Late but if you read your computer messages and generally pay attention to all the non main story stuff, you get A LOT more development and understanding of FF8 characters. You can skip all if it since you're forced to go through rinoas and squalls stuff any ways, but FF8 remains one of my favorite for how in depth they went into some things.

EDIT: I'm retarded, didn't mention that this is in TwitchPlaysPokemon.

EDIT: And now he's reading the hate mail on stream. THIS IS GLORIOUS.

EDIT: NOW HE'S GETTING ON SOME RADIO SHOW THAT DOES LIVE COVERAGE OF THE STREAM THIS IS GODDAMN AMAZING.
What the fuck is this radio guy talking about? "Even Skyrim tried to implement features from Minecraft" "Twitch plays Pokémon is the Woodstock of our generation/gaming". I have no interest in this but holy fuck thank you for sharing LOL.

Yeah that definitely added to the immersion factor of the game.

As for Twitch plays pokemon, it's an interesting premise, I'll give it that. Having never played red/blue, I have no idea how far into the main game they are. Would be funny to see something like the original Dragon Quest.

ROFL I know, I really don't care at all about TPP because it's incredibly boring to watch but this little bit of drama just fell across my lap as I had Destiny's stream on in the background, and I was crying at the pseudo-intellectualism coming from that dumbass radio guy.

Plus the hate mail he got while his assassination attempt was happening was just pure bliss.

EDIT: for the radio guy part.

Also the last like 20 messages on his twitter, holy shit rofl: https://twitter.com/Steven_Bonnell

Still playing Toukiden, I wonder how much time I'm gonna want to put into it after ToS HD comes out though.
Should be fun to play Symphonia again since I never actually owned a Gamecube. Was only able to play it with friends.

Reading the subreddit while bored at work is pretty amusing, but I watched like 5 minutes of it and was instantly bored.

Built a PC that's capable enough to run Crysis 3, end up playing old shit my broken toaster could have easily ran instead.

Vita port of La Mulana seems forever in limbo, so I said fuck it and started playing the Steam copy I had for awhile now. Quite enjoying it, although I've no real clue where I should be progressing after the first boss clear, so I've just been unlocking warp points in the meantime and trying to locate maps.

Also trying to get into Dungeon Keeper 1. Not sure if it's my monitor setup, or I need to change some settings, but I have a hell of a hard time picking out sprites from the environments due to overall muddy palettes, and the low resolution of the game. End up using the menu to grab monsters to dump on intruders, assuming I can find said intruders.

Perhaps it wasn't intended to be played with the camera fully zoomed out as I am currently.

Hoping not to derail this thread again... in fact if there was a general thread in the SE thread, I'd just post that in there, but I'll just hope for the best lol
But as I said before, in preparation for FFX HD coming out, (and because I'm taking a little break from reading) I played FF9, now playing FF8. then I'll play through X and X-2 before probably going back to 7.

I played through 8 only once nearly around the time it actually came out and I've always remembered hating it. I've finally gotten out of the early part of the game (just became a SeeD dude and my opinion of it has changed drastically just as my opinion of 9 has. 9 still has imo some of the best story/character (minus the whole Garland and Necros thing they just seemed to toss in there) while the gameplay was not as great as I remember and actually not all that fun, while FF8's combat is pretty fun so far. The story is probably correct in my memory when I say it's retarded, but hey, we'll see.

Read this Let's Play for how comical the actual story is when you really think about it.

https://web.archive.org/web/20111012.../Update%201-1/ also because it's hilarious. Part one is terrible and by a different person, so just start at part 2, as I linked.

Don't get me wrong, I love the story in 8, but there are a lot of questionable decisions made on top of the fact that anything involving time travel is shaky at best.

I know most people don't have PS Vitas, but Tearaway has been one of the most refreshing and interactive experiences I have had in a long time. The music, paper emulation engine, character designs, and story all ooze charm! I haven't played a game like this in quite some time. If you have a Vita and you haven't played it yet, you are really missing out!

Playing Eschalon 3, liking it so far. It's a turn-based indie RPG, two parts DnD, one part Diablo 1 and it sort of looks like old Ultima games. It does a few annoying things for the sake of "being old school" (like having super cryptic quest directions/puzzles), but it's still been a pretty good time so far. On steam, if anyone wants to check it out.

^ Divine magic is pretty broken. Been playing a naked cleric with a club for the first 5 or 6 hours of the game and still not having too much trouble with most mobs, lol.

    Playing P4G.
I really really REALLY had to struggle to get into this game. First 3 and a half hours were awful but it really opened up after that and I'm really beginning to enjoy the game.

I'll also admit that this is a huge reason I started to get into it too lol

The first few hours of that and P3 were really boring, but it opens up a lot once you get past that.

So managed to get my emulator working for PSP. Some games for PSP look pretty awesome when resolution/AA/Post-rendering effects are added. Playing Sol Trigger, and loving it so far (though the fan translation patch is spotty at best)
    Spoiler: show

Gave Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA a shot. Not too bad but certainly no EBA. My timing is horrible and the videos they have playing during the song divert my attention from the symbols.

GF and I ended up buying a decent gaming PC, and since I've never really had a good enough PC for gaming I've been playing a few PC exclusives, and PC versions of games that have better features, like DMC4 with Turbo Mode. Anyway, with Dark Souls 2 coming soon, I wanted to play DkS again, but I already played the shit out of it on PS3 and wasn't sure how into it I'd be. Then I found out about the aggression mod for the PC version. So, before I buy DkS, I remember hearing about it having a really bad slow down issue, and there was a fix that you had to download? Is that still the case with the current version? Also, I was gonna buy it from Steam. Not sure if that makes a difference when it comes to modding.

Modding shouldn't affect slowdown or other issues with vanilla game clients unless the developer patches them. There's still a glitch in Torchlight 2 where you can't advance through a certain point in chapter 2 without having to restart the game whether you have mods or not. Still hasn't been patched and still happens whether you're modding or not.

Not sure what you're talking about with slowdown issues in dark souls. There's some lag in one of the levels, but that's as far as I know about. The major thing for PC dark souls is the resolution fix. And if you want another challenge, try adding the 'Gravelord invasion always on' mod.

Yeah, my bad. I looked it up shortly after posting. DSfix is what I was talking about. Not really sure where I got slowdown issues from. I'll have to try that Gravelord mod too.
