    What's the consensus on:

    8/6/4/4/G/C

    vs something like

    8/8/4/2/G/C

    or some variation?
Many Birds are capable of beating those races, there are some crazy combos in this thread and the others, that have won.
If you already have a bird with the first combo or close to the first combo, going for the second is only thrown away money and time. The first is quite capable of beating the races.

I got distracted camping Argus for like 10 days and messed up my Chocobo schedule, so looks like I'll retire at about 8/7/4/3/G/C.

I'm going to look into the retired upgrades to cap the chocobo, but I think I should be able to win the Swamptrot races wit this build, just might take a few tries.

I'll report back when all is said and done.

Improtant note: Not only are retired trains more expensive, but they take more uses.

Luckily you're like 1 level away from cap. Nonetheless, you'll be looking at blowing about 150-200K to finish capping your bird if you race all your trains.

If you decide to use the retired upgrades, let us know how the training went. I've heard stories that the improvement per token is less than for active chocobos.

Normally, it's not worth the money to use items during free runs, but if Nitsuj tries to grind out a lot of races at the maximum price (to finish before retirement), then it may become cost-effective.

There's a pattern to which chocobos show up -- the sequence of the first eight races repeats over and over again. So after the first set, you can choose to equip an item without spending time checking on who's running (or wasting items on guaranteed races).

Wow, this thread is still alive!

I'm at 49/50 first place wins. One more first place so I can get the last title and I'm never ever racing again!

My stats are interesting. I got my 49th first place on my 200th win, that's (almost) a nice even number.

And I got it, woo. Triumphant Owner!

    Number of races: 203
    First place wins: 50
    Solo win points: 442

All done! Never racing again unless they add more mission races! Yay!

That's really kind of amazing (and sad). 200 races = more than 200 days of working towards this (sad, sad) goal... Talk about a waste of time in a time wasting game!

I got mine a few days ago too :D I haven't been racing as much, I got about 90 total races, and 51 first place wins, most of them C1. It's too bad it's so hard to keep titles you like though! Like if you beat a mission that gives a title, kill something that gives a title, do a quest, etc

At least you can rebuy them, for the Choco titles it's the bard in the Lower Jeuno tavern, afair.

The first time I saw one of those titles was on a mule, never saw them on my main, but checked with bard, I have them, just never saw them.

I hope in a few days, if I find time (unlikely), I'll manage 100 Crystal Stakes wins. And I wish SE would give us something to do with our victory points.

It'd be nice if we could buy stuff with them. Say, that baby stuffed chocobo for your MH that only JP players have access to...

Quick question about chocotraining: My chocobo is old enough to auto-retire, yet I can still get chocobucks via racing and hot and cold. Should I not check up on the status of my chocobo and keep feeding it training regimens until I'm ready to "finalize" my bird? Or are these trainings going to waste since my bird is past the point of auto-retiring?

I pushed str/end from the get go, sos he should have the body form that came with that (it's been a while since I researched which was which). Has it been confirmed that the big feathers/feat/beak is more than purely cosmetic?

Her weather is clear, she was raised in Bastok. Rainy birds seemed fun, but I was under the impression that this hasn't been confirmed as making a huge difference. People with both types seem to have reported mixed success.

I hit 8/7/4/2 last night. Gonna fish most of the afternoon in Nashmau to make some gil and then try to get 2-3 upgrades today and 2-3 tomorrow...

I'll definitely report back if I need retired token upgrades.

You can always do Free Runs and Hot-and-Cold on your previous chocobos, and can freely switched registrations between retired or active chocobos as long as you have your VCS registration card. The Hot-and-Cold game calls whatever chocobo is registered to your whistle, while the Free Runs enter the chocobo that you've most recently turned in Racing Documentation for.

I have no idea what happens if you try to use non-retired training programs on a bird that's past auto-retirement age (but not retired because it's unchecked). If you'd like to take a risk and try to bump up a stat this way, let us know what happens. I believe the Chocobuck Training NPC will give you an option to view the 4 basic stats when purchasing upgrades, so you can monitor any improvements while avoiding talking to the chocobo raising NPC.

Yeah, this is what I was after, and what I've been doing since my current "racer" is 8/7/4/0 and I want to try and buff it up w/o retiring it due to the price difference. I'll let ya know if I can get him to 8/8/4/0.

Afair, it has been quite some time ago, but I did that and it did work.

And, yes, Choco statues would be very, very nice in exchange for victory points. I'd also be happy about those armor the betting and registration NPCs wear on the Circuit (with something like dispenses Speed Apple or Gysahl Greens, or some such).

So if I don't talk to the NPC I can cap my stats without retiring him?

That's interesting... get your bird to capped affection by day 120, stop talking to the trainer, spam races until 100% capped and then PROFIT?

I always sorta wondered if affection worked as a hidden stat in races at all.

Worked for me about a year ago.

    That would be interesting test.
