Is it necessary to play the Yakuza series in order to understand the series and/or get the most fun out of it?

1 & 2 were the best ones to be honest. 3 & 4 are very entertaining(I own the whole series) but not quite on the same level when it comes to the story telling. My personal favorite is #2. Dead Souls is also pretty fucking entertaining imo. But I've been touting the Yakuza series on BG for years. So I'm biased.

Finished up Borderlands 2 on my 2nd playthrough. Pretty fun but I don't think I can stand doing the 3rd mode since the barrage of sidequests gets annoying.

Been kind of in an RPG mood lately, but I can't seem to find anything that sparks my interests.

The combat can get repetitive but it's entertaining. There's a shitload of side quests to do as well like the arena and banging the Hostess club chicks, running your own host club, etc.

I think this is the last time I will post a YLOD picture. It's not difficult to fix(if it gets fixed) but damn is it a time sink. I guess I deserve it for playing the thing so much instead of just playing on the new ps3. Only thing on it are my sonic adventure 2 saves, Dead Island, and MAYBE Dragon's Dogma. I'll have to limit the console only to lan multiplayer for now on (if i'm lucky).

How long would you say the story is? Would be on Hard in the unlikely event that makes a diff. It looks fucking amazing but I don't know if I can drop that cash right now unless I'm putting a good chunk of time in.

I haven't beat it yet, but I heard from my cousin that it took him like 15hrs to beat it the first time. But with working on multiple runs for trophy purposes + the awesome MP, I'd say you'll put a good chunk of time into it overall.

I have heard 15 hours tossed around a lot, and I would imagine being on hard might add a tiny bit more to that. Hard is apparently pretty damned hard. I am loving it like I can't remember loving a game in quite some time. I don't want it to end.

Got Caesar III off of the gog sale. Not a bad game, but for 1.99 its was totally worth it.

I know there is a The last of us thread, but all people seem to talk about in there is the multiplayer.
Just want to say if you have a ps3 you would be doing yourself a great injustice if you do not get this. Fuck, I just beat it and I just promised two non ps3 owners I know that I will let them borrow my system and the game so they can beat it. Arguably the greatest game ever. And I am a stingy guy that has never questioned a game to be better then Metal Gear Solid. But I have to say this may just be.

Lately I've been playing:

- Guild Wars 2. Started playing this back in November when FF14 1.0 went down, but lately it's been getting pretty stale after Anet decided that the Living Story temporary content was the direction they needed to go in. Most of the Dragon Bash achievements were literally "walk up to spot, hit F, repeat ad nauseum." I really hope they bring back Super Adventure Box soon, or at least add some new maps to explore, some RELEVANT storyline... something engaging.

- Phantasy Star Online 2. I loved playing PSO on Gamecube back in the day, and PSO2 is fun to an extent, but I'm finding that it's just more of the same repetitive grinding and not enough new innovations. Also, it doesn't help that Sega's still a bunch of seemingly racist bastards who won't release the game outside of Japan and has their heads up their asses regarding any news about it.

- Warframe. Started to play this a little bit with a friend of mine recently, not really sure what to think of it just yet, as I can't really get into it.

Overall, been getting pretty bored and wanting something new to play until ARR comes out, but so far I've haven't really seen anything out lately that has piqued my interest. I'd kill for a new F-Zero game with online and a track/car editor, or a Pokemon MMO... but I highly doubt that will happen anytime soon:

I really can't disagree with this at all. Simply amazing. Finished it myself on Friday night, and was just blown away by it the entire time and as a whole. I can't remember playing something this gripping, engrossing and beautiful in a long time, if ever.
