Were they originally voiced on the PS2? I've only played the 3ds port, but the skits being timed fucked with the pacing of the game for me because they take forever to go through their lines, and there's so many skits. Thank god for Hearts R letting you mash through it at your own reading pace regardless of voice-overs.
As for Castlevania games, all three on the DS were pretty ace, even with the environment repetition in Portrait of Ruin. Doesn't hurt to play Aria of Sorrow on the GBA if you liked Dawn of Sorrow also. The touch stuffed in DoS never really bothered me since only select areas and the boss glyphs (personally never had a problem tracing them) required it.
A shame it took until Ecclesia for them to drop the 'broad appeal' generic anime portraits and return to the look they had prior.
