Been playing PSP version of this all day
So much better than last year. Showa riders in it too are a nice bonus. Missions instead of that horrible story mode in OOO is tons better.

Finally went and finished Legend of Heroes: Trials in the Sky...
God, I want them to translate the sequels so much :<
Uncharted 2 and DotA 2 atm.
tell me about it... so many weird little things in this game. although the Fort Condor battles are among the most random and obscure.
also, did you know magic defense is totally pointless in FFVII due to a programming error? it does nothing. nothing at all.
speaking of FFVII, I just hit Northern Crater. have my gold chocobo, currently grinding chocobo races on auto... unless Teioh shows up, then I have to pay attention and use the stamina cheat. fucking hate that Teioh guy.
I'm bouncing between skyrim, mario kart 7, ,and fallout new vegas cuz apparently I have ADHD at this ripe old age of 27. Mario Kart makes me rage hard. HARD.
Enjoying ME2 a lot more on the PS3 than I did PC. The streamlining of the game elements were much better suited the gamepad, which made the game feel a little too 'basic' for keyboard/mouse compared to how ME1 handled on it, which is where I lost interest on that platform. I kinda miss being able to have multiple hotkeys for my abilities, but I'll live with what I got. Kinda glad I picked it up cheap now at any rate, since the online pass included apparently expires early in January. Going to try and platinum it eventually, didn't realize the trophy list was that manageable other than the hardest-difficulty one.
Also still playing Morrowind, and also still getting my ass whooped by that one sorcerer guy on a bridge for Caius' first quest, so I've been killing time doing Fighters/Mages/Thief guild quests trying to do something productive while skilling up for levels rather than barely getting on through the main quest by the skin of my teeth.
Been bouncing between Solatorobo and the Sly Collection, but I keep finding myself pulled back to Solato. I managed to pick it up on/around black friday for 19.99, and I can't say I've regretted the purchase. It's nothing too amazing in terms of gameplay, but man did they ever craft a world inside of this game.
I was impressed with Sola's craftsmanship, particularly given its a DS. Towns with lots of detail, foreground/background elements, smooth frame-rate, etc.
I only wish (spoiler)
Spoiler: show
Spent most of my day playing Outland at any rate. Game is alright, although I was kinda hoping it'd be more difficult. Something like this would have been fuck-awesome as a Super Meat Boy style game. Fast paced high-precision platforming with melee combat and bullet-hell absorption? Would have been beastly. Would have beat the game in two sittings, but the final boss was being a douche, so I ended up spending a couple hours finding all the collectables and farming currency for the health upgrade shrines.
I was talking about equipment bonuses, yeah. big guard gives you shell, which works as intended. by magic defense I mean the stat that is derived from your armor. sucks because some pieces of equipment which should be really nice for certain battles - wizard armlet I just picked up gives you a whopping 90 MDEF - end up being useless.
yeah, spirit is the only stat that matters for magic defense. mbarrier/shell helps too.
just found another random bug last night: added effect + time materia in your armor protects against slow and stop, like you'd expect... but it also "protects" you from haste, lol
so many random little things in these games. definitely glad I decided to replay it. almost done with the main game now but I could double my playtime in the Gold Saucer alone...
did you ever decide to pick it up, by the way?
I spent so many hours in the Gold Saucer in my last playthrough. If I play it again I'm going to try to flag the Barret or Yuffie date. lol
I did Tifa this time because she is the true love of Cloud's life whether he knows it or not. plus she's easy to flag due to a glitch, as is Barret... not sure about Yuffie.
ARGGGHHH I forgot you lose all your BP when you leave the arena... aaaaahhahaha that sucked. 20k BP down the drain. I mean it's not difficult to get more at this point, but still...
Actually, no. I haven't had much free time lately and all of it has actually been spent on FFXIV... (yes, that game) raising an alt that I may or may not sell when the montly billing rolls around (if anyone wants to buy XIV accounts lmao, who would?)
And, I always get Tifa for the date even without trying... don't know about the glitch but I figure I must be triggering it somehow, maybe?
I don't mind that because Tifa's who I would want there anyway... but still, never had to try.
nah Tifa is very easy to get anyway. the glitch will guarantee it though; there's a repeatable dialogue option and choosing the right answer over and over will boost your affinity into the stratosphere. Barret has one too.
and I want to pick up FFXIV...lol. doubt I will though; no time for a MMO right now.
If you want an exercise in poking your eyes out, sure.
I did some cleaning up on some games in my backlog.
- Outland. Completed story and did everything I could aside from one co-op trophy since I can't find a partner. Enjoyable game that doesn't overstay its welcome.
- Doom 3:RoE - Beat Doom 3 for the first time a couple months ago (after owning it since week 1 of release), got around to doing the expansion also. I still find it crazy that a 7-year old PC game has better lighting capabilities and higher resolution textures than most modern games. Makes me curious how Prey 2 will look since its using idTech4 also.
- Dead Nation - Fuck that's a tiring game. My playstyle is way too conservative on ammo so I end up taking twice as long as the game's par time just slowly inching through the levels and picking what I can off with my starting weapon (which has infinite ammo). I beat it solo on grim, currently working on morbid difficulty as I want to platinum this game. Under-appreciated game, dunno why it took me nearly a year to get around to finishing it (purchased it months before Sony gave it to everyone free ;/).
- Currently back to working on Prey again, kinda hoping it's a short game as the gunplay is way too consolized for my likes. By that I mean the weapons have hardly any recoil, the enemy reaction times are slow, and the general movement is sluggish, even compared to Doom 3 which at least had a sprint button. Mainly playing it because I like the level design and the portal/magnetic-track gimmicks, that and the main protagonist speaks out a lot which I'm finding a nice change of pace from the silent-protagonist in the more recent FPS I've been playing.
Also picked up Sengoku Basara for my PS3. No fucking clue why I did, but it was in the bargain bin, and looked like a mindless combat-mashin' game, which should work well for playing while listening to some podcasts. I used to use Borderlands for that purpose, but I nearly 100%'d that game before my old PS3 die, and I can't be arsed to regrind 20 lvls to solo Crawmerax.
[EDIT] Whelp, Prey done also. ;/ Save data prior to finishing last boss says 4hr38m of playtime. That was....shorter than even the Doom 3 expansion.
finally got three of each master materia in FFVII, without killing Emerald Weapon. do you know how fucking long it takes to get three Master Summon materia? even if you cheat and duplicate elixirs so you can fight magic pots (which I did) it takes probably 5+ hours per mastered KotR materia. if you don't cheat, I shudder to think of the timesink. it would take 10+ hours to master one KotR, I'm guessing.
what's funny is that everyone does 9999 with their ultimate weapons now, so I just use 4x cut on most encounters anyway... but god damn it, if I wanted to I could summon anything. and that's what counts.
now to decide what to load onto my PSP for the plane trip to Austin... or maybe I'll get my DS + cyclo out and play one of the Castlevania games, hmm.
