that game (along with a number of other really awesome 90s capcom sidescrollers) is included on Capcom Classics Collection vol. 2, in case anyone is wondering. And it's awesome.

Started up the original God of War on my PS2 so I can see what the fuss is/was about while I wait for my local store to get a copy of Prototype in a week late at a stupid markup.

I just finished a stint of playing Suikoden V->I->II->III. The original is total garbage compared to II. It's great for an introductory and to give you some foundation on lore in the series and general mechanics, but it's extremely short. Almost everything about Suikoden II is leaps and bounds above the first: graphics are better, music is better, story is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better, but the translation is awful. I mean... really, really awful. Not quite "all your base," but it's obvious it wasn't translated by a native English-speaking person... nor spell-checked.

If I had to rank them in order, I'd say V being the best, then II, III, and I. I skipped IV, though, since I heard it sucked.

Spent a while and beat MGS 1,2 and 3. What an awesome series, don't have a ps3 for mgs4, but I am really, really wanting one now.

I think im going to switch it up a bit and play disgaea HoD. Sweet, sweet etna.

It always shocks me when somebody mentions that they are just playing the MGS series but I also get over excited for them despite not even knowing them. It is something every human should get the chance to enjoy. Get a PS3 by all means, even if you have to rape and pillage.

I think I will buy MGS on the PSN once it comes out. Get excited for me!

(MGS4 was my first game. I guess I sort of ruined the story for me but whatever, I still loved 4)

Naw you're fine. Even though you know the back story, the individual boss fights and other stuff in each game is more than enough to play each one :D

As for Suikoden, I was planning on downloading the first one from PSN and playing it on my psp at some point. Tbh I'm enjoying Tierkreis so far, I find the gear progression kinda underwhelming but it's semi-satisfying, although I am regretting not picking DQ5 as my DS RPG to play first. I think the PSN store price for suikoden is only 5.99 so I can just pick that up and worry about tracking down/pirating 2 if I really like it.

I need one of those necklaces Hermoine had in Prisoner of Azkaban if I have any hopes of ever finishing my backlog this century
I liked R&C until it became apparent I'd have to spend forever collecting bolts to get the coolest weapons. It probably wasn't as bad as I remember though. I should give it another run-through, now that the plot has completely disappeared from my memory.

It's probably good to start with Tierkris I suppose. That way you won't be spoiled by the earlier ones before you reach it. Although the main games in the series shouldn't really be played in any other order than I -> V the first time, since the number of cameos and little hints towards the earlier games is astronomical. It's one of the things that makes the series so great.

Sounds like you have a good plan... hurry up and get to II so you can see why I thought you named yourself after it lol

DQV DS is ok but nowhere near as good as the SNES version. Unlike most fan translations it's actually fantastic and quite professional - there are even two versions, one for Dragon Warrior naming conventions and one for Dragon Quest. Plus the challenge level is non-existant in the DS version. So yeah you're really not missing out on that much in my opinion.

I have MGS3 but never finished it. In fact after the opening mission I don't think I even got to the first boss fight. I need to go back to it someday. I'm trying to talk myself into it before I get MGS4.

I got my 360 replaced so I'm back to Dead Rising. After I clear it once I'll probably start into Last Remnant or Mass Effect.

Currently playing Suikoden: Tierkreis on DS. Even though it isn't canon to the rest of series it still carries that RPG atmosphere I fell in love with over 10 years ago.

Just took advantage of the Buy 2 Get 1 game free from Target.

After $130 in retail + taxes I picked up Infamous, SFIV, and RE5.

I also ordered Rockband 2 for $80 with all the instruments and it's en route.

I'm set on video games until Uncharted 2 and AC2 comes out. Maybe even longer.

Anyone play Black Sigil: Blade of the Exile for DS yet? It just came out this week and it's gotten decent reviews, although I've read some horror stories about it freezing up a bunch for some people.

I played about 30 mins of it today, from what I've seen it's a really nice old-school style RPG with a well-designed menu interface and combat system. The story seems pretty interesting so far too, I'm half tempted to skip finishing Suikoden Tierkreis and just play this, although I really want to finally beat a game, lol.

Steal Princess is a lot more boring than I thought it would be, from only a few mins of play, and Knights in the Nightmare looks neat but there's literally like 1 hour of tutorials to get through. Yay flash carts.
