I've heard that Onion Helms/Gloves (and shields?) are pretty worthless once you max your stats and hit 99, is this true? Not that Ribbons and Crystal Rings are any easier to farm, but I'm still on my 2nd playthrough and I'd rather not farm things I don't have to.

Already have Bomb/Mindflayer, still need Goblin/Cockatrice, and I've gotten 15 rainbow puddings in the course of farming pink tails, so I don't have to worry about that lol.

I'll probably want to farm an Artemis Bow, a Dragon Whisker, and a Wyvern Lance on playthrough number 3, to wrap up dragon farming and for completion's sake. That is, if my patience holds out. We'll see!

Also I took a break and played Fallout 3: Mothership Zeta today, pretty fun I guess, although a bit repetitive. Kinda makes me sad that all the content is done, but alas.
Essentially most of the Onion gear is pretty useless. The shields are great. The swords are pretty epic at endgame but only moderately useful throughout. Adaman x5 is fine armor wise. Stacking Adaman with Cursed Rings is great for elemental bosses. Crystal Rings and Protect Rings are good otherwise. On my last playthrough I'll probably farm Ribbons.

I have 2 Adaman armors so far but I fucked up and tossed my Crystal Mail so I'll probably just farm the last 3 on play #2.

Good to hear, I'm up to:

    5/1064 Pink Tail (adamant armor)
    2/446 Blue Tail (shield)
1/112 Red Tail (sword), I'll farm the last one while I steal crystal rings on my 3rd playthrough

I also went ahead and got:
    1/16 Mindflayer
    1/58 Goblin
and Bomb while going through the story, farming Cockatrice now.

So just the 3rd playthrough stuff like ribbons/crystal rings/cursed rings basically, yay.

congrats, you're getting close to the end of FFIV... what's next? or should I decide for you

sweet, just ordered DDS2 on amazon. less than $40 with shipping for a game that used to be rare and expensive is awesome. I don't like the new box art but getting the old edition would not be worth $100 or whatever. I'm buying it for the gameplay and even moreso for the fucking fantastic story and characters, anyway. one of the best stories ever, no surprise coming from the SMT series.

now I have to finish DDS1 so I can replay it and make sure I do it right to get all the goodies. except beating Hitoshura. I've read up on that shit and, no thanks. the ring isn't worth it lol.

how does DDS1/2 compare to nocturne? I know you're a nocturne fan, so I'm guessing you like that one more? My main problem with Nocturne was that if the main char died it was all over, which apparently DDS fixed.

they are both good, different games. DDS has a lot larger cast, they both have good stories but DDS is extremely linear whereas Nocturne is much more open-ended, both in actual gameplay and in story progression. DDS only has one ending that I'm aware of, Nocturne has six.

gameplay-wise, Nocturne is definitely harder, although I played Nocturne on Hard Mode the first time through, so that obviously had an effect on my opinion lol. both games basically boil down to "figure out the enemy's weakness, then exploit it."

the main difference is that Nocturne is all about constantly capturing new demons, upgrading them, fusing them, etc. your roster is constantly changing and if you don't put the effort forth to get the right demons for each new area/boss, you're going to fall behind quickly. DDS, on the other hand, sticks you with 5 characters for basically the whole game, all of whom you can advance any way you like by teaching them different skills. so it's a lot less complicated when it comes to maintaining a viable fighting team. and yes, the main character can die without the battle being over. retreating is also a lot easier, though it can still backfire.

overall DDS is easier than Nocturne on Hard, but still really tough compared to most RPGs.

Should I be glad that I've never played that? I, for some reason, feel glad that I've never played that.

lol, can't wait. There has already been a few where I've had to just completely restart battles after mis-marking units to fight or not being able to keep up with the onslaught of the friggin soul crystal stages. lol

that is fucking awesome. although I'm wondering how he gets it flying in a half-circle behind him in some shots. I'm not talking about the moments where he throws it then super-jumps and it trails behind him, but when he's actually standing on the ground throwing it and it pops up behind him out of nowhere in a big arc. never seen it do that on any of my playthroughs.

anyway, this is just another example of why SotN is still the best Castlevania game ever. I wonder if people will ever stop discovering awesome shit about this game.

Beat ace combat 5, and like all the other aces, I loved the music and missions.

I rented Legends of Wrestlemania from Gamefly. As I grew up in the 80's the nostalgia was fun for the first hour or two. The controls aren't all that great.

However, it has to be one of the easiest Platinums to get. I've played it off and on for 3 days and should get the trophies finished after another few matches tonight.

Back, forward + Circle or Square does a longer distance throw for weapons like that. You get extra hangitme and can do just about anything. If you didn't get the Heaven Sword so late in the game, and you didn't need 2 of them, they could be the most fun to use weapons in the game. (next to a fully upgraded Murasame of course)

I haven't played this in so long, I forgot all about where to go and the boss patterns I had memorized. Still fun as hell, and managed to find a damn Dracula Tunic by mistake thanks to a clear save I already had. I think I'll go for a 200% completion with Richter after I get done just for the hell of it.

    Yume Nikki (PC)

Was just in that Mother tribute area but I got off my damn bike after using the speed boost secret with the bike and it slowed her down a LOT. So I just gave up exploring after running into the same places I was, hit 9 to pinch cheek and saved until I get more weed because it's really the best way to play IMO.

    Fallout 3 (PC)

Last time I played I killed the Super Mutant Behemoth. I could not find that damn gun my friend told me about though, so I had to kill him with grenades, land mines, and the laser gun. LOL, he killed so many paladins in the middle of me taking forever to bring him down.

    Lunar 2 (ps1)

I just beat Lunn in the Tournament of Death wiht Jean and she is now fucking badass kung fu mode. I really forgot how much this game ruled. Ugh, I think I have to fight Borgan soon, I always dread that fight.

I got my 360 firmware hacks working so I'll be continuing my play through tales of vesperia. It's a little cut scene heavy but what RPG now a days isn't? Does the game open up a lot more later on? I love doing a bunch of side quests to get awesome armor and weapons.
