Infinite Undiscovery?
YES. good call.
Started Silent Hill 2, somehow I've never got around playing it, loved the first one back when it was released. I'm enjoying it, it's a bit on the easy side though, even if I'm playing on normal I have plenty of bullets and health drinks.
All this talk about TLR... I bought it a few years back on steam for like $3 but I found the combat system confusing as hell and gave up on it, maybe I should go back to it someday.
IU was great, but felt way too short. Would've loved a sequel.
Like others said, find a decent walkthrough and go through with that. I found TLR a lot more fun to play when I got a clue about what was going on.
IU caught so much flak but it was definitely one of my favourite RPGs last gen. If Tales didn't exist I wouldn't feel bad about calling it my #1. Got overlooked pretty bad thanks to not seeing a PS3 release.
I just decided to try out Wakfu on a whim and I'm pretty sure this game is gonna have it's hooks in me for a while. Satiates my craving for an SRPG and has just about everything I look for in an MMO. I lost hours of my life to gathering and crafting lastnight and somehow enjoyed every minute of it.
Finally finished Ys: Oath in Felghana on normal. Went directly to Time Attack Chester2 on Nightmare, and couldn't even pass first phase. Good game, I see why a fair amount on BG like it.
I also somehow have a copy of Ys Origins even though I never recalled picking it up. So I guess I know what I'm playing next.
Spoiler: show
Just finished Enslaved Last Odyssey. It was a pretty game to look at, great voice acting, and was a decent little action-adventure game. Made me wish there was a little more variety in the combat/enemies with more challenge to the platforming, but it was still fun.
Surprised there was no one talking about Divinity: Original Sin, that game looks legit. Trying to decide between that and Wasteland 2... oldschool indy games ftw
I just booted up wasteland 2 for the first time. Failure is absolutely brutal in that game.
Divinity lookd cool as well, was just digging the fallout vibe for turn basr rpg
Ok. For those of you that didn't want to drop the money on it but were curious about it. I bought Falling Skies. X-COM is probably one of my top ten games of all time. I figure if it's even half as good I'll be happy with it. The jury is still out. Character visual customization is sorely lacking. Every single person that's a random generated character has either a trucker hat or a beanie. Men and women. The only characters that don't look like Jack Burton are the characters from the series itself. All of which provide their voices to the game. The graphics in general are very dated looking. It looks like a souped up PS2 game. The cover system is pretty bunk. There is a shit ton of high grass everywhere. Instead of making it opaque when your character stands on it, it remains solid. So you can never be 100% sure your character is actually going to take cover. The weapons system, armor, etc is straight X-COM. Which is to say lots of customization.
Right now I'm holding it at a solid 6/10 which could go up or down as I get further in the game. Nothing spectacular but a decent functional X-COM rip off.
After further playing I'm lowering the score to a 4/10. The lack of character customization is pretty bad. Every character looks exactly the same. They used the same voice dialogue for every soldier of the same class. The dialogue is remarkably sparse, I've only heard 3 different lines. The search and destroy missions are an exercise in frustration as the enemy AI never initiates combat. So the only time you fight them is when you can actually find them. Which wouldn't be bad if the boards weren't slightly larger than X-COM's boards. On top of that after 2 - 3 rounds with no activity X-COM would at least have an arrow pop up that gives you a rough idea where the enemies are. Not here. Nothing at all. There is no enemy variation. All of the harnessed humans look exactly the same. Unless higher levels bring about more variances and customization this is nothing but a blatant cash grab that fell face first trying to emulate a proven winner like X-COM but putting their terrible spin on it.
But here's by far and away the worst part. Only one unit class("fighter") is able to use Overwatch.
I read the first sentence of the second post and just went ouch.
I'll read the rest later but damn. Straight downgraded by 20%. That's bunk.
Divinity has an annoyingly outdated inventory problem, especially with the metric ton of shit you can pick up at every step in the game. More than that, though, I really hate how all the NPCs share the exact same interaction text, unless the game deems them important/eligible for side questing. Flavor text is one of my favorite things about PC RPGs and the game's main story is definitely not strong enough on it's own. The combat system is really the main reason to grab this game. Very rewarding and no two battles are ever the same(you'll die a lot lol).
I can see myself taking a long time to finish this, if ever, as I still have to tackle The Witcher 2, FFIV, and more RPG's on the horizon...
After all of that The Last Remnant talk, it's on sale. So if you were on the fence, cough up the $2.50! http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-TLR/the-last-remnant-tm
Nice I'll be grabbing that. I remember playing it on the Xbox360 and it lagging to all hell, should be much better on a PC.
