Just finished Okami on Wii the other day. God damn good game. Felt like a zelda clone and was a bit easy...but still very very enjoyable.

Tried starting Resident evil 4 on wii tonight...I haven't played any other RE games, but wtf is up with the controls? Maybe I'm expecting something more like a 3rd person shooter controls or something...this is just bad.

I am looking forward to finishing the series, though, since I've heard so many good things about the plot in 3. I might just read through 2's plot on the internet, we'll see.

Although if the mech combat is even worse in 3 than it was in 1, I'm not looking forward to that. It seems pretty pointless as is, especially when you look at how it was done in Xenogears.
As far as 2 goes, I'd say just use a cheat to get max stock bars at the very least. Every battle feels like a damn boss fight and enemies take several turns boosting without giving you a chance to attack. On top of that, the zone break system makes everything more complicated on top of the blatant cheating that goes on. One thing I will say good about 2 is that the boss fights are extremely strategic. Unlike in 1 and 2 where they just have ridiculously high HP, you actually have to use your head and figure out patterns to exploit. After quitting for a year out of sheer disappointment, I did a shit ton of research on the combat system and learned how to blow through fights with strategy and a little patience. Some bosses are still a bitch but pretty fun.

    Spoiler: show
Your first encounter with Albedo is fucking awesome. At first he just blocks everything, but after enough damage is dealt to him his arms get destroyed and you can hurt him normally. The whole fight is about figuring out how to accumulate enough stock and boost without dying, destroying his arms, breaking his zone, air or down him, and unload with a long combo that takes him down in seconds.

Bought Dead Space and a sealed copy of Valkyria Chronicles.

Can't believe I put off Dead Space for so long, the controls are so comfortable. Freaky ass enemies, stomping on their remains is pretty satisfying.

Still in the middle of Uncharted, I stopped because I got stuck on the jet ski part for a while. I didn't know that bitch riding in the back had a bazooka to blow those monkeys to hell. I raged.

ugh, Red Faction Guerilla is reaaaaaally annoying. I've turned the difficulty down all the way but the fun of destroying everything in sight (which is freaking awesome, don't get me wrong) is usually interrupted by a nearly limitless stream of guards who rape you too quickly to get away. I'm sticking with it because it's a lot of fun blowing shit up and the weapons are pretty cool, but there are a few too many bad spots for me to overlook. Something like 300 supply crates to destroy and 300 ore deposits to mine is my kind of thing, but having no way to track them on the map besides dark maroon dots which are barely visible against the brown background means I'll probably end up searching for hours to no avail, if I last that long.

All this open world liberation from an oppressive regime really makes me want to find a cheap copy of The Saboteur already, lol.

Oh and I beat Batman: AA for the 2nd time. Playing as the Joker in the challenge maps is fkn awesome.

Was playing WoW nonstop until I had to spend 2 days fixing the HDD which died and no longer have any compulsion to play.

Started up The Longest Journey which I was very surprised by considering I tend to dislike adventure games, got Dreamfall on the side waiting for when I'm done.

Online play has been reduced to pretty much nothing but Quake 2 DM1-The Edge.

I've been told so many times I need to play The Longest Journey. I should really get on that.

Playing FFXII again and hoping I can get through the game this time. I could never get into the game because Vaan is such a pathetic main character.

He's replaceable in your party makeup if you mean that. And ashe dominates most CS anyways.

No, I just can't stand him. I've played and beaten every Final Fantasy game (except for the DS ones) and this is the only one I can't get into. I usually try to identify myself with some aspect of the main character and there's nothing I see redeeming with Vaan, which makes it very hard for me to get into this game. I feel so disconnected from the story that it almost bores me.
Also, I haven't really played any RPGs for the past 3 years and that could have something to do with it too. I'm not patient enough to grind, and would rather get through the game at a quick pace while enjoying the story. So I've had a lot of trouble doing so with a man character that just seems to be going along for the ride.

    PC:
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords
    Jade Empire Special Edition

I'm not much of a fan of games like puzzle quest but this is very fun to play because of the rpg elements with it. I also haven't played jade empire on the xbox in a long time and I heard the pc version was just as good to play.

Fuck Xenosaga's unbalanced horseshit gameplay. No amount of incredible story is worth this hell. I forgot how bad it was, but the mech boss on the Elsa is reminding me.

I know the trick to beating him, but until you've had a few turns to build up boost levels there's nothing you can do to avoid his Tremor attack that almost completely wipes out your party. You end up facing a situation where pure luck determines your survival. And you can't even upgrade your AGWS for story reasons until after you beat him.

Oh, and then you're doing around 100-150 damage per person max, unless you've upgraded your AGWS, yet every time he falls below 600 health he'll heal himself for 600 HP. Meaning you have to deal the last 600 damage all at once or you can never win the battle no matter how much you chip at his health unless you have the right party members (chaos or Shion with upgraded AGWS).

Fuck this. I beat SMT: Nocturne on Hard mode the first time round and loved it, and this is still too frustrating for me. That says a lot.

    /nerdrage over

edit: Alright, I finally beat his cheap ass out of spite. Wasted a ton of healing items, too. And still had to restart once more when he got Tremor on the Hi-Critical slot (not even a sliver of a chance of winning that time).

Fuck that guy, seriously. I don't know what they were thinking when they put a boss like that so early in the game at a point where you can't effectively grind if you're underleveled.

And then you get Jr.'s scenario next, in which most of the enemies were literally doing 0 damage and all died in one hit. I stand by my previous assertion that this shit be unbalanced as fuck.

Lol at the assumption that Xenosaga is a game. It's more like an interactive book, you could get as much out of the story as the OVA.

Also, still playing FFXII. It's still unbearable as hell, but if I play in short spurts it's not so bad. God I hate JP RPGs now.

If you find it to be unbearable, just stop playing it.
I played 16 hours of FFXII over the weekend personally, I fucking love it!

This was the only boring part O:
