Finally got my HDTV fixed and started Resident Evil 5 again...oh boy, what an awesome game!
Finished it 3times so far, 2 times on Normal and once on Veteran difficulty. Unlocked S&W M500 badassness and other stuff like Gatling Gun & Longbow(what a disappointment!).
Going for Professional difficulty now, on Chapter 3 and I can say that this won't be easy haha.
Everything basically 1-shots you to dying phase, which only lasts 2 seconds-_-
Nice idea indeed, except I am playing as Sheva!
It'd be awesome if Longbow had a laser sight....
...well, I guess it wouldn't be that awesome.
I enjoyed RE5, but after recently playing it as well I can understand why a lot of people didn't. I got startled once throughout the entire game (motherfucking licker through the glass), whereas in previous installments I was pissing my pants. Now I'm just trying to get the achievements before sending it back to Gamefly, ended up using the rotten egg glitch for money, completely updated all weapons and I'll start my veteran and professional playthroughs soon while trying to get the BSAA emblems.
I think RE5 is much better as a 2 player game, but if you just look at the single player RE4 is better? At least that's how it felt to me. For me I really loved the whole briefcase/treasure combining system, and the merchant, I kinda missed those in RE5.
glad you're liking FFVI... it's awesome. if you have the patience, level your characters up with esper bonuses - it's so fun doing 9999 damage with first-level spells - but that takes a lot of patience and probably isn't worthwhile on the first run-through.
I'm still playing Ratchet & Clank, almost at the end. I think this is as far as I got last time and I'm feeling defeated by the amount of bolts it will take to get the R.Y.N.O. I hear it makes the final boss loads easier, but is he doable without it? because I just got enough bolts for the claw or the final health upgrade (haven't decided which to get) which is only 1/5 of the bolts for the R.Y.N.O.
also playing Wild Arms, I have no fucking clue why. such a horrible game. awful story progression, cliche characters, awkward dialogue, horrible in-battle graphics, mundane uninspired battle system for the most part. yet I love it. maybe it's the charm of the 2d graphics, maybe it's the puzzles, maybe it's the freedom of the spell crafting system. I'm really not sure.
been playing tons of Puyo Puyo 15th Anniversary for DS too, getting better at it. I'm normally not a puzzle gamer but I'm addicted to this.
last but not least, I'm playing Breath of Fire II GBA on the bus when I don't feel like Puyo Puyo. but it's more of a random distraction than a game I'm actually focusing on at the moment.
There are actually a few really good puzzle games for DS among the sea of crap. I used to be a huge fan of the genre, then for a while all I owned was Tetris DS which is still like... my 2nd favorite DS game ever.
You should try out Warioware: Touched if you haven't, that goes for everyone with a DS. Such a cool game, so many little microgames to play, and a huge number of unlockables. There's a deceptively large amount of content in WW, enough that you won't get bored with it easily, and with each game lasting only 3-5 seconds it's pretty much the ultimate in pick-up-and-play. Despite being a big RPG fan it continues to be my favorite game on DS, by far.
In terms of puzzle games for DS I actually like Meteos Disney Magic more than regular Meteos because it allows you to move blocks horizontally. Other than that Planet Puzzle League is decent, Neves is pretty cool, and Honeycomb Beat is worth checking out if you liked Lights Out. I've heard a lot of good stuff about Soul Bubbles, too.
Switching between FFXI and Rock Band 2 right now, I have a copy of SMT Nocturne that I got at a pawn shop for $5 that I should start up soon
NCAA 10 and FN 4 mostly.
Finished kingdom hearts II last night. I really didn't like it that much compared to the first. I swear there is a cut scene whenever you enter a new screen, and they could have done a lot better with the world's maps. I loved the final boss fights though, the last one was ridiculously hard for me, but I love those kind of bosses. Now i'm gonna play star ocean 2 and 3. Maybe 4 if I hack my 360... Is star ocean 1 any good? Was it ever released to USA?
star ocean 1 was only released in the US on PSP, see the girl in my avatar? she's from SO, lol
It really is god awful, but I've got myself playing it here and there randomly for nostalgia. lol The whole mystery/random sword technique thing is fun, but even during the PS1 era I remember being really underwhelmed by the graphics. I blame the sound track for reeeeling me back in; the intro theme is friggin gewd.
I am addicted to the SO opening ever since playing it... something about it really draws me in.

Spoiler: show
I remember going ape shit over Wild Arms because it was pretty much the first "3D" RPG on PS1; came out the summer before FF7.
Coincidentally, I just finished Wild Arms 3 (had it for about 6 years and never could keep my interest in it due to MMOGs) and am playing WA5 now. WA5 is pretty impressive for a PS2 game, IMO. The game runs at 60fps everywhere except the world map, and the texture quality isn't sacrificed as bad as in, say, Suikoden V. Looks even better with PS3's "smoothing" option. I only hate how so many PS2 games use that "full screen blur" effect to fake anti-aliasing. Looks like crap on an HDTV.
I also discovered I own Grandia 2 and Legaia 2. I have absolutely no recollection of those two games.... Should I bother with them? I've still got Crimson Gem Saga and Star Ocean 1 and 2 on PSP to work on.
Grandia2 isn't a half-bad game, story is a bit predictable at parts, but meh.
I'm still plugging through Eternal Sonata, just beat that damned pirate bitch after 6 tries because of how cheap she is with two-shotting my party members just because she runs behind them first, disallowing me to block.
I have to say it complements Dead Space nicely for me. Usually goes about 2 hours of Eternal Sonata, then swap over for one chapter of Dead Space. Enjoying them both, but I still want my fucking copy of Blazblue to get in stock so I can quit bitching about it in the official thread for that.
just noticed this grammar error in so2. I hate it when people make this mistake lol.
edit: uhhh actually after reading the sentence again it's fine >.>. I read, "Stop, you are joking!" in my mind, not "Stop (no pause) your joking!".
I don't see any grammar error. I'm guessing "Stop your joking?" That is the correct usage. If it was supposed to be "you're," then there would have to be a pause after "stop" (EG: "Stop. You're joking!") She's telling him to stop his joking around.
It's not the best form to choose, but it's not incorrect.
been playing the fuck out of Heroes of Newerth...
it's alot of fun, but really unbalanced at times
