Finally finished Ys Seven after a multi-month break from it. I have mixed feelings on the game. First half was great, well tuned for the default difficulty. Then the second half of the game felt like a case of "Oops, we budgeted everything for the first half of the game" with mandatory backtracking, simpler environments, and the game getting rather easy at that point. Combat also eventually devolved to doing charged attacks only to build meter and mashing your skills which I'm not sure jived too well for me.
Perhaps I should have played on hard or something. By the time I finished farming for the ultimate weapons/armor I wanted, I was ridiculously overleveled for the final boss. Ah well, by and far the longest Ys game I've played, not sure if I want to start Origins or Celceta next in the series.
I did pick up MGS5 Definitive though during Xmas sales. As much as I dislike giving Konami money, I'm a sucker for 'includes everything' packages, and I'm really digging the first few missions of Phantom Pain I've done. Not sure if I can be arsed to 100% Ground Zeroes, unless I can transfer that completion at any time I want to Phantom Pain and do it later.
100% GZ is not necessary but try to get the special recruit from one of the side missions. I think he's useful early on iirc.
I think you're better off waiting for Nier: Automata @Corr
You could always tried picking up the HD revamps of Kingdom Hearts if you got a PS4 laying around.
Bloodborne also, while still in the same ballpark as main Souls, is generally a lot more empowering to the player and less "fuck you, have a death"-friendly. Almost 2 years old now as well so it will be relatively inexpensive. Online community in it is still relatively active too.
Just started playing doom. To be more precise I just started again from the beginning because of a corrupt save file. Yay.
Honestly I thought I would get bored of just killing demons over and over but it hasn't gotten old yet. The 2nd play through I am forced to take I am doing on the hardest difficult that's available at the start, and I am trying to explore the entire map in each level. Figure if I have to restart at the beginning I might as well try to find everything. Love the secret rooms you can open up that have parts from the older doom games.
Just when I thought I had seen all the animations for bashing demons I pick up some berserk gloves and ran up to a hell knight(one of the hulk demons that melee) and literally ripped his head off his body. This game is just fuckin brutal man. It would be perfect if not for this save game corruption issue, unfortunately I hear it is pretty common.
Binged on SRW OG 2nd since there's a full translation out and wanted to finish it before I started on Moon Dwellers.
Up to stage 50 or so now.
..I liked the look of the Ashe rather than the Exbein, but now taking a break from that.
Trying to decide if I should resume Brotrip 15 or work on finishing some shorter titles; is Gravity Rush remastered doable in a day or 2? Figure if I can finish that and Happy Souls II (at the point where I just got the Ashen heart) then this break would have been successful.
10 hours or so.

Been burned out with Overwatch so started to go through my steam backlog and picked up the first 2 Shantae games on Steam. Surprisingly simple, yet addictive.
+1 to Shantae. I just finished playing through Half-Genie Hero and Pirate's Curse myself (the latter is currently a dollar in the latest humble bundle). As someone who missed the boat on old school metroidvania games, they're cute and fun without being overwhelmingly difficult or technical. I wish they were longer, but for the price I shouldn't complain.
I'm annoyed by Pirate's Curse. The game's mechanically better than Half Genie Hero but fuck the knockback from damage and how many mobs there are.
Also the game isn't as intuitive where to go.
The difficulty does seem to spike at the last 2 islands. Bog is just an enemy clusterf*ck and Tundra has wolves which take a heart and half/hit.
Well I got them beat now to find the rest of the dark magic.
Finished Star Ocean 5.
Working on Dark Souls II and just..losing steam. At the part where I have to visit the giant's memories, but trying to do some of the DLC.
Might just say eh and go and finish the game, screw the DLC for now. Did bits of the other two. Liked what I played, but kinda ready for it to be over. Was good to get back into the flow of a Souls game, though.
Told myself I'd make myself finish SO5, Gravity Rush Remastered (both of those done) and Souls before I bought anything else.
DLC is the best part of Dark Souls 2. Skip finishing the game and just complete the DLC.
There are times where I do feel that way, but I don't want to get sucked in anymore.
Because there are SO MANY WEAPONS AND I WANT TO USE THEM ALL.
Maxed ones are a Red Iron Twinblade, Grand Lance, Mace, and Fire Longsword.
Was rocking Veldstat's set for armor, but fashion souls won and now using Drakeblood set.
But seriously, I have a love hate relationship with the DLC. Liked the one with the..Sanctum City. Then I got to the queen. "Hey, let's summon Veldstat clone 4 times in a row."
