that's what's making me hesitant to continue on. I don't mind farming but I don't need to fight the same 30+ minute battles over and over again.
depends on the farming. the only time farming really bothers me is if it's a boss I'm struggling with as it is - like Yian Kut-Ku, who I can beat, but barely (for now). although the only reason I have to farm him for now is armor, and armor has nothing to do with Khezu. every single attack he uses is telegraphed to all hell; it's never a problem dodging him. he just... won't... DIE. lol
IIRC when you get online you're sent to a player-made hub world with shops and stuff, and from there you can either form a party with friends or join a random group to do different quests. I don't have a keyboard/bluetooth either, but I don't think that will be a problem with competent players.
Getting my ass kicked in SimCity 4. This is a hell of a lot more complex than 2000.
Worst case there's vent or some other chat function we can use, I'm sure. My PS3's close to my computer. PM me your info (user handle, when you're on, etc.)IIRC when you get online you're sent to a player-made hub world with shops and stuff, and from there you can either form a party with friends or join a random group to do different quests. Helpful hints: Build outward and not upward. Low density until 2k residents minimum. Farms are good for early revenue. Also it is possible to fill an entire small region with just light residential with a buttload of dirty industry.
Yes people live in this craphole, but people next door want jobs.
Don't worry too much about services. Let them rot for a while. Don't build anything your advisers say (super huge high school/aquifier/university, etc) It will make you bleed money for a long time. Example: Water towers suffice for a long while until you get to about 8+, then you can replace your towers with a single pump.
Also once you get used to the game, get a few mods to make the game even more awesome (Notably the Network Addon Mod and Road Top Mass transit) Just the Road top mass transit mod will add a new dimension to the game as you min/max your way to (requires the first mod to work)
Man, all this talk about WKC2. I tried to pick it back up a while ago, but no one was playing, and now everyone wants to play when there's too many other demanding online co-op games on the horizon.
Playing Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan Saisen in prep for
The multiplayer in WKC is odd. It's mostly about leveling up your avatar, farming crafting materials/making money, raising guild rank, improving your georama. It's tough getting started since not too many people seem willing to help out noobies. There's usually a fair amount of people playing any time you log on(even "off hours" for NA.) The game is apparently still very popular in France so there are a ton of French lobbies. There's a decent amount of active guilds as well. It all comes down to whether or not people want to help you.
So years later, we finally get an RK fighting game that doesn't suck?
I had the one on PSX a long time ago.. not sure how the PS2 one was.
Finally got around to playing (and beating) inFamous since I got it for free when psn went down for so long. Didn't realize how good it was. Anyone know if the second one or any of the DLC's are worth getting?
I didn't like inFamous 2 as much as the first one (personally I felt it lost a bit of its 'identity' with the direction it takes), but it's still damn fun gameplay-wise.
The Festival of Blood stand-alone DLC is fun for the couple hours it lasts (really). Best bet is waiting for it to go on sale again, $5 felt about right for it rather than its full $10 tag.
Anyways, I missed out on Steam sales due to internet outage, so I blew some cash on PS3 games instead since my local Walmart was doing a buy1-get1-50% off on $15-20 games. Not sure where to start...., I beat Yakuza 3 last night so I'm itching to try out #4, but I feel obligated to give Valkyria Chronicles a whirl due to the amount of people who won't shut up about it.1
So many shiny plastic covers...

Taking my sweet time going through Max Payne 3. I can't remember the last game that I was happy I bought right at release, but this is definitely it. I just got to the second disc around ch. 7 I think and it reminded me of the first few spoilers that came out last year I think. I remember how I thought the game was going to be a flop and it was taking too much away from the classic noir feeling, but I was so far off. I'm in love with this game.
I've never heard of Yakuza until recently and it makes me want to get a ps3. But, if I'm understanding correctly not all ps 1/2 games are backwards compatible and it has to be on a certain ps3 model? I feel I'd be better off getting a ps2 of craigslist or something and a new ps3. I still have a ps1.
Only earlier PS3 Fat models could play PS2 games. Last ones to do so iirc were the MGS4-bundled PS3s. All PS3 models can play PS1 games though.
At any rate, the first two Yakuza games are getting an HD re-release in Japan, so I'm curious if SEGA will bother getting the licenses for it over here again......preferably with dual-audio track. I've only played #3 here and didn't feel I was missing out on too much, it included two videos that gave the jist of what went down in the first two games also.
I also wanted to check out the original Deus Ex. I may as well purchase it for pc as the GoTY on amazon is like, $12 used.
Not sure if it's just my local one or what, but the Best Buy near me has their PS2 Slims on clearance for $59.99. Not quite as good as when Gamestop converted their new units to used, but still decent.
PS2 games are generally dirt cheap at the moment though...but, yeah, I'd get Deus Ex on PC. It's often been on sale on Steam for $2.50 or so.
- anyone else ever play Shadow Hearts: Covenant? replaying it now. it's easily in my top 5 games of all-time. great story, hilarious dialogue (if the Ring Soul parts don't make you laugh you are inhuman), deep RPG gameplay with endless amounts of shit to collect and upgrade, everything is top-notch and it all fits together beautifully. and despite how funny the game is, the story is surprisingly deep - you know you cried whenSpoiler: show
- put Suikoden V on the backburner for now. I forgot how badly this game starts to drag in the latter half. the story takes a dive from from high political intrigue and a series of ever-juicier plot twists to "fight the Godwin army, go back to your base, repeat ad nauseum."
- fucking done with MHFU for the moment. just, just... fuck this goddamn game. I'll be back. but for now, fuck it.
- in lieu of MHFU, my PSP is occupied with Persona 2: Innocent Sin. ridiculously slow and tediously complicated battles, but the meat is there, and it's good. not to mention the characters have that ever-present SMT charm, though the dialogue isn't quite as polished as some of the other games in the series.
