My chocobo just hit Lv. 8 End >< stupid long walks... 7/8/3/1 now :/ Does that mean I need to start again? Or can I try make it drop using carrots? I'm unclear as to if getting something to Lv. 8 and dropping it counts as using 1 of the 23 points... Anyone able to clarify this for me please?

Thistle is going to hate me, but it only took me 2 energy bars to teach my bird canter. This was on day 61 if it makes any difference. So now my bird is 8/7/4/3 gallop+canter. I'm thinking of just doing the Swamptrot races and forgetting about that other half level of recept. Do you think I could get away with it, or should I get recept. to level 4 after all?

Can probably get away with it, people(including myself) have won most of the races with worse stats.

"Average" REC isn't necessary to complete the Pashhow Swamptrot race series. I finished the Dream Race the other day at 8/8/4/3, though it took me about six tries due to some poor luck. I did all the previous races at 8/8/4/2, losing no more than twice at any race, but later chose to upgrade to a "A bit deficient" REC after losing the first three Dream Races.

Watching Sakura get hit by a Gysahl Bomb AND a Fire Biscuit AND get stuck in the mud and never fall out of first-place before using her Dream Apple was some real bullshit.

Thank you all for the quick replies. I went ahead and did the CRA classic race with my bird as is. He won by a mile, so I think I'll be fine for the Swamptrot races.

Has anyone tried to ingrave their trophy they won from the winning all the challange races? I wanted to do it to the bronze trophy I just won, so I headed on down to the Chocobo Circuit to pick up the matching stand for it. The NPC who gives out the stands tells me I need to trade her the stand and trophy to ingrave them both. So I trade her the bronze stand and the bronze trophy, but nothing happens. Am I missing something here, or is there something up with the NPC?

She only engraves the trophies you get from C1 races. Also, don't make the mistake I did and engrave your first trophy D:

When you trade your Crystal Stakes cup to the NPC along with the stand, it adds the number to the stand and your trophy is gone. Record is there, but you won't be able to put it on top of the stand after you trade it in lol D: Its np though I got 3 since then, just been too lazy to engrave all the extra ones.

    Edit: Added pic yay

Just wanted to add myself to the ranks here, as I just got my Pullus Torque today ^^

Chocobo is 8/8/5/1, Gallop + Canter. I lost to that cheating Cactuar twice with chocobo taping, decided to try and switch to a Spore Bomb, and somehow I still came out ahead even with all it's Mad Dashes.

Before the update I couldn't get past the 2nd race of the tier II official races, and lost the first time I tried after the racing, then used taping and won. And won every one after that the first time through with Taping until the Cactuar.

    Going for the Dream tomorrow!

That, on the other hand... (Congrats!)

It kind of boggled me that I had such bad luck with both parts. Thankfully my little bird can win the circuit races. Odd thing since the update though: Before it, I used to win firsts, seconds, thirds, and rarely less than third. Since the update I've gotten all second places except one first and one less than third. The one first place was when one of those "fake PCs" were in the race, all the second place ones didn't have one.

And I won the Dream Race first time through!

Choco: 8/8/5/1, Gallop + Canter, used a Spore Bomb.

I guess I just got lucky...Sakura got stuck in the mud and got hit with a fire biscuit, plus two spore bombs. Mine wasn't late out of the gate and somehow managed to pull ahead at the end.

So nope, don't need Receptivity to win the official races.

I just won the dream race on my first try too! My bird resisted everything but the dream cracker, and Sakura got hit by a spore bomb and a pepper biscuit. I won by a good full bird length. My bird's stats are 8/7/4/3 gallop + canter. On a side note, the pullus torque it awesome. My feet can't keep up when I run with the costume on lol.

Having troubles with my bird trying to get this. I capped 8/8/0/0 and threw it on Basic care. been giving it 3 zegham everyday and I've done 4 Des raises with chocobucks. It's still on poor and I haven't had luck teaching it gallop or canter so far.

It's on Day 61 so it's stats from plans will be cut off soon. Anyone got a training schedule incase I need to start a new bird?

It takes 7 of those training program's you can buy with chocobucks to get one stat up one level. So you need 4 more to get it to substandard. You might also want to try dig for treasure on your last few days to help with discernment.

Ah, thank you. I just thought since it's been on Basic Care for almost 2 weeks now on top of 2-3 Zeghams a day, it'd go up at least to Lv1. I suppose I'll just have to entertain it and milk the 10buck cheaper programs for the moment.

I believe it's been answered before, but you can tech abilities at any level of Discernment after it's stats have froze from the care plans, yeah? I've been spamming the Gallop story since I got the Canter from Brutus and no luck yet (Stats haven't froze, though).

Basic Care doesn't raise levels, it's more a sideways movement in that it doesn't lower any stats. I think food only raises the stats by a very small amount, so you'd have to give them for a very long time.

And Raising schedule depends upon what kind of Chocobo you want. If you want your Chocobo to have Str and End at SS, you can use the one you currently have, just need to do some major racing (which you would have to do with other maxed out stats, too).

I have never seen Canter learned below average (btw, telling stories raises Dis, too), but supposedly it's possible, just incredibly rare.

Huh, that's interesting. I could see it being less, if you've done some training, but I never saw it over six (and I did two stats from token training alone, no overnight/plan training at all, just 100% token).

Each 80-chocobuck training is worth 5 points, so with 32 points per "level" you'd need 7 sessions to cover all 32 points, but less to transition up to your next level depending on how far into the level you were already in.

On a side note, has anyone ever lost one of their training session results on a post-64 day chocobo? The first night I got my REC up to "A bit deficient," from training I re-registered my chocobo (there is zero chance I forgot to do this, I even took a screenshot at the time as proof to remind myself later), ran the Dream Race and lost, and then came back the next day to find that my chocobo AND my registered chocobo were back to "Substandard."

I ended up doing the training one more time and it stayed at "A bit deficient" permanently.

I tried the C4 race a few times last night and got my ass kicked. I used a Stamina Apple and an Ash Saddle each time and never got better then 4th place. Those of you familiar with the C4-1 races, what item/saddle do you use for those races? My bird is 8/7/4/3 Gallop + Canter.

That's what I had read as well, but I did END from Poor to Outstanding and REC from Poor to Average with nothing but tokens. No care plans that covered both STR and END or DIS and REC, 100% from tokens only. It took exactly 6 tokens to level up each time, first leveling and every level after that.

I figured the 32 figure must have been a mistake, because otherwise I can't explain my experience with it. I keep notes on everything I do in game, chocobo raising included, so I can confirm it's not my memory playing tricks on me. Six tokens per level, never seven or five, written in ink on the page.
