This is why I love you, brother from another mother.
I'm pretty sure I've gushed about ToD2 on BG a number of times. Both of them.
JP ToD2 is literally my favorite video game and Tales of Eternia (Tales of Destiny II US) is in my top 3 Tales of.

Tales of Graces f.. it's so fuckin nice, I really prefer it over Xillia, call me crazy.
You're crazy
Well I took out all the dragons in Bravely Default the cheap with with Utsusemi, and not Vampire Castle is kicking my ass due to all the confusion/charm spam.
Wow nice to see some one showing love for Eternia. I played that game when I was 12 an entire summer around when it released. Didn't have internet to look up the insane puzzles and side quests , was one of the best vidya experiences ever. The only thing I didn't do was fight Dhaos and Regulus.
I did think the characters in Eternia were kinda boring compared to others, but the game itself was freaking amazing once I sat down with it.
Speaking of Eternia, Assbel looks exactly like Reid.
Also, replaying Atelier Totori Plus; I got decently far along and got to a part where I saw a very sad scene. Not afraid to admit I cried bitch tears along with Totori but I went ahead and forced the bad end after I forgot to save and put my VITA in standby aaaaand ended up rebooting it for some unrelated reason without going back into the app and remembering to save. I figured I'll just do a better save overall this time (since shit was really starting to kick my ass there anyway)
After reaching that snow village, even though the world map music didn't change at all... its just something more for me now. Absolutely love it.
After playing Graces f I've been trying to play Xillia, I really have been, but I just can't get into it. I dunno what it is, whether it's lack of emotions from the characters, uninteresting story, or whatever, but so far I'm a few hours in and I'm just bored out of my mind, whereas in Graces f the whole child arc felt a bit slow but then got a kick right in the face and having the background of the characters are children made for a much more fascinating storyline in the present arc, or so I think.
You'd think the tight and fast gameplay, a story revolving around Maxwell would be at the top of the list, right? I really don't know exactly why either, but graces f is a fuckin blast.
I also thoroughly enjoyed Graces F. The child arc definitely made me more attached to the characters right away compared to Xillia because I had some backstory to who the adult characters were and their motivation. Xillia took me a while to get into. Luckily I played Xillia as my first tales game and my friend convinced me that the series was worth it.
A game that was literally about the power of friendship and with one of the most shallow combat systems in the series was this popular with BGers? I'm... genuinely shocked.
And still better than Legendia! I'm just comparing to Xillia since its the only other tales game im currently playing on PS3.
Anyway, I think after I finish my re-play of Totori I'm gonna play Hearts R again. All this Tales talk makes me want to run through one again and this is probably the most replayable of the recent games and my god, there's so many combo possibilities in this game.
(That Beryl combo near the beginning is sick)
As a whole I preferred Xillia more. Xillia's combat is superior and I liked the characters more. Xillia's story didn't really pick up for me till the barrier broke. Once I got to that point, I really started enjoying it more.
I don't really play tales games for the story. Although, I've only played xillia, xillia 2, graces f, and hearts r. I have vesperia on Xbox but I'm sure any day now the ps3 release will get localized.

Xillia is easily the better game but there's something about Graces combat that I wouldn't mind seeing more of. It's definitely a change from usual Tales battles and definitely a battle system I see working better for something like Star Ocean.
Something about Graces was missing that classic Tales feel, but I did like the battle system.
Yeah. I don't have a modded or even moddable ps3 to use the fan translation.
