just get lost and sink 200 hours into it... but for whatever reason I'm futzing around with Uncharted and some other shit. My main hesitation is coming from the fact that I FINALLY have a PC good enough to run an Elder Scrolls game as soon as it comes out, but I played Oblivion on 360 and loved that so I was foolish enough to think I should get it for that (I've snapped out of it, I'll obviously get it on PC). But now I can't decide if I want to get a boxed copy, or if I just want to buy it from Steam....
...Writing this post has made me decide to get Skyrim this weekend so I really hope I can figure out which version to get. Does the boxed copy give you Steam keys?
As for stuff I'm playing:
Singularity - Decent Bioshock-ish shooter
Uncharted 3 - Not as good as 2
Dark Meadow - Not as good as Infinity Blade but just as addictive
Come to think of it I really need to finish Infinity Blade before IB2 comes out on 12/1...
skyrim is awesome, definitely go for it. I have the boxed copy and it's nothing too impressive. the manual is extremely short. it does come with a steam code, though.
The very first run of the boxed copies had a decent map in it. Not much else really.
Amazing game though. I got it for the PS3 simply because I just can't game on my pc outside of FFXI.
Besides that I've been playing Pokemon SoulSilver on the DS. Picked up the newest Layton game but have yet to start it.
Is the Mass Effect 2 DLC worth a shit? I saw a few copies of ME2 for PS3 for $19 the other day which I believe includes all of the dlc mission content aside from the latest, so I've been tempted to pick it up and finish that game for once since my interest on gaming on my PC has been dwindling over the past couple years.
Granted, I already own ME2 on PC (complete with tin case), but I never got around to finishing it.
The boxed copy uses Steam for DRM anyway. You run the installer, it starts Steam. Basically, the disc saves you from downloading, and (likely) includes a map (mine did, but I did preorder). You'll be required to use Steam for it either way, and don't need the disc after you install.
Yes
I know the ps3 version includes Kasumi, Overlord, and Lair of the Shadow Broker (LotSB is fucking awesome, esp. if you played ME1 and like Liara), do you have to pay for Zaeed? Zaeed's pretty cool, a lot of people like his story and he's decently useful in combat.
Arrival wasn't as good as LotSB but I'd definitely play it if you're planning on playing ME3.
Wiki mentions
Granted it's been so long since I put the PC copy in that I can't tell which of those are part of the Cerberus Network and which was pay-for.Other plot-related DLC includes the loyalty missions "Zaeed - The Price of Revenge" and "Kasumi - Stolen Memory", Normandy Crash Site, Firewalker Pack and Overlord. "Overlord", "Lair of the Shadowbroker" and "Kasumi: Stolen Memories" are already burnt onto the disc of the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2.
Just feels like it'd be cheaper to buy the PS3 version than to buy the DLC for my PC copy, which shows the sad state of affairs when it comes to DLC pricing schemes imo. At least ME2 should feel comfier with a controller given how they butchered what I liked about ME1 on the PC vs. the sequel.
Shame I'll have to start a new Shepard from scratch. Something for me to keep in mind anyhow since I got a bit of a backlog currently.
Speaking of backlog, I'm working on Sonic Unleashed again because I'm a fucking masochist. Game greeted me with sub-15fps on the first town I entered to figure out where the fuck I had to head to next. Can't wait to spend 5 boobless hours as Werehog since all the story-progression stages favor it for some reason.
Finally manned up and beat Quake II two weeks ago which was huge for me since I played it so much as a kid but never beat it. I think Q1 was better but anyway... last week I beat Bastion and that game is fantastic if you like the Secret of Mana type of stuff. Right now I'm busy with Saints Row 3 which is amazingly and relentlessly ridiculous. Definitely worth picking up for all the absurd stuff you can do around the city with or without friends.
PS3 version includes everything but Arrival and a couple of the weapon packs. Arrival is only 6 bucks or something, so you can put together the full experience for something like a grand total of 25, so yeah, it's worth picking up. And yes, like Atreides said, get Arrival if you plan to play ME3.
I grabbed the weapon pack bundle though, since all of that stuff is going to transfer into ME3, and it was only like 7 bucks for all 5 of them.
holy balls I installed skyrim and the past 4 hours just vanished...
All that talk about Mass Effect a couple pages back has really raised my interest in it. Only problem is I don't own a 360 at the moment. I plan on buying one in the future when I can find one dirt cheap to play a few of the exclusives, like, GoW1-3. So, my question is, should I wait till that time so that I can play ME1, or should I just play PS3's version of 2 and 3?
Anyway, I'm about to finish up my MGS marathon. Currently on MGS4 and taking my time with it till Skyward Sword is out.
tbh there's no real issues with just starting with 2 on the PS3. The little back comic that's part of it doesn't cover every little piece of the first game's story, but you can always do a little reading on the wiki to flesh stuff out a bit more, and it covers all the major decisions for ME3. I started with 2 on the PS3, ended up going back and playing 1 on the PC, and I honestly feel like I could've lived without going back to it.
