Then don't bother with it, seriously.
If you're going into it with the expectations that it'll be amazing since everyone else seems to love it you're probably going to dislike it more than you would have naturally and it already ain't your kinda game. That'd just be a waste of time.

To be honest, I disagree. I think Skyrim is a quality game -- unless you're very narrow with your tastes in game, and I mean extremely narrow, then I think Skyrim is a caliber of game that will make you enjoy a genre on its own. If glitches here and there aren't dealbreakers, you'll enjoy the game for a few hours at least.

At that point, you'll either keep playing because those few hours were so enjoyable, or the open world system doesn't suit you and you'll get bored.

Eh, I think my tastes are pretty broad. Probably the only type of games I don't play are Strategy and hardcore JRPGs. I guess I considered Skyrim not my style due to the fact that I hated Fallout 3. Though I guess that happened because I went into that thinking it was a standard FPS and not an RPG since I never read up on it before I rented it.

Really loved MC2. Sucks that it didn't have a two player function, but kind of makes sense given how the chaining system worked.

I was really surprised, given how disappointing the first one was (and yes, I played through the entire thing, even enjoyed it at many points, but the last few hours were kinda..WTF).

It was the environment -- Im a sucker for medieval style/generally things pre-gun warfare.

I played the first one up until some Thunder Ruins or something, a canyon of lightning? Fuck if I remember. Battles were neat, but I just couldn't get into it at all.

The second one plays -completely- different from the first. It's not a game that will be everyone's cup of tea (the chaining system somewhat slows what could be more fast paced combat) but..I don't know, the game really clicked with me. It's not perfect, I wish it could've been slightly more expansive, but it was a game I deliberately put down for awhile because I was all "Fuck, I'm enjoying this TOO much, don't want to plow through a good thing too fast".

The first -- well, actually, "Tears of Blood / Crimson Stigmata" (technically, the first one was on PC) had potential.. but the localization in terms of dubbing was poor, loading times were horrendous and the story got kind of sloppy at the end. It felt different, though, in a good way.. but I could see where people would find it really, really tedious to play through.

Currently finishing up the side-quests in chrono trigger for iphone, since it is the only version i haven't beaten yet, i feel compelled to just beat it on every console. Right after that, back to xenoblade i go!

Great game if you're into that sort of thing though some of the fights can get frustrating half-way in. What was interesting about it was that a seemingly innocuous decision within the first few minutes of the game determined which path you took. One thing I enjoyed most about it (and the series in general) was the ability to customize your robots right down to their paint jobs.

It's not a SRPG, or... RPG at all, but play some Armored Core games if you want some good robot customization and some good fun blowing up other robots.

Also, despite being short and way too easy... Front Mission Evolved wasn't terrible but it was like Armored Core with a lot more flaws (still worth playing if you like that kinda game though... AC is way better so maybe play FME first AND DON'T EXPECT ANYTHING GOOD FROM THE STORY)
