FFIV(DS) arrived, love the character designs in this game can't wait to start augments and junk.

Also getting around to finishing FFXII equipment and end of story - as if I even remember where I am in the story after all these sidequests - when mw2 isn't taking over my television.

Blazed through Batman recently as well, after picking it up on steam's holiday sale. But with that finished I had to move on to.... tadah!

Picked up Valkyria Chronicles for 20 bucks on gamestop.com and couldn't be happier with it.
Can't say I'm terribly good at it, but feels like it's just what I've been wanting to play for the longest time.

You just saved me 20 dollars as I was about to get Valkyria Chronicles from amazon for 40 dollars. Thank you.

Age of Conan is doing an unlimited trial of 1-20 for tortage.

I've played the trial account thing, on multiple accounts, but never got far because of the 7 day trial.

Aion didn't please me and I'm currently mmo-less right now and may join this, for a while, if I can play it casually and don't have to GRIND GRIND GRIND GRIND HOLY SHIT GRIND.

Picked me up Fallout3:GOTY for PS3 (yay for inferior copy) for $29 new, so I've been enjoying myself basking in the glory of something everyone else finished a year ago.

So far is better than I was expecting, I just hope the dreary wasteland look doesn't grow old, but I haven't been past the first town, so I can't tell how artistic Bethesda went with the environment in terms of making every location unique in some way.

Shame that the DLC isn't just streamed off the disc though. My game file is a massive 6.7gb currently. Kinda wish the game just had an install given my first 30 min of the game was character voices being off-sync with the spoken dialogue due to the disc having to seek to the voice clip while it was busy doing something else.
(not to mention I was reminded of Oblivion w/ add-ons where you start a new game, and the second you exit the starter area, you get spammed with DLC-related quests)

The game gets really engrossing once you start exploring various ruined buildings and doing quests.. I keep trying to get back into playing FFXI but end up getting lost in exploration of the more remote areas in the game. Haven't checked out any of the DLC yet though.

that's all right, thanks for looking. I will probably end up resorting to Amazon, at least for III. II's a bit easier to find. still haven't decided if I'm going to play it or just read the story, but I think I'll at least pick up a copy and try it out. they're so cheap anyway, $4 at ebgames lol.

Yeah, starting to enjoy it a fair bit for the exploration. About 11 hours in, just doing a lot of the side quests after having gotten my power armor training. Game feels like a poor man's FPS with VATS & RPG elements tacked on making it feel like something else, but that's besides the point. Lots to do, lots to explore, and it's not fucking massive to the point like Oblivion where I never finish the damn game because I get lost in the side factions and what not.

Game also feels a lot less pre-fab'd than Oblivion also which was one of my pet peeves with that particular game.
(I was surprised to see how much they improved the engine between the two games though. It doesn't feel like a reskin at all)

Xenosaga was ridiculous with the amount of cutscenes, but still one of my favorite Ps2 RPGs. Sometimes I still find myself going back to play whether it's from random saves or just to play the card game. My only gripe is that there's no option to switch the dialogue to japanese (which a lot of games have) because some of the voice acting is god awful.

Are you going to play all 3? If so, 2 is much shorter since it's 85% cutscenes. If you put in 3+ hours a day you could probably finish the game in less than a week. The horrible combat (which makes you feel like the game is cheating) and time consuming side quests is what is going to keep you from blowing through the game in a weekend. Actually, my advice would be to just gameshark it and blow though the damn thing. The effort/reward ratio is just pathetic. Hell, there's even an important side quest that makes the combat fair that causes you to start over from scratch if you don't grind to learn the ability to steal an item from the 2nd boss. (I'm dead serious) Maybe I'm just burnt out from grinding on better RPGs, but that's how I feel about it.

3 probably the best in the series. The combat is a hybrid of 1 and 2, but more turn based. Cutscenes, duration and frequency are probably between 1 and 2. There's a ton of text cutscenes mixed in that make me think the game was rushed since they had to condense the series from 5 games to 3 because of how bad 2 bombed. The mech combat is probably the worse in the series, but 3 is still an all around solid game. I think 3 is the only one out of the series I had the patience to beat twice. Well, if you don't include that stupid side quest in 2 that you literally have to start over from the beginning if you miss getting the item before you even get the quest.

good. Xenosaga should have just dumped the mech combat entirely, it wasn't worth it as underdeveloped as it was, imo anyway.

That's why I like Xenogears so much more, ground combat and mech combat were both highly utilized.
