I saw that on Steam last night. Is it any good?
Also, went back to playing Ys Seven. I love that game's OST so much.
I can't really answer that question for you.
I have wildly different tastes in RPGs than nearly everyone on this site. (small handful of exceptions)
I think the story was dumb because it was all jokes and references but I don't really care much what a game's story is as long as its fun (and it was)
Also, never got tired of this move.

Yeah, we'd need a list of your own personal likes and dislikes and any weird niche RPGs you've come across that you like.
But given your question I'm thinking there's probably nothing on the niche list.
The first one got 45/7.1 on Meta and the remake got 71/7.9. It's popular enough to spawn seven games (ten, if you count the remakes). It is 50% off, so only a $15 gamble.
Once you go nep-nep, you never go back. Waiting on Noire and Neptunia U along with Victory 2.

How's the FPS Chari? I heard that there were some drops that people also complained about on PS3?
FPS on re;birth 1 is much better than HDN on PS3
I'm just asking because I saw some YT video where the guy mentioned experiencing drops that reminded him of the ps3 ver
Uh, I didn't notice any drops at all?
Not to say they don't happen... but if they do I didn't notice it.
I still stand by the fact that the first game was one of the worst games I have ever played in my life. Take it for what you will -- I have a pretty high pain threshold for games.I've heard that the original Neptunia 1 (this is supposed to be a remake of it, right?) had a pretty bad combat system though.
Now, that said, from what Insanecyclone tells me, the others are much improved.
My understanding, having played Fairy Fencer F (which I actually enjoyed) is that the later games have a combat system very similar to it (not sure if this started with MkII or Victory). If that's the case, then the combat will probably be pretty fun, and at some point I may go back and pick them up.
If I had to guess, based on the cult following, the other games are a steady improvement and the combat's probably decent. Has a decent amount of side content too, no?
It actually seems to have more side-content than main-game content, lol
There's a crapload of optional dungeons and events and such.
Also, from what I can tell (having never played Fairy Fencer F) the combat is indeed very similar in Re;Birth 1 and since Re;Birth seems to directly rip the combat right out of Victory, I'd have to say its similar to that too.
My major gripe with this is that while I kinda want to go grab Re;Birth 2 right now but I think they're all gonna have basically the exact same combat with basically no improvements (like Re;Birth appears to be when compared to Victory).
I hope someone who has played 2 can weigh in.
Or maybe I'll just watch some videos, I dunno.
Chari: would I like Nep? I'm guessing that you'd guess yes. Backlog is so massive at the moment.![]()
I'll probably get a bunch of "wtf?" but I am just finishing my first real run through Ocarina of Time. Used to play at friends' houses cause I never had an N64, but never played the whole way through on a single file. Got it for 3DS after the console price drop and never finished going through it. Did pretty well, got 91 Skulltula and only missing 5 heart pieces.
Next is either Tales of the Abyss or Majora's Mask when I get that next week.
Its actually hard to say. There's a bunch of stuff to 'put up with'. If you can push through the annoying things and just enjoy the battle mechanics I think you'll be fine.
Also, its kinda easy to form a dominant strategy and plow through the rest of the game after a certain point but I expected this since its a turn-based RPG and I've seen no exceptions to that in the genre.
Its sad because the beginning of the game is balls hard (assuming you don't grind) and I was hoping the game would have a return to form near the end but it never happened.
