I think we're overdue for a safe pseudo-retro remake sort of thing similar to Sonic Generations.

After having played RE: Revelations, I went ahead and began RE: 6. So far so good, I know what they were tryann to do and I'm ok w/ it. The thing though is that Revelations felt more precise; RE 6 feels so wonky. I guess I need to get used to it.

We got that already. Go play final fantasy dimensions.

Got back into Xillia and wow I forgot how the combat in this game worked fairly quickly.

Tried to play lightning returns but holy fuck I hated it.

Playing dragon age origins instead, first time, enjoying it so far. Have South Park on the way as well as dark souls, so those will be next.

    I'm playing Origins too, finally.

    What class did you go?

Dimensions wasn't bad, just too linear and short for my tastes. It felt like they took players seriously with the nostalgia inspired difficulty, but without the substance we're accustomed too, it's only a mediocre title. Plus, very few people will have the chance to play it since it's a $30 mobile game, even if the price is justified.

I was thinking of something along the lines of what they tried to do with IX. It had a Final Fantasy renaissance feel to it with having 4 party members and that fantasy meets industry setting like in previous gen installments without both environments overpowering each other.

Edit: So it doesn't seem like I'm derailing again, I've really gotten into Torchlight 2 lately since people are upping the quality of their mods. Salan gave Synergies an endgame content rework recently with even more quests and level 105 dungeons to kick your ass if you're caught off guard. The Derinkyu dungeon got scrapped for the easier to manage Ember Steps. Haven't messed with it too much since it's hard as balls, but from what I've seen from gameplay it's a randomly generated series of zones, bridged together by a phase boss that pops a portal upon death. Thankfully it's less glitchy than Derinkyu, and according to Salan, much easier to add more content on the fly. I'll probably give it a whirl when I properly gear my Berserker since I got annihilated by a troll hero in 10 seconds.

Speaking of which, I took Berserker to 100 finally. Not really my playstyle but I can see why so many people were drawn to it. I still prefer mage or ranged DPS/support classes like the Outlander, Ember Mage and cannon based Engineers. But damn, that class is fast as shit. I probably went through the main campaign in less than a week, only playing 2-3 hours a day. Gets pretty gear dependent for endgame, but the skills give you more possibilities than any other class. With all the Berserkers I played with over the years, each build was drastically different from the next.

As far as modded classes go, I'm having a blast with the Dread Pirate. For a class centered around making the pistol + sword combo viable, it's no slouch with dual pistols and fire DPS. In a way, this is what the Outlander should've been since the original 4 classes lacked any pure spike DPS rogue class. Outlander was more like a shaman with a few gun skills peppered in. Haven't messed with any endgame yet with it, but I could probably handle it with all the nasty crowd control you get at early levels.

If anyone wants to play with me, just PM me for details on mod packs. I think most of the bugs with the essentials mod got worked out when it comes to multiplayer, but I'll use an unbinder if need be. Even if you're starting out, no worries since I got a backlog of classes I want to play around with too.

Rogue, I kinda wish I went Mage though. From what I understand rogue gets really good but at the moment it's poop.

    Went Rogue too.

About level 7. It's starting to get slightly better. I can get one of the specializations now, but not sure which to go.

I'm saving mage for another playthrough (HA HA HA I know second playthrough) since I heard it's pretty much easymode.

Got a bit further in Xillia this morning since I was waiting for my car repairs. Anyone want to give me an estimate of how far I'm into the game?

    Spoiler: show
Just got to the point in Jude's where Milla's legs are wrecked like shit and had to fight her over-obsessive wannabe bodyguard.

Speaking of the game, is there a huge difference between Jude/Milla's stories? Or are they the same except from a different character's perspective?

Rogue got annoying for me cause positional gameplay when your tank is mainly AI fails. I never beat the game, but knowing mage is easy mode I'm going to pick that when I decide to give it another shot.

    Playing Second son.

I have to say the checkpoints are awful. I had to reduce the difficulty to easy for first 2 hours until I had a decent upgrade of powers to do serious damage or I'll waste 5 minutes to re-do the missions and doesn't help that my method was Hit+Avoid+Avoid+Hit until the power upgrade.

Got Ground Zero also but took me 40 minutes to finish the main story -________-

Beat FFVIII last night. Story is still as WTF as I remembered and forgot how annoying Odin/Gilgamesh can be If you're trying to farm rare mobs for cards and ingredients. As far as I know they don't spawn during the Pupu "battle" so thank goodness for small favors. I'll probably give IX a try when I finish up the main story on my Dread Pirate in Torchlight 2.

Since I'm a sucker for anything steampunk related, I tried out City of Steam. Not bad for a F2P game and pretty decent in the graphics department for a browser based game. There's settings for both hardcore and casual players where the latter does auto combat for you which makes grinding a bit bearable. The subscription/cash shop system is really something that other FTP games need to follow after since it's entirely not PTW and you can subscribe for more than the bare bones gameplay you get for free. Might revisit it when in between games or something.

Picked up CS:GO and been playing that the past few days in my downtime from Dark Souls 2.

I just went 34/9 in my second competitive match. Game is simple but god damn does it take skill and I'm loving seeing myself get better every minute that I keep playing.

Played MGR for a bit got to the armstrong fight and I couldn't take it anymore, I hate the camera/controls in that game, I feel I don't have control over my character, especially for parrying, the camera rotates by itself all the time and the direction you have to face becomes kind of unpredictable because of that, my scores are a complete roller coaster, it's either S/A's or D's :/

The game is easy enough (on normal at least) to beat it without parrying, but I don't want to cheese it through.

    MGR is a score game.
Its not supposed to be hard, that's why there's repair kits errewhere. Anyway, hope you give it another shot sometime. Camera's definitely not as bad as you make it sound but there are occasionally some camera issues at the edges of the arena so you may want to try to take it to him near the center (there's no advantage to being near the edges anyway)

Know of any good noob friendly servers? I've had this game for over a year, but never touched it outside of training mode.

Jude's story has SO MUCH more of the meat of the story than does her; I was mad at myself for picking her, honestly.
