Sorry but ME3 has the best gameplay in the series by far and ME1 is just so hard to re-play because both 2 and 3 shit on it.

I just love the inventory (or lack of) in 2 compared to 1. While the customization was neat in 1, it was largely all fluff and entirely unneeded especially with how streamlined the combat became in one.

Add the removal of the overheating system and it's like whoa, this rocks.

finished my first file on demon's souls, very glad i finally got around to playing this game. now i'm torn between whether i'd rather NG+ for more trophies, or give dark souls a spin. probably won't get around to either one for a while yet though, that will most likely be a 2014 project.

still working on SMT4, hoping to have that plus a couple other odds and ends wrapped up before ARR hits.

Started the Last Story on Sunday, finished it Tuesday. I really enjoyed it, quite frankly.

Working on finally finishing up Vesperia. I like it, but as I've mentioned before, something about it just never clicks with me like the other Tales games.. I can't quite place my finger on it. It's one of those Tales games that I feel like I have to parse out, rather than marathon. Have a feeling I'll do a second playthrough, though.

Also have Star Ocean 4 going. I'm ok with it, but Edge is going through his Heroic BSOD mode right now and is getting annoying. I think I like the fact that this is the first Star Ocean where you're exploring multiple planets, rather than "whoops, LOL we got marooned here for a better part of the game"

I liked that too about SO4, but it means you couldn't really get involved with anything properly. Though SO3 did it, it always felt weird that everything necessary to progress the plot forward was miraculously on this one planet for the most part lol. However, despite that SO4 still doesn't do story/plot progression or characters well.

Fun game still if you ignore all that BS and do the extra shit. Wish there was more difficult bosses and not just cycles making everything stronger.

SO4 disappoints all around for me because they didn't just take SO3 as a base and improve.
Nearly everything was worse from story to characters to combat.

Visually I liked everything about SO4, including the way battles looked. I will agree that SO3s combat was superior due to AAA (compared to Blindsides which are lacking in everything but style) and overall was just a lot more fun to play.

If SO3 had SO4's visuals and presentation in an out of battle I'd be very happy. Also some semblance of the blindside mechanic for movement and flanking. I bet if you combined blindsides and AAA you'd get something amazing.

Playing Starcraft 2 WoL again cause I just bought HotS. I played through 1 and BW again, without cheats, aside from a few zerg missions in BW because I couldn't take how unbalanced that game is and I was mostly doing it to remember the story anyways. I keep getting sidetracked with the damn Arcade though, the damn tower defense maps are SO ADDICTING.

All that it explains is that I value gameplay over story and characters. But naturally, you think games with terrible gameplay and good story are fine as well, and I'd agree because it depends on what you play games for. Not even gonna bite at you continuing to argue over something that clearly has you upset because I don't like the same games as you, but your comment was literally to ignore the bad parts of a game to enjoy it, and while there is some merit to applying that philosophy when it comes to personal tastes, in general you shouldn't have to do that to enjoy a game. My comment on the visuals was furthering the conversation and particle effects != lens flare. Everything in that game is obscenely shiny and an eyesore to look at for any length of time.

EDIT: Like I don't think you realize that your vitriol is completely unwarranted aside from me taking a couple jabs at you. A guy came in here like "Hey I don't really like Mass Effect so far, am I gonna like 2 or 3?" He ASKED for opinions, I gave him my impression of the differences between the 3 games and all you did was go "LOL UR WRONG." There are people who play games for...wait for it... The game play! Which, arguably, is the entire point of playing a game. If you can't understand that people have different focuses when it comes to games then please stop talking. I'm not being closed-minded here, you are. If you want to play SO4 for the story or characters, it's a shit game and you'll have a terrible time. If you want to play it for the gameplay, it's fun and you'll have a good time.

What about that is hard to understand? That it's fun if you ignore the story and characters? How is that wrong if all you want to do is play a game? I never mentioned if it was good or bad, just fun. You know, the thing you have when you play games. Yeah, my point is that if you ignore the bad stuff (which is just shitty icing on the cake) and focus on what they do right (which is the gameplay), you'll have fun. That's saying nothing of whether you like the genre or the type of battle system, because if you like SO games you'll have fun with 4. Not as much fun as 3, but that isn't the point here. The only reason I'm saying this over and over again is because I don't believe you'll get it even after all this.
