Even with new big patch on WKC2, I still haven't been playing it much lately. Instead, I been playing Elsword a lot more lately these days, just got my 4th character to lv40+ and decided to make a vid of me running a dungeon on my ancient shitty ass PC. Forgot to turn off Dynamic Camera when making it though...

huh, I wanted to play TLR but that sounds like a pain. I still have nightmares about missing one fucking conversation - just one out of the hundreds! - in FFX-2, and missing out on the mascot dress sphere as a result. and I was even following a guide...

Try not to be an OCD fuckface and you'll enjoy the game.

It really was enjoyable without being OCD, until you got to the end and realized you can't do any of the post-story Endgame because you missed one fucking quest that disappears halfway through the game.

Just beat Professor Layton & The Spectre's Call and found out the 100 hour London Life RPG isn't included in the EU version. NA & JP only.

Still a great game but nowhere near as epic as the 3rd with it's tear inducing ending.

You only realize that if you know you're missing it, if you just played the game... ya know, etc

Ignorance is bliss? I guess it's alright if being casual and having fun can lock you out of the last 25% of the game's content as long as you don't know it exists.

So... not looking information on the internet = casual now?
    Well, shit.

Back in my day not using the internet/guides was hardcore... how times have changed.

I got about a fourth of the way through TLR on Brobox before realizing how the PC version had such a better offering due to patches and tweaks that the 360 never got, so I stopped that playthrough and plan to restart it sometime soon on the PC.

Overlooking something amazing that is attainable/startable early on, but that you can go back to get whenever, is fine; overlooking something amazing that is attainable/startable early on, but that you can't go back to get because the game decided to fuck you in the ass with its cryptic sidequest/deadline system that's difficult to understand at times... not quite so fine.

Want to pick a point, buddy? If the idea is "It's just a game, enjoy it and you won't even know that you're missing half the content!", stick with that. It sounds pretty casual to me. TLR as a whole is a pretty mean to casuals, and that's my point. It's fun if you just coast through the game without worrying about every little thing, but it literally locks you out of a ton of the content that you can't go back and unlock. As in, entire DLCs on the 360 version are completely inaccessible in the PC version if you miss one quest before stepping into Undelwalt.

My point never changed, play the fucking game... don't worry about anything else. I wouldn't call that any more or less casual than anything. I don't know why you're telling me to pick a point when you're the one that brought up that nonsense. The fuck is wrong you, son?

And my point was that you really only get to play half the game if you "just play it". That's my biggest qualm with the game. I don't think that's acceptable at all, and it really bugs me because, otherwise, I love the game. It's just exceedingly annoying to log 60+ hours in a game, enjoy it, and then realize you can't actually keep playing it because you don't have access to all of the stuff that's left for you to do and it's impossible for you to go back and get access without starting all over and jumping through hoops the whole time.

Yes, I understand that... Just play the damn game and instead of going emo if you found out you missed some content either shrug and move on because you enjoyed the game without it and can't be bothered to go back so you can experience it or... go back and play through while jumping through the hoops and whatnot if you find it to be worth it.

Oh, okay. So, basically, I'm not allowed to have issues with an otherwise good game without being emo or an OCD fuckface. Christ. No one ever said it wasn't fun. You're the one who jumped onto my case for having a complaint about the game.

Some people actually do enjoy being able to do shit after the final story boss dies. Ultimate weapons, final upgrades, new techniques, extra dungeons, that shit is fun. The fact that you have to choose between this and actually playing the rest of the game is a horrible design flaw and it's important that people know about it before they dump 60 hours into the game only to realize that they missed some stupid unmarked dialogue 40 hours ago.

I like it too, but am I going to cry about it or whine if I enjoyed the game and happened to miss out on something? Nope. This is what makes me not be emo. And being able to enjoy games fine without missing even the smallest thing is what makes me not an OCD fuckface.
    Guess what I'll do.
    Spoiler: show
I'll start a new game if I feel like it and go from there or move on.

The fact that you can't handle that is what makes you as described, get it straight.

I get Kuroikage's point. My first time through games, I don't use a guide. It's not till I beat the game when I finally look shit up. If I happened to miss out on cool shit, oh fucking well. If it's cool enough, it just gives me a reason to replay the game. And, if the game is good, I don't mind it at all.

I usually don't use a guide until "Endgame", or the "Final grind". I just don't see the point in repeating the first 50 hours of a game to get to the last 30. That's a lot of time to burn on shit you've already done, and replay value in linear JRPGs isn't exactly stellar. I'd rather get it all done in one playthrough while still being able to enjoy the game.

What I tend to do before playing an RPG, is just do a little research and check to see if there's anything important that's missable, without spoiling anything for myself.

    And this.

Game design that locks stuff out at the end of the game if you didn't do something in the middle of the game that you wont really bump into by just playing the game normally is bad game design.

And it's not just JRPGs for me, but in general, I only replay games if they were SO FUCKING GOOD, that I want to re-experience everything about it all over again. For all other games that don't fit that description, I want to get the full experience on my first, and probably only, play through.

Minus games where they're split into multiple paths, and each play through you can pick a different path. Like, say, I can't really think of one off the top of my head that does this, except for Radiata Stories, which I never finished, but at some point, I believe you get to choose to either take one side or the other, and the game just follows that story to the end. With games like these, I usually do one path, wait a while until I forget most of it, and then replay it on the other path, so that the REDUNDANT PARTS THAT YOU ALREADY DID don't feel as redundant.

And I just thought of one: Tactics Ogre. There's 3 different paths you can take, but in the remake, you can experience all of them in one play through, so I ended up just doing everything as part of the end-game content. Had I been playing the original instead, I would have probably done what I explained above. Do law path, wait until I feel like playing the game again, do Chaos path, wait until I feel like playing the game again, and then do the Neutral path.

To play a single path game casually, and miss out on all of the extra end game contents because of some stupid bullshit thing you didn't do at some point of the game is fucking terrible game design. Once you reach the end of the game, you should be able to do the fucking end game content without having to play through everything that YOU JUST DID again right away.

I am incredibly OCD about games, btw. I usually try to do everything, and if the game is good enough try to max everything, but I usually get bored somewhere in between.
