I was going more for the wow-effect, normally I only race all day on weekends if I'm busy in real life.
But even so, three hours should you place close to 100 bucks per day, if the only Chocos you can't beat are the supers and if you race continuously every five minutes.

I hate enfeebling items, they never work for me. :/ What is it that makes that race so hard? I can't just use Stamina Apple like I do for the other races? >.>

    Ah, okay.

I can't claim it's always continuously racing (like I'm here reading while racing, and if the race finishes before I'm done posting, I wouldn't switch back until I'm done here). Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't, sometimes I can put more time in, sometimes less. 50/day is an average, not a firm number.

The problem is Sakura's Dream Apple, she is too fast on her own, you have to stun her to have a chance. In my winning race she came in fourth.

I really hate raising chocobos, but really want a Pullus Torque. I have a Chocobo with the second highest speed and third highest endurance and everything else at the lowest possible rating. Would it worth my time to try to race him and upgrade him through choco bucks or just start completely from scratch?

Does it have racing abilities? If not, no.

If, yes, it's feasible, but costs a lot and is tedious, probably better to start anew.

You're in almost the same situation I was. My current racing bird is first class (highest) both physicals and poor (lowest) both mentals, with Gallop as the only ability. Mine sucks really badly at racing, so since yours is worse than mine...

I dreaded starting from scratch. I put it off for months. I didn't want to waste the time/money on another bird. However, now that I'm raising it, I find it's not as bad as I had been expecting. Even with my hours of spamming the races for chocobucks, I had really thought it would be worse.

I'd suggest starting from scratch and saving your chocobucks for upgrading your new bird.

No, only one egg per all stables allowed.

And I didn't have time to continue my tests with my Mule birds, but it might be possible to win the relevant races without Chocobuck training. I'll have to do some more tests in the near future.

Pretty much my stats as well, stuck on race, 3 I think. I swore I'd never raise another one of these lice infested mongrels, but I have this stubborn urge to complete it like a proper nerd. Maybe I can at least get a colored one this time. Luckily Bastok (somehow) managed to be first in racing this week so I can pick up some tokens.

Now that is an excellent observation -- the Pashhow Swamptrot seems to be good for rainy weather chocobos in general, I noticed rainy weather several times as I was moving up through the races.

I've also told myself I'm never raising another chocobo again (my current champion is my 6th), but a Rain-affinity bird is something that tempts me. Right now I pretty much have to skip rainy-weather races on the circuit. For Sunny weather races, a Foulweather Frog might be the most powerful offensive AoE item available. Although the frog is a food-type item (Cooking Lvl 2?), the Racing Circuit store doesn't sell it, and I have never seen an NPC chocobo use one.

Your chocobo's weather preference seems to be largely dependent on the weather present when you take it for walks. This would mean I would have to switch out of Windurst, as they never have the right weather in the zones you take your chocobo walking in.

Oh, and I found a yummy worm in Whitegate the other day--

The rain frog is super easy to make. It's like a frog and a water crystal, and it's lvl2 cooking. I wish I had a rain bird because that would be the best way to beat the cactaur, the problem is my bird likes normal weather so I suffered too, and lost to the rabbit.

    Ah, I'm sorry.
    Maybe I was just lucky.

As for the weather preferences, out of the twenty or so Chocobos I raised only one had a preference other than like good weather dislikes nothing (and that was my second Chocobo). Although I too have thought about once again trying for one that likes rain.

Just checked, and I have the option to purchase 100-chocobuck training tokens for retired chocobos. The current team ranks were reported as "3-nation deadlock" at the time. However, Saturday night Windurst (my team) was dominant -- so it seems your benefits are decided during the Sunday tally, much like conquest.

There are 4 distinct types of tokens, one for each stat. Previously, I was able to mail other types of tokens to my mule for storage (I have not tested these specifically yet), so they should be tradeable.

Good to know. If nothing else, I can buy a crapton of them on a Sunday morning.

900 chocobucks saved, 100 to go!

    So very sick of racing...

I might be misunderstanding you here, but from what I can tell, the retired-chocobo tokens are available not because it's Sunday and they are all tied, but because it's conquest roll-over and my nation's race team was 1st just before it happened. For Midgardsormr, this will usually mean either Bastok or Windurst. In any case, requirements for retired training tokens are a moot point if you are raising a completely new chocobo.

Oh, about grinding Chocobucks, I usually do free runs with nothing equipped. HitenMiss can occasionally beat one of the Super-Chocobos with no items -- it is fairly infrequent (basically depends on other chocobos using certain items at the right time). Given the tradeoff between cost of items and boosting the chocobuck earning rate a little, I usually don't bother.

However, she can beat them more often using items (Pepper Biscuits usually), and I would sometimes bother to use them when trying to get a bunch of bucks quickly. It doesn't make financial sense to throw them at every race (when most are vs. a bunch of slow-cobos), and checking each lane takes a while. I noticed the Super-chocobos aren't randomly loaded, at least one occupies the same lane each time (which lane it is escapes me at the moment), so I would just check that one spot only before loading a biscuit (there is still some trade-off for the time & attention it takes to do the check vs. your increased earnings rate, of course).

It turns out you can also sell them on the AH, just nobody really bothers to put them up. Lack of a liquid market makes them difficult to price, but a guesstimate would be an exchange rate of something like 500-1200g per chocobuck. If you could farm/craft gil faster than the equivalent time/aggravation in chocobucks, it would be worthwhile getting other people to do the races for you.

That last race is a pain in the ass. I think I would've won the third time I tried it if it wasn't for getting hit with so many AoE items.

But I'm tired of throwing chocobucks into it since I'm going to be using them on another bird soon, so I'll have to come back to it later.
