Only game I ever I stopped playing because of VA was Arc Rise Fantasia. So awful, luckily I ended up just getting an undubbed .iso, but that wasn't until months after.
Zenonia 3DS, Anonymous Notes 1 & 2 and, Samurai Sword Destiny.
Zenonia is actually pretty good...considering I planned to dl it on the psp, but kept forgetting about it. Anon notes feels like a cheap Secret of Mana clone. The Samurai game just kicks my ass so fuck it.
Can't believe I didn't play Lost Odyssey until now. Game is awesome. Love the short stories/dreams. Why can't more RPGs be like this these days?
got Red Dead Redemption just recently for a nice price on Ps3.
Got my poncho... personal achievent: GOT!
Awesome game though, can't believe i did not play it yet.
dem xoboxz
Currently tormenting myself with replaying FFX-2, since I rage quitted it when I missed getting a episode complete on ch.5, then gonna alternate between FFX and FFVIII. Also on a related note, fuck tobli, brother, and hypellos and commspheres.
LIRUM NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.Disc 1 is great. The rest of it is just like any other jRPG
And it's not like any other RPG. It has TWO, count them, TWO black people!
Decided to replay the .hack games starting from Infection going all the way through to G.U. part 3. Halfway through Infection atm. Having played these mostly as a kid and going through them now I realize how fucking awesome these games were aside from the repetitive dungeons. The combat system is challenging and fun and heavily based on strategy, they managed to simulate an MMO fairly well, albeit with not nearly as many people because of hardware limitations. But yeah, fucking amazing innovative gameplay aside from the repetitiveness of the dungeons and the god awful virus core hunting that you have to do in part 3 and 4 of the first series.
EDIT: Also having dual audio helps so much for the quality of the game. lol
Played through disc one and enjoyed the hell out of it, thinking it was one of the best rpgs. The Dream sequences caught me off guard. Hanna's Departure was worth the price of the game alone. Then for some reason I never finished the game. I feel like I am right at the end too, but I stopped playing last year. I hang my head in shame whenever I see the CD setting there collecting dust.
The one that got away.
I got to disc 4 and gave up. Such a boring as fuck game in terms of gameplay. The story started off pretty good but then just got meh as it went along, the dream sequences were amazing though. Probably the most overrated RPG this gen, really wish it didn't get as much praise as it did.
I think one of them was voiced by one of the Rugrats VAs which made them so much worse than they would have been otherwise too.
Playing Metroid: Other M, and Final Fantasy XIII (grinding last achievement.. Treasure Hunter)
Saw Other M "new" for $10 at Gamestop so I decided to pick it up. After I read up on how linear and restrictive it was I had no desire to pay full price for it. So far I like it, but I do wish it had more exploration/sequence breaking. Oh well for ten bucks I can't complain!
I suppose there is far far worse in other games. But that combination of terrible fucking funeral gathering when you first meet them, the VAs and the fact that they're just children and I fucking hate kids is like a trifecta of awful for me. The rest of the cast is actually likable though, which is nice for a JRPG given there's usually one tolerable character and the rest are awful.
Yeah, I thought that funeral was weird too lol, but generally they didn't do a lot to annoy me and were pretty useful for the most part. There's one stupid thing they did that I just couldn't stand but even that wasn't enough to make me hate them.
I usually hate children in RPGs (actually, games/TV/movies in general) because they're so fucking awful, but Cooke and Mack weren't that bad overall. They were the worst characters out of the cast for sure, but the cast generally was strong and worked well together so that's kind of a compliment too.
If LO had better game play I would've loved the game so much. Thank fuck it had that attack ring thing (even though it was extremely basic), otherwise I might have fallen asleep during battle.
