Ah Einhander. Awesome game.
Ah Einhander. Awesome game.
Lost Odyssey, Fallout3 and trying to get some veteran achievements in World at War before I send it back to gamestop for MW2 credit. Sooooooo frustrating <_<
KOTOR 2 for the PC. Is there a bug or something after you get out combat? I've been stuck and not able to move half the time and have to save and load my game and I'll be able to move again. Seems to be only when I'm a droid.
I know both KOTORs can be pretty buggy on xbox, especially if you play them on 360, so you might want to check on Bioware's site or google for a fix. I had this nasty bug where my copy of KOTOR1 would crash repeatedly on tattoine, had to lose about 8 hours of progress to replay it before it finally worked.
To be honest I never really had problems with Eternal Sonata being too difficult, but I played on PS3 so maybe the difficulty was adjusted maybe? All I know is Viola can make battles trivially easy, if you manually aim with her from far away she does obscene damage (the further you are the more dmg she does it seems). The only suggestion I could make would be to stick with the same group of people more or less, I used Alegretto/Viola/Frederick and Salsa for buffing until I got March to debuff (I think, it's been a while).
edit: Just got to Disc 2 of Shadow Hearts: Covenant with 50 hours logged (I've been grinding a lot) and the more I play this game the more I love it. I'd easily rate this as one of my top 5 favorite RPGs for PS2, the story has so many hilarious moments and it's a lot of fun, kinda hard to believe I'm only halfway through.
Yeah, everyone whose opinion I trust other than Kiarax has told me the game is pretty much garbage, she loves it though... idk.
I really do put a lot of stock in her opinion on games(probably the most of anyone I talk to, but I really never did want to admit that before... hope she doesn't read this), but considering no one else I trust likes it... it's a tough sell!
Kinda pissed me off 'cause it got good reviews with major gaming sites. The game has absolutely nothing to do. It's story, dungeon, story, dungeon, boss, repeat. That's it. No exploration, no extra things to do. It wouldn't be so bad if the story wasn't mediocre and the battle system wasn't atrocious. Oh, and the masochistic dungeons that drag on and on. I like how there was a priest in one town hawking his church, and then you go to the church TO FIND OUT IT'S A FUCKING DUNGEON.
The battle system doesn't allow you to make any mistakes, and you only get a grand total of 5 seconds to 1) think about what you want to do, and 2) move to your enemy and do it (some times I'd waste my turn just because I couldn't see where the fuck the enemy was it started me so far away from them). On top of that, it's completely reliant on guarding, but you have to press a button to guard, which relies on split-second timing. Compared to a normal RPG, you take average damage when you guard. If you miss a guard, bosses (and even some normal mobs) can kill you in 1-2 hits. And then bosses get twice as many turns as you, attack super fast, and you can only carry a small number of items to use in battle.
If I could just grind a few levels out every once in a while so I didn't die so quickly it would be okay, but spending an extra 3-6 hours in every dungeon to level up is just asinine.
You can do knife only runs for most of the Resi games, well, the old PSX ones anyway.
The joke on Nemesis is that you have the Ammo Maker that you never take with you because it eats up space so you leave it in storage.
When you finally have the ammo ingredients you refuse to use them because you have to wait 'til late to make the best ammo, and by the time you've got everything to make said ammo the game is almost done.
On topic: I've been pulled away from Tales of Eternia and curently spending way too many hours on Disgaea on the PSP.
I loved the battle system - The guarding wasn't essential at all, unless you were grossly underlevelled.
I agree completely with the mention of no exploration, you are pretty much limited to following the story and not going anywhere else, but i thought the story was interesting enough to keep me going.
Maybe i was just blinded to that fact that it was the first current-gen (PS3) RPG i'd played, but i really enjoyed the game. Also - Viola is completely broken so if you are having trouble just add her to the party and manual-aim headshots. It's amazing what a difference it makes. One shot from Viola can - alot of the time - out damage a full echo'd skill from any other member - Was pretty fun doing 500'000 damage towards the end of the game just from random head shots from the other side of the battle arena.
Been playing TF2 after a long break. Trying to get back into it.
Either CoD4, W@W or Persona 3. /shrug
Playing Star Ocean: First Departure, I played the DeJap translation of the original years ago but I didn't get very far due to the battle system sucking a big fat one.
But since this one uses SO2's more bearable system, I'm giving it another go!
Farcry 2
Last Remnant
Lost Odyssey
Magic the Gathering
Played Ico and beat it in two sit-ins. Seriously short game, about 8 hours with 2 hours of me getting lost and confused. I think I would have appreciated shadow of the colossus a lot more if I played Ico before it, but oh well. The game was wonderful, it contained no music (except save/death screens), so you're listening to birds/water/wind throughout Ico and Yorda's adventure. One complaint would be Yorda taking so damn long going up and down ladders and then sometimes her AI would glitch and she'd go all the way back up/down again. Now gonna replay kingdom hearts, and then play kingdom hearts 2.
Scenes like that just made you want to stop playing and just look around. I was surprised that the ps2 could pull off something so amazing. I want a next-gen ico 2 now!
still playing the previously mentioned games but due to overdosing on Knights and being somewhat unimpressed with Devil Survivor, I needed another handheld game so I'm playing Suikoden: Tierkris again. I don't think I gave the game a fair shake at first since I was so disappointed that it's not like a real Suikoden, because now that I'm over that I'm liking it. it's no Suikoden II but it's not bad. the plot and characters do seem to have that Suikoden feel to them, which is what I like most about the series anyway. I have no idea how they can make so many unique and interesting characters and still not feel stereotypical or boring for the most part.
