Beat Dead Space today, very crazy ending. The last boss was an utter disappointment, very easy.
I also just got the portal gun in Darksiders.
Been playing Dead Space myself lately. Kind of shocked and disappointed at the same time. I thought I was supposed to be scared, and I thought I would be scared. I guess maybe if I hadn't watched that animated movie before playing it, it'd be scarier, but maybe going into the game knowing what to expect (at least up until where I'm at in chapter 5) kind of dulled the senses. Still a pretty fun game, and I appreciate not having to change my underwear like I was expecting to.
Picked up FEAR2 dirt cheap the other day, and been playing it at my own pace.
Am surprised how crap it looks on the PS3 compared to the first one maxed out on my PC, but I guess that's part of what a shoddy port is, but at least the frame-rate holds up well enough. It also seems to be lacking in 'boo' factor, although FEAR1 (+ expansions) weren't scary at all to me when everyone used to clamor that it was. Enjoyable none the less, and I haven't played a straight-up FPS in awhile on this system, so it's something to bounce to when I get bored of one of my other titles.
I also picked up the MGS & Pirates DLC for Littlebigplanet, and I don't regret it. The included levels are well designed and fun (just wish I could open them in the editor so I can see how the 'pros' do their stuff), but they're short, unless you keep replaying them to get all the stickers (which they designed the levels to actually require multiple playthroughs to do so), which increases the replay value slightly, but only slightly.
Paintenator and water additions on the other hand are excellent, looking forward to making myself a water-based puzzle level where you have to navigate a flooded dungeon while not drowning. May even toss a little old-school TMNT rage in therel by introducing electrical seaweed everywhere. Maybe even rip off the bomb + time limit shit if I can figure out how to do that with an onscreen time indicator.
even on Impossible, you still end up with a lot more ammo than you need in Dead Space, especially if you're good about dismembering enemies. You don't have the ridiculously huge surplus like you get on Easy but you'll still have enough ammo to beat the game as well as fully upgrade your rig, stasis, and 2-3 weapons.
Personally I didn't think Dead Space was that scary either, just more startling than anything. IMO Silent Hill 2 or 3 did a better job of scaring the absolute shit out of you.
Finally beat Ouendan 2 on Insane, wish I knew if there was a way to turn off the flames in the background since they keep catching me off guard when I see red markers.
Anyway, time to gear up Squall some more in Dissidia I guess. Still got to beat 2 more stages of Inward Chaos.
Is it just me or does the woman in the beginning of Fable II sounds like Flemeth from Dragon Age: Origins? <.<
Flemeth is voiced by Kate Mulgrew, the actress who played Captain Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager. The narrator from Fable/Theresa is voiced by Zoe Wanamaker, a famous tv actress in the UK most well known in the US for her portrayal of Madame Hooch in the Harry Potter movies.
While we're on the subject of raspy ladies the narrator from God of War (Gaia) is voiced by Linda Hunt, from NCIS:LA and various other movies.
Gamefly just delivered Tekken6 and Too Human the other day. Liking Too Human. And wtf @ Campaign Mode in Tekken, luv it.
I like raspy female voicing characters same goes with the older men...makes everything sound much more epic.
>.< Fable 2 just crashed and I lost everything my friend gave to me to hold for him T_T
Currently working (slowly) on Bayonetta. Fun when I need an action fix, but fuck Stone Awards. lol
Anyone know of a good place to download older games? I want to get Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic I/II but can't find anything but torrents. =[
Steam.
Anyone else playing Sands of Destruction? US rom has been dumped, which happened faster than I was expecting. So far it seems like a typical yet well-polished JRPG, the sprite-based graphics being a highlight. Someone compared the look to Xenogears since it's 2D sprites on 3D backgrounds, and though the styles are similar, SoD's sprites are far cleaner, detailed, and more colorful. Soundtrack is Mitsuda, so of course it's excellent. I haven't gotten far enough into the battle system to really comment on it but it seems to be your typical "earn points to upgrade attacks" fare. Can't really comment on the story yet but I haven't seen any glaring flaws or horrible mistranslations, so that's good.
Oh wow, didn't know the game was released in English. Will check it out for sure.
Still waiting for sands of destruction in the mail. Playing Black Sigil currently anyhow and tons of bayonetta still.
Thanks for the notice, I'm way behind on DS goings-on and I totally missed this. Was looking for a good reason to pick my DS back up because other than some RPGs I've been mostly ignoring it since I went and nabbed a flash cart.
Playing Bayonetta as of last night after doing the Gamespot trade-up with Tekken 6. Having a ton of fun with it, but raging pretty hard at getting Stone Awards on some stages. Buying the one-stage-only Vitality boost from the mini-game every time now. Dx
Also, the fuck at taking thumb prints for trading games. lol
