In the middle of Chapter 1 of Trails in the Sky. The scene with Oliver was too good. Liking the direction of the story so far, and the way you are also growing as a bracer the entire time, leveling up and doing all these quests while exploring the world. Is there some sort of alien invasion going on in this game? Most of the enemies and quests involve killing these abominations. I know I am only at the start of the game, but it's still going. Easily the most bizarre enemy designs I have seen since Ys VI. It's like they took all the rejected sprites from Ys VI and said, fuck it, these will be the enemies for our new upcoming game.
Minor complaint aside, the battle system is very fun considering it's age, and love how each character pretty much has limit breaks on top of making solid magic builds and the other unique skills. It can be difficult at times, but just enough to keep you wanting to come back to win. I am looking forward to finishing this up.
Question, does your save data carry over in SC? I've seen some pretty high levels in some trailer videos, and the leveling so far in this game is slow, so it doesn't sound out of reason.
Reason I have been taking it slow is because I am also playing FFXIII on Steam, cranked and it looks like a current gen game almost. I didn't give this game a fair shake back when it came out, and stopped playing after Chapter 6. The story is pretty ridiculous but in a so bad, it's good kinda way. The 3 day time span this game takes place in doesn't help with the crack like speed it's story pacing goes at. But thankfully the gameplay can be decent at times, at least once you get 3 people at all times which took until Chapter 9. Complaints aside, they almost made Snow likable and I thought that was impossible from what I saw at the beginning, but everyone is slowly developing in to decent characters and I am starting to root for them to win, but I already heard that the story in this trilogy is pants on head retarded, so my hopes aren't set very high lol. Just enjoying the show.
The story will come full circle at the end of FC.
And yes/no to save data. Your junior bracer data is carried over. I think your levels too if they're above 40 or 50.
Estelle carries over. Under 35, she starts at 35. Over 40, she starts at 40. Bracer rank 3 and above gives an items every level. Bonus item for perfect BP.
I enjoyed TiTs FC a lot but I couldn't get into SC, the more the story went on, the less I liked it, and the fact that the maps are exactly the same as FC didn't help either, if you played FC there's almost zero exploration to be done since you already spent 50 hours on the very same maps in the previous game. In the end I didn't even finish it.
Yeah I can imagine playing one after another to be quite a tiring experience.
I played them both on launch date, so it was actually like 15 months apart.
Oh, well I played the first one on PSP then the second one some time after it was released on PC so the break was a lot longer and still felt a little annoyed by the fact that I'm just backtracking through the same places.
I didn't forget about this game! I am in the final chapter now for Trails in the Sky and I noticed that this game has a lot to do with deception and people not being who the fuck they say they are... it's getting kind of annoying and old by this chapter but I hope this actually leads to a great turn around.. plot wise. Battles have gotten more difficult thankfully and customization a lot more deeper.
Are you playing the first game or the second?
First. Also Zane the monk is hilariously huge, arguably more gigantic than Dogi.
Would have loved if they had Adol and Dogi as extra or secret characters for shits and giggles. They are definitely not shy about crossovers.
Ah.
Yeah the first game is pretty much just the tip of the iceberg. The second game is where the story really unfolds.
Wow, in that case... will probably start it up immediately. I heard of the notorious cliff hanger.
Trying to finish TiTs today. About to fight the last battle in the big Grancel competition against Lorrance and his goons. Any idea why such a big tourny is taking place on a fucking soccer field? Music sure doesn't help. Lol but glad it's about to be over.
I wish I hadn't stayed up this late to finish Trails in the Sky FC. I have to work in 4 hours and can't sleep because of the ending, and goddamn that was just... painful.
I started SC up and holy shit does it not let down at the beginning. I was going to put this on hold, but I am more motivated than ever now. It's insane too because I found myself mostly annoyed by Estelle throughout FC but when you get to the end, you really can't help but feel for her.
So when are we renaming the thread to the Trials in the Sky thread?
Dead Rising 4 hype has made me want to replay 2. Or, more accurately, replay 1, but my 360 has been broken for about 5 years so I'll settle for 2. Not sure how many times I've run through 2 and I just today learned that you can tame the goddamn tiger (and give it to your daughter as a present, wut).
Dragon Quest VI for my DS.
I had been playing Star Ocean 3 (wanted to beat 3 and 4 before my copy of 5 arrives) but game keeps freezing. May be one of the titles that's not 100% compatible with the PS3.
Downloaded demo for Grand Kingdom. I don't remember the last time I instantly fell in love with a game within the first 5 minutes. The design aesthetic is S+ tier and the combat is fresh and interesting. Instant buy, and I am a hardass for waiting for games to go on sale saying that. I'm surprised that this actually WASN'T developed by NIS or Vanillaware (though NIS America published it) because the resemblance is pretty striking (in that it looks gorgeous like Vanillaware but seems to have stat porn like Disgaea-lite).
Only thing is that you really need to see it in motion. I thought the screenshots made it look awful.
Trying to play PS2 emulated games on my PC but fuck me this DS3 isn't playing nice with my laptop. Sometimes I wish this shit would just work.... wish I still had my PS2 controller :/
Edit*
DS4 ftw!
