For me it was how big/interesting each zone in the game was. I just don't think I could relive that magic coming back.

I loved the attention to detail some of the zones had...

I have to admit, the Rhapsodies were REALLY fun to play.
I really want to come back for that. And hopefully Seekrs of What-cha-ma-call-it has some good zones.
Oh yeah seekers is nice just be prepared to hear this 24/7 while you afk there
That second one is pretty nice.
You've said that multiple times, I mean.. if you have the cash why not just spend 12.95 and play it? It's not like its a lot of money and you don't have to stay subbed. You could probably do a lot in a single month worth of that money if you have some free time (1hr a day or so.) I can say I've had a bunch of friends return to the game recently who all quit and cursed FFXI's name when they left. A bunch of them quit again (some are still here) but they didn't regret spending a month or two worth of monthly fee to play as I noticed they were online a lot. You will for sure get some fun out of it if you have been gone a long time and enjoy FFXI's systems (gear swapping, battle content etc.) I will say that you will most likely quit again based on prior experience and how most who tend to quit don't really feel the same playing it again. Even if it's matter of time before you quit, I'm sure you could enjoy the time you spent playing it (it's a game after all, you don't have to play the same game forever and you can play others if one gets boring.) That said, I do believe a free period is coming so you could probably get a taste for it then.
IMO, FFXI private servers are garbage, just complete trash. You won't ever get that old school feel/experience back ever again. The main thing missing there is the big community that came with it. They have so many things missing I don't see how people even enjoy them. I used to play on private servers for games like Ragnarok Online but they had almost the entire game there in addition to new things they created, the FFXI ones are all bare with barely anything from the original game that is functional.
I didn't even know they had a sale until I saw this post, thanks. I managed to grab a bunch for PS3 that they apparently did in HD.
Dusted off my PS3 and bought Resident Evil 2, 3, and Code Veronica X for under $8 on PSN's RE anniversary sale. Those old, clunky controls make me miss RE4, but the classics are still fun to play.
Eh, maybe if the free week in April happens I'll consider it.
What's Corsair like now?
I feel like wanting to return to XIV, esp when I hear the new music each update (really digging 3.0 soundtrack, esp Alexander music), but then I remember the disappointment in endgame being a rehash of 2.0 and lack of good midgame content and the game feeling like a chore with more mindless story filler. Thinking i'll probably return when 4.0 hits so I can go through all of heavensward as a whole and finish the actual story of 3.0.
Playing RE Revelations 2, enjoying it so far. I like how the shots are more impactful, a shot to the head kills shit etc. What did they do to Claire's face though.. lol.
Anyone got any Vita/3DS games they can recommend for a long trip? 13 hour plane rides and a 5hr layover somewhere and a 5hr train ride.
Bonus: Games that the woman would like too, she loves mario on 3ds but is fucking terrible and has trouble figuring out how to run AND jump simultaneously lol.
3DS: Mario Golf and Final Fantasy Theatrythm
Vita: It has a lot of visual novels that you can read together.
Picked up FF8 on steam during their recent SE sale and of course modded the hell out of it.
Twilight Princess HD. Still one of my favorite Zelda games. However, they seem to have REALLY messed up Epona's controls in this and I'm not really sure how that happened or if they would even bother fixing it.
Galak-Z on PS4, free in the store this month. Takes a couple hours to get the controls down but one of the most authentic feeling mech games I've played since Zone of the Enders 2. It's kind of a rogue-lite arcade shooter but pretty high in terms of difficulty. The aesthetic is great even if the actual art assets are super cheap. Hero guy's banter is the cherry on top.
Nearing the end of Tales of Zestiria. Mixed feelings on the game as a whole. Pace is awkward, equipment system is atrocious on first playthrough, a couple characters feel completely pointless, and there is a fuckload of copy and paste dungeons. But on the flip side the party banter is good, the combat system is serviceable (if too over complicated for its own good), and I can't deny the technical praise of basically allowing choice of 10 characters at will in combat.
In many ways I would compare a lot of my critiques of ToZ to one of my all-time favorites (but only years after I first played it), Star Ocean 3.
Playing Black Desert Online. Its been a loooooong time since a MMO made me feel the wonder and excitement of exploration, questing and misc activities. Really loving this game.
So I just started playing Super Mario 3D Land for the first time on my N3DS and omg.... amazing. I only played 1 level and I know this is going to be a great game... MOAR!!!
Also playing Pokemon Red/Blue. Was looking yesterday for a Pikachu in Viridian and once you catch one they all come out of the woodwork. Yup this is an exact copy of the originals.
Finished the main stories for RE Revelations 2 (enjoyed it) and move onto Digimon World: Next Order. I was enjoying it a lot at first but it had HUGE lag but they just released a 400 mb patch that gave a hard mode, new side quest and stability fix. Completely changed it for me because if they had not done that it would be unplayable imo lol. Loving all the nods to the original Digimon World game including the music they added. Still has pooping but at least if you lose a battle you don't die or whatever. My main issue I have now is I lose a battle or two and my digimon get sick and I have no idea where to even heal that status outside of buying the band-aids lol.
Pokemon Sweet version.
Best Pokemon version ever.
