Your Eval level suffers if you don't send stuff back to Odin (which can affect the A ending), but there are some items worth keeping. (EG: a sword you can use to one-shot a certain boss in the last dungeon; some stuff that transmutes into great items, etc.) I found a PDF walkthrough from vhayste (think I got it off IGN) that has recommendations on sending/keeping artifacts in case you want to look at that.
For Valkyrie Profile, for your first playthrough, seriously, just play it normally without guides and go with whatever ending the game gives you, there's just too much shit to keep track of on your first go to ensure you'll get the good ending, which in my boots would ruin the fun of playing the game.
If you still got the urge to play through it again after beating it (and deal with each and every single one of those unskippable 10-20 minute tragic death scenes), then use a guide to see what specifically you need to get the best ending, and the OP shit so you can deal with the Seraphic Gate.
I guess for now I'll just start taking all the items lol. I guess I'll see how I feel once I finish before I decide if I'll go for a better ending. Ooh and yes I would like to see that pdf please Palom :D
got back into Lufia II, I forgot how hard this game is at certain points. it's getting easier now that I've got more party members, but I still avoid pretty much any enemies I can that don't have an elemental weakness. some of these random battles can take forever, and the enemies do decent damage. and man, the beginning of the game is brutal - that Catfish boss can easily take you out in two hits if you're not overleveled, meaning it becomes a game of "he attacks, I heal, he attacks, I heal again, he attacks again, I heal again," over and over.
also playing Alundra, on Meia's dream, I said it before and I'll say it again: I can't remember the last time I swore this much at a game. stupid fucking puzzle involving flying blocks and two levers you have to pull to get them to land just right to form a staircase that's almost impossible to get right and you have to do it twice in a row or start over ARGH. to be fair, this is quite possibly the worst puzzle in the game, and most aren't nearly as bad. but damn, fuck this shit. fuck it hard... worst part is, I finally gave up and swore off the game, but I'll be playing it again in half an hour. I cannot rest until I beat this stupid puzzle.
edit: of course I beat the puzzle as soon as I started the game back up. fuck you, floating blocks!
bump because I just found out the Mystic Ark translation has been released. I don't know the whole story but supposedly it's a psuedo-sequel to 7th Saga (but don't call it 7th Saga 2 unless you want a bunch of pissed-off fans on your tail).
I might check it out, I have a lot of games to play but it seems interesting. translation is good but from the screenshots, doesn't seem to be as polished as some of AGTP's previous work. that's not to say it's bad, just not Working Designs-level near-perfection.

Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword
Ninja Gaiden and DS? That avoided me from buying it when it came out but I bought it for 10$ and shit it was worth it.
Ninja Gaiden DS was fantastic. Would definitely recommend it to anyone with a DS.
playing Soma Bringer, finally reached rank 4 so I can ditch Granada. nothing against her, I'm just sick of needing her for Meditation (not to mention that sometimes she waits forever to use it for no apparent reason). being able to regenerate my own SP is fantastic, since I'm playing a Soma. I already diverted 20 points into Land Force.
also playing Okami, obviously, if you've read my thread. fucking love it.
playing Mario & Luigi 3, the random freeze-ups are really starting to annoy me. I might actually buy a copy, it'd be the first DS game I paid for since I bought my Cyclo. we'll see, I'm going to try and keep plowing through. it just sucks since the only really good way to avoid the problem is to save a lot... but saving locks up the game. and I don't know how to real-time save on my Cyclo, the option is grayed out. d'oh.
GTA: SA
FFIV: DS
Rented Little Big Planet but didn't really get into it. Have a few other ps3 games in the queue to try this weekend.
Enable it in options on DS menu then hold uh... select I think when you boot up the game and it'll create the RTS (Real Time Save) file. Only gotta hold it down the first time to create it then just start the game up like normal every other time. Are you using the newest beta firmware? Was supposed to fix M&L3, I did get another crash since I swapped to it, but my friend played it without any problems at all.
thanks for the tips, that'll help me with getting through M&L3. I'm using 1.55, not 1.56b, although I could switch. I think part of the problem is simply the age of my Cyclo, because sometimes when M&L freezes and I reboot my DS, it locks up right away. I guess the contacts aren't in the greatest shape, I used the paper trick but it still has problems.
KH 358/2 Days.
I re-did the cod4 campaign on veteran difficulty. God some parts in that game are just impossibly hard. Beat it, now working on the new-ish prince of persia game and am hating it. Wasn't the whole idea with the series was that you could manipulate time? There was nothing wrong with that, it was fun! Instead you are given a chick that allows you to never die. No penalties for getting thrown off a tower by a boss, or messing up a jump causing you to (normally) fall to your death. The platforming is so easy and simple. You only need to press A or B at certain points and he does all the running and jumping for you. I loved the first two, but this, this just ruined the series.
Heck, you're even given a light trail telling you where to go and how to get there via platforms... Come on...
that one isnt part of the same series....
not supposed to have anything to do with the others
1.56b3 works fine and dandy with M&L3.
Anyways, as for me, been wasting time finishing my 5-year old data for FF8. Bit of a bore as I realized I stopped playing in the middle of the Queen of Cards quest since I was apparently OCD about 100%'ing the Triple Triad card collection. 3 cards left to earn, and they're all via that fucking quest.
Something tells me the rest of the game is going to be a joke though since half of my PT members are all lvl100 with maxed high-end spells for junctioning. My Squall is absolutely indestructible.
I've also been playing at inFamous/Uncharted, getting a single trophy in each to score their platinum, then I need to get back to Dead Space to finish my Insane difficulty run on that for another platinum.
Also been taking my time through Prince of Persia, which I partly blame Kiarax for as I regained an interest in it after discussing some shit about it over IRC.
I'm pretty much done with Katamari Forever, last thing to do in the game is 100% the collection, and for gods sake, fuck that shit. Not bothering with it until there's a guide on full item collection so I don't end up playing random stages endlessly in hope of getting one I need.
Been slowly going through Battlefield: Bad Company also (don't I sure have a lot of games on my plate), and taking a liking to its online play. Something about it I quite like, which is rare since I always prefer FPS online on my PC, perhaps it's the destructable areas that helps, as I could never really get into BF1/2 way back in the day.
Still spamming Baal/Cows on Diablo 2 at least 3 times a week. I think I got one of those glitched charms you used to see a lot of back in the old 1.1 days. The poison damage keeps changing almost every time I log in and at one time was over 900k DPF. I'm thinking about getting rid of it before my account gets damaged or something, but one-shotting Baal is too much fun not to mention productive.
Been running through NHL 10 and tossing in some CoD4 when I get bored. Other than that I've just been playing WoW.
About to start Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth.
After that, I'll problably get back to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Valkyrie Profile...Hopefully by the time I finish those Uncharted will come out.
Then there is FIFA 10, Pro Evo, Tekken 6...man its gonna be a good month.
Waaaay too much Medieval II: Total War. For me the game has mixed the "just one more turn" crack-fiend mantra of Civilization with the chance to command more than 5000 little soldiers into utterly crushing my enemies.
