What have you fed your Chocobo and what active care have you given it?

Those of you familiar with the C4-1 races, what item/saddle do you use for those races?

JP ff11wiki gives 3 patterns to chocobuck attribute upgrades:

    1) +6 > +6 > +6 > +6 ... (repeating)

    2) +4 > +6 > +4 > +6 ... (alternating, or +6 > +4 > +6 > +4)

    3) +5 > +5 > +5 > +5 ... (repeating)

So 1) seems possible. Maybe it's a minor perk of raising a bred chocobo.

Ok this has nothing to do with the pullus torque but I finally taught my chocobo gallop today. He is a 8/7/4/1 bird and I was running in the field with him... but he's still slow. I've heard that max str + gallop meant you run as fast as rental birds? Is this true then or not? Or is there something I'm missing? >< sorry for mini necrobump.

Hm, true, I didn't think of the active care plan (even though doing a Long Walk gave me a bump in STR within the same day). By the time it became an adult, I was feeding it as many happy-greens as it would eat (younger than adult = carrot + happy green), active plan was walk, race against others (only when bored -- rarely), and using up the rest of the energy with watching over it. Could Walks raise END as well as STR?

On an unrelated note, has anyone who races in the circuit seen a difference lately? I stopped doing C1s and went back to C4/C3s, and even with that change I never come in first. Second? Sure, all the time, but I haven't seen a first in weeks. (I don't stay and watch the races anymore, so I can't report what's happening in them.) 8/7/4/4 bird.

Gallop does jack outside of the races (as does Canter and Auto-Regen).
Rental speed is max speed, a raised chocobo can't exceed that. Mine prime racer is just as fast as rental.

Afair, such a thing has been reported.

Since the last update my Chocobo does about as well as before the disgusting June update in C1. Last week saw four wins, the one before that five. Unfortunately, I can't tell you the stats from memory, it has capped Str, that I know.

Then I still don't get why -_- mine is lvl 8 STR. Do you actually need to cap out the points on the skill? My bird is seriously 20% slower than rentals D:

Well fuck me sideways. Guess i'll start getting a lot of chocobucks =/ Is there a way to tell when you've maxxed out the stat or is just measuring the running speed the only way?

It will say any further upgrades would injure the chocobo when you try to use any more chocobuck upgrades on the stat.

My brid is 8/8/0/0 no abilities and I can't seem to beat the 2nd Pashhow race. I see people that posted on here that have birds with 8/8/4/3. My question is how do you raise a bird like that? Since when you raise its physical stats the birds mental starts are lowered. If I cap out its physical stats then go for mental stats won't that just lower my physical stats I just capped out?

I think I am missing something.

Here's a real quick rundown of what I did to get my bird to 8/7/4/3:
Day 5 -18: Walk through town. Feed vomp carrots and do short walks until it's out of energy.
Day 19 -50ish: Carry Packages. STR and END should hit first-class around day 45, give it 4-5 more days of carrying packages to cap both stats. Feed vomp carrots and regular walks until it's out of energy.
Day 50ish -65: Dig for Treasure. Feed it vomp carrots and affection greens when needed. Disc will raise to 'better then average' or 'average'. END will drop to 'outstanding' or 'impressive'. You'll have to race for chocobucks to get receptivity up.

Does anyone have any advice for the Lethal Race?

My bird is 8/7/4/2, Gallop/Canter at the moment (not finished yet) and I just can't seem to beat the cactaur, I always finish just a fraction behind him. I'm using Final Spurt+Speed Apple.
Any chance of me beating him or do I need to finish my bird first?
Any advice at all is welcomed!

Nvm... beat it xD Woo! Pullus Torque!

My bird at SSS-SSS-A-F raped all of the pashow swaptrots first try.

On the sakura race I got stuck in the mud, got hit by 2 crackers, (including dream) and still won by a long shot.

I have cant/gall and use speed apple/final burst. There appears to be no stamina or speed cap in the swamptrot. Prolly has to do with the lack of saddle and rider XP

So the pashow races are easier than the free runs and those 3 super chocobos? I've been building my bird up before I try. 8-6-4-1 w/ gallop and canter atm. Should I try to add a bit more before attempting these? Did you win @ 8-7-4-1 Dragoon?

Wait to cap before you do. Swamptrot has a lot of luck involved, even capped chocobo can take a couple tries. I did it with three different chocobos with identical stats (8/6/4/4/C/G) and all 3 had different results. One lost a lot on the first 5 but won sakura race first try, one won em all up until Sakura race and then took 6 tries to beat it(that one was my main char) and then the last one beat sakura race in 3rd try and lost cactrot 5 times while winning the rest first try. A friend of mine also had identical stats to mine and won them all first try.

Most agree that Sakura race is hardest, and cactuar race before that one is 2nd hardest.

Also, officially there is no such SSS stat. If you want to differentiate between a capped SS and an uncapped SS, or C/G, then say so.

Yes, SSS is just my way of saying capped, cause there is a huge difference between 1 point over first class and 7 trains later capped.

I don't know how you're training your bird, but there is no sex involved in racing, forced or otherwise.

SS/A/C/F Gallop+Canter so far. Should get Endurance at least to S and then start on getting that F up

    What's the consensus on:

    8/6/4/4/G/C

    vs something like

    8/8/4/2/G/C

    or some variation?

My bird has a mental disorder. He'll randomyl tackle and rape a chocobo in mid race... And still win.

Endurance is a must have for swamptrot, cause it's much longer than the other races. Even my bird with capped endurance got sweat drops near the end.

So yeah, those two levels on endurance will make a big difference.
